Not too many tourists visit this museum and that is a shame. I really liked the museum a lot. A local guide told me about it, it's located very near to the central square of Brasov (in a side street).

Make sure to drop by here if you're visiting the city. It's right in the middle of Piata Sfatului (almost right next to the Black Church) and has an interesting display of Romanian culture developing through the ages. I really like that they used every part of the house to display everyday items used in Old Romania, as well as exhibits of artifacts and special craft tools like those carried around by merchants, used by tailors/dressmakers, and photographers. There's usually a laminated description of the room you're in, in various languages so don't worry about the language barrier.

My favorite exhibit would have to be on the second floor where they displayed ladies' accessories and clothing over the years. Make sure to explore this area and check out old photographs of the townspeople. There was also a children's room decorated with old toys and hand-painted furniture. If you're interested in Romanian crafts and paint patterns, check out the attic where they display painted chests and mirrors. Before you leave, you can also take a look at the small store that sells little Romanian trinkets and ceramics on the second floor.

Stopped in here to spend an hour or two before meeting friends. It is a very well organized museum that represents the history of Brasov and the surrounding area. Be prepared to wear plastic booties on your shoes because this is housed in a restored 16th Century building. Each floor allows a glimpse into a different facet of Brasov history. Also, there is a tax for taking photos or video, but it is worth the 25 Lei ($8 USD as of 8/2013) because the displays are well presented and photogenic.

This is a very new museum with very interesting exhibits on the local crafts and industry. There was a beautiful exhibit of photos of Maramures craftsmen when we visited, so check on special exhibits.
