“Good review from ancient times to now”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

At 11 RON it is well worth it. The amount of Roman infrastructure, towns and fortifications was revealing. Aerial photographs of much of the region and sites around the Black Sea. Large coin and pottery collection if you are into that sort of thing. Good maps of ancient times. For modern history the collection of themed rooms which move through the main periods of history were good. My younger Romanian colleagues found the many newspaper front pages enlightening. The mural room An interesting display of photographs of the Czar and family visit just before WW1. The balcony looks out on Ovid square for photos. Inexpensive bars and restaurants immediate to hand for refreshment afterward.

“Expansive collection”
Reviewed 19 July 2014 via mobile

11Lei per adult and let me tell you that this place has a lot to offer. Charting through all of Romanian history this museum has some brilliant artefacts on display and only lets itself down to the English speaking traveller by not always having descriptions available in English meaning some exhibits require a certain amount of guesswork. Even so, it's possible to get a rough idea of what something is. The building itself is a really good size and very old with an amazing room on the first floor. The stair case is very well made and sweeps up and up. A good visit to see some decent looking exhibits but if you speak English be prepared just to do a lot of looking and guesswork.

“Best museum ever”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

Located in the Ovidiu Plaza, it`s a stunning building. TO visit it ,and really get to know the works in detail,it would require at ;east 4 hours. I especially liked on the ground floor the grave with the burial tradition thath included jewels and gowns.
