“A blast from the past”
Reviewed 20 April 2014 via mobile

Simple it was such an outstanding trip back in time to the magnificent metropolitan era of Alexandria. Le metropole hotel was full of it, with an amazing location in the city and exquisite sea view (sea view room is a must in my opinion), fascinating interiors, decent friendly professional staff, clean and eye catching spaces. Rooms were awesome, having the same old spirit, clean and neat with convenient amenities, yet needs regular maintenance specially to doors and windows. Bathrooms were fine yet also need regular maintenance and it would be perfect if the get totally renovated. Breakfast buffet was fine but needs more attention from the staff who were friendly and attentive to guests but not food stations(one day i noticed an unpleasant shocking scene of small insects flying around healthy food station and no one from the staff had noticed that till i told them).
Le metropole Hotel is an outstanding place for couples, friends or families looking to experience Alexandria and Egypt in a different style. I do highly recommend.

I stayed there for one night with my family. First of all, the rate/night is a bit high (it's higher than 5-star hotel in Sharm El-Shiekh and Hurghada). The bathroom is very very small. My room had a sea view and located in the first floor. It was very close to the street which is always crowded with noisy cars. Try to book a room in the upper floors.
The breakfast was very good and the view of the breakfast restaurant is marvelous.

We were very happy to be upgraded to a side sea view room without asking. Service was excellent and not too in your face. Room size was good and the bed very comfortable. Bathroom was fine as was the breakfast - great variety if not the freshest pastries. The lift is wonderful! It feels very central but set just back from the Corniche was traffic noise was (somewhat) reduced.

I stayed at this hotel during Feb for 01 night, I was there for a very quick business trip. Check in was done very smoothly and reception staff were so friendly.
The room I stayed in was a bit small compared to my colleagues rooms but that was fine for the nature of the visit I hardly stayed in the room.
The room need some maintenance but this is the case with all hotels during winter, couldn't take a hot shower but I was told later that I should have let the water running for longer time till it gets hot and that this is the case when you leave rooms unused for a long time. For the breakfast it was very nice, egg station, nice bakery corner, cold cuts and cheese. Coffee and tea were freshly brewed which is really important to me. Location of the hotel is super it is in the heart of Alex downtown and the royal decoration of the hotel takes you back in time and give you the feeling that you are visiting monarchy Egypt :)Would for sure go again for my business trips.

I grew up on Alexandria and as a lid and young nan always wondered at people sitting in this hotel's lobby at the window seats.

I left and now live in the US and it became my favorite spot. I stay about twice a year and the friendly staff now welcomes me back every time.

So, what's in it for you?

Location is unbearable. You are n the heart of the city. Choose a room with a Mediterranean view and you have a great scene. Walk to Delice and have coffee and gateaux. Or stroll the streets of saad and safeya zaghlool and enjoy a real Egyptian experience.

But before all enjoy the old time decor and a historical elevator in excellent working condition.

For me, a convenient wifi is also a great asset.
