Located just at the outskirts of Sibiu it is a wonderful place to spend a day admiring the collection of mills, the wooden churches, and the traditional homesteads.
The exceptional natural landscape makes the museum and park a very good destination for relaxing, reading, carriage dirives.
All exhibits are in very good condition and you can see that everything has been restored and maintained with love and passion.
I had an interesting conversation with one of the employees (Eliza) and all I can tell is that those people have a real passion for culture and heritage.
The museum has its own traditional inns, lakes, alleys, grasses. If you are lucky you might stumble into a free concert or cultural event.

It was a pleasure to visit the outdoor site of the Astra museum. It is very close to Sibiu and is worth the visit.

The park is nice and well cared and the buildings are abundant, with good variety and very well preserved. It was very nice and interesting. However, some information in languages other than Rumanian would be appreciated by foreign guests.

Being fairly close to the Museum and after reading the reviews we have decided to check it out - and the half day trip was definitively worth it. The best way to learn about the culture - in a discreet and interesting way. What a pity that I forgot my camera.. Would definitively recommend.

I would recommend this museum but would give 5 stars if there were more people demonstrating traditional crafts - maybe there were at the weekend. If you want a queit and cheap place to stay there is a new villa on the museum site and it can be reached by but from the centre.

Here I've found the roots of life. Wood, stone and earth civilisation in a great natural park. All mixed with great touristic services!!! I'll come again ....when the life give me this opportunity again!
