Paradise Inn Le Metropole Hotel

We stayed for four nights early in May this year. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast provided a wide choice of dishes served in an elegant dining room. The rooms were large and comfortable and ours had a balcony providing views of the Mediterranean. The location in the centre of town was excellent and many attractions and shops were in walking distance. We walked along the waterfront and enjoyed coffee while watching the sun set over the old site of the lighthouse. Some aspects of the hotel are a little dated but this is part of the charm of an old style hotel..

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view, either front or side .

A small gem in the center of Alexandria, Le Metropole is a charming boutique hotel with great interiors that included works of arts and original 19th century pieces. The hotel staff is helpful, polite and friendly. an example of the charming welcome was the wonderful welcome drinks that we were offered on our arrival. The breakfast buffet is amazing and includes a wide selection of hot and cold dishes, pastries and desserts. Our room had a city view and was comfortable and clean. I will stay here again as soon as I am back in Alexandria.

Located in the mere centre of the city and just beside the corniche, this elegant hotel is an excellent choice for your permanence in Alexandria. The room rates are quite alright considering the high quality service that is provided. The check-in was really fast and efficient given that we were a large group and during our quick wait the staff offered us lemonades, canapés and small pastries. The ceilings are all very high and the corridors are large, enhancing the old time atmosphere that reigns in the hotel. The decor is tasteful and harmonious. Our room (216) had a partial view of the sea and of the surrounding streets. The beds are very comfortable and a complimentary plate of food was at our disposal (we had three kinds of fruit). I do not care about television, but I guess that some travellers may be interested in knowing that there is a massive range of channels to zap. The only inconvenience we had with our room regarded the shower, as we could not get cold water to run. But the following morning it was mysteriously working, hence it may just have been a glitch of the plumbing system (our fellow travel companions did not report any kind of problem with their showers). Breakfast is included in the room rate and the buffet is rich in any kind of food one could desire, from salty to sweet. Top points are to be given to the freshly squeezed orange juice, quite a rarity to find these days!

The stuff were friendly & welcoming. The breakfast was ok, but not very tasty. The room was nice and the bed was comfortable, but the bathroom wasn't good. The location of the hotel is excellent because it is in the city centre.

Although slightly worn, Le Metropole more than makes up for it with its historic charm and convenient, central location. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful, especially when we needed to hail cabs to various attractions in the city. The breakfast buffet is amazing and includes a wide selection of hot and cold dishes, pastries and even desserts. Our room had a sea view and was comfortable and clean. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Room Tip: We had a Jr. Suite with a gorgeous ocean view, which gave us cooling breeze in the afternoon and eve...

After staying in the usual modern hotels this came as a total, and not unpleasant surprise. The entrance and decor are from the bygone days as is the rest of the hotel but everything that you might want is there (Wifi, TV, etc).
The lift is very old, iron cage with double doors, and the ceilings are about 5m high - in the rooms as well. Old furniture and drapes but a nice comfortable bed with pillow top made sleep very easy.
Breakfast was OK - bear in mind that this is Egypt and peg your expectations foodwise to avoid disappointment but with made to order omlettes and eggs, good fruit and cereals it was fine.
I got a rate of $99 with breakfast and free wifi (something not usually provided by top hotels even these days).
Would I stay again - yes. Would I recommend it - yes. Was it different - absolutely.
