Paradise Inn Windsor Palace Hotel
Ranked #27 of 39 Hotels in Alexandria
Reviewed 17 August 2014

We stayed at Paradise Inn Aug 2014 and had a great stay. The hotel itself is over 100 years old but has been very well maintained. As soon as you enter you are taken back in time to an era of luxury and opulence. The rooms are nice, especially if you get a room facing the Mediterranean. The location of the hotel couldn't be any better, directly across the street from the water a few feet from dozens of cafes, restaurants and Alexandria's main shopping area. Make sure to spend an evening hanging out on the roof top cafe. If you're going to Alex make sure you stay here!

Room Tip: Make sure to get a room facing the Mediterranean sea.

This is a great hotel to stay. It has a Victorian style to it. Nicely decorated. The staff are very helpful and nice especially when you need something. When they open up the front doors, you can feel the breeze just like as if you were outside. Would I come back again? Oh yes, definitely.

This hotel has a very grand feel about it - high ceilings, marble flooring, gold tinted wall paper - and was probably one of the nicest hotels when it was at its peak. But that has long passed. It's very tired now and clearly needs a bit of investment to bring it back to a high quality standard. There are some very nice things about the hotel: a lovely roof top bar for one and breakfast is served on the top floor as well which is very nice. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. But like I say, it's very old and tired and although the Victorian style lifts (with manual doors and everything!) are very quaint, they're not as adorable when you're waiting 10 minutes for one. Alexandria itself is very dirty (and noisy! Good luck trying to get to sleep with the noise of the traffic) and I suspect this hotel or any others are unlikely to receive the cash investment they desperately need any time soon.

Friendly cooperative staff, Lovely Breezy 6th Floor restaurant "Blue Harbour", adequate breakfast varieties,a unique "heritage " hotel perfect for City trip .. we wished rooms were sound proof yet car horns didn't undermine sleep quality ..... we believe some alternative routes for the heavy traffic should be sought to protect the building from the consequences of noise and pollution
spacious room may have needed a desk or a small sofa plus more outlets for charging electronic devices (only one near fridge's )

What you will love more about this hotel once you step in is the way you are treated by every personnel on duty, a big welcoming smile that in no time makes you feel home.

The hotel holds an authentic heritage that goes back to 1906, the year it was built, the scent of old civilized Egypt is reflected by each wall and each piece of furniture.

Pros:

1- Great helpful staff.
2- Very nice authentic atmosphere.
3- Very vital city spot, a minutes of walking to multiple POIs.
4- Amazing Cornish view from the top restaurant.
5- Attending to fine details when it comes to room consumables like ear plugs...etc

Cons:

1- Free parking, but a block away.
2- Hell of noise for sea-view rooms residents from the main road below.

Room Tip: Don't pick a sea view room, you won't get to sleep because of the noise below.
