“Perfect stay in downtown Alexandria”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2014

We went for few days to Alexandria in december, we decided to stay in downtown.
we made our choice and booked in the Metropole.
The place is almost perfect. Very friendly staff, meet you always with a smile.
Rooms and bathrooms very clean.
We enjoyed the hotel classical decoration reminding of the europeen chateau.
Breakfast buffet included, always fresh and varied.
I think we'll stay there during our next visit.

. I never imagined finding a hotel like this in Egypt. The hotel takes you in a time trip back to the age of the kingdom. The hotel building was built in 1902, the architecture of the hotel rooms and high roofs makes you feel like you are living in the king's palace. All the decorations and the statues take you back to the Greek and Romanian cultures.
I stayed one night in this hotel with my family in April 2014. The hotel stuff is very friendly. They provided us with a free room upgrade from an executive suit to a royal suite.
The food is very delicious and the open breakfast buffet contains a lot of varieties as well.
I totally recommend this hotel

Room Tip: sea view for sure

We agree with everything that is found under the review "A blast from the past". Staff were friendly, welcome drink and snack was sweet, breakfast was sufficient, beds were comfortable, a/c worked very well.

Rooms are a bit dark due to really high ceilings and not a lot of lights. Our room had a view of the Mediterranean and a balcony however it was not big enough to sit out on. Also, rooms facing the med mean it you face the busy Corniche road....so you hear quite a bit of honking and car noise that can be drowned out by the a/c. Hot water took a bit of time to come but there is definately hot water. Room service was quick. Extra bed placed in the room for our daughter and it was a real bed and pretty comfortable.

Simple it was such an outstanding trip back in time to the magnificent metropolitan era of Alexandria. Le metropole hotel was full of it, with an amazing location in the city and exquisite sea view (sea view room is a must in my opinion), fascinating interiors, decent friendly professional staff, clean and eye catching spaces. Rooms were awesome, having the same old spirit, clean and neat with convenient amenities, yet needs regular maintenance specially to doors and windows. Bathrooms were fine yet also need regular maintenance and it would be perfect if the get totally renovated. Breakfast buffet was fine but needs more attention from the staff who were friendly and attentive to guests but not food stations(one day i noticed an unpleasant shocking scene of small insects flying around healthy food station and no one from the staff had noticed that till i told them).
Le metropole Hotel is an outstanding place for couples, friends or families looking to experience Alexandria and Egypt in a different style. I do highly recommend.

I stayed there for one night with my family. First of all, the rate/night is a bit high (it's higher than 5-star hotel in Sharm El-Shiekh and Hurghada). The bathroom is very very small. My room had a sea view and located in the first floor. It was very close to the street which is always crowded with noisy cars. Try to book a room in the upper floors.
The breakfast was very good and the view of the breakfast restaurant is marvelous.

We were very happy to be upgraded to a side sea view room without asking. Service was excellent and not too in your face. Room size was good and the bed very comfortable. Bathroom was fine as was the breakfast - great variety if not the freshest pastries. The lift is wonderful! It feels very central but set just back from the Corniche was traffic noise was (somewhat) reduced.
