“Stop Looking And Just Book This Hotel!!! AMAZING”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2014

My partner and i returned home yesterday from what was supposed to be a weeks holiday that turned into a month due to medical reasons.
I cannot rate this hotel highly enough!
Every part of the hotel was spotless with attention to detail everywhere.
Huge choice of food for breakfast/lunch and dinner and also a pool bar doing drinks and snacks til 5pm.
A few people have mention about the bathroom walls (unless you are planning on spending your holiday in the bathroom im not sure why this is of any importance???), but just to clarify they are all being redecorated.
The hotel throughout is modern and beautiful, with picturesque views of the beach and the pool.
PARADISE!
We arrived late at night and the staff all came out to welcome us to music playing and genuinely happy to see us. We were told not to worry about checking in and go and get a meal and a drink, the porter took care of all our cases and the rooms were presented beautifully with complimentary wine and fruit bowl and flower petals everywhere.
Its well worth booking the excursions while you are there in our experience book with 'Ali Baba' he is in the hotel grounds everyday and offers everything from Quad Bikes to Camel Riding, all completely safe and insured (although im sure Thomson may say different).
What sets this hotel apart from the others....... quite simply THE STAFF!!!! I have never met such friendly genuine people in all my life and as we were at the hotel for over a month they became friends and family, they will do absolutely anything for you with a smile on their faces, so please dont be shy to ask them anything at all.
Also the spa there is lovely i had many treatments and all reasonable compared to the UK!
The watersports guys are amazing.
Our personal thanks go out to 'Ozan' (Ozzy) The Assistant General Manager, 'Hedi' The Guest Services Manager (The Tunisian Gok-Wan!), 'Bechir' Front Desk Manager, the amazingly helpful Receptionists 'Amir', 'Rahma', 'Sara' and 'Mohamed'........... and last but not least our friend 'Achraf' entertainment, you know when this crazy one is around with his calls of 'Hello hello' and 'Dont be lazy, be crazy!'.
This is a place that will be in our hearts forever and we are already planning to book again for next year!!! Samantha and Chris xxxxx

This hotel was fantastic, it made the holiday for us. ALL the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was great, good choice, and different every night - each night had a different theme. Sousse itself was good for a visit, only need less than a day here though. Excursion were ok, not that many that took our fancy. The entertainment in the night was also ok, but not outstanding!

went to couples sousse at the start of august for 1 week. we arrived during the night and the staff we outside singing and clapping as we got off the bus. we were then offered a cocktail and some food. staff are amazing at this hotel all very happy, friendly and will do absolutely anything for you.

During our stay we went on 2 trips booked with Thompson. market fever and Zulu night. both were pretty awful. Market fever was a very long day and the shops we went to were just the same stuff that is in the shop next door to the hotel. Zulu night was a day at the zoo which lasted 3 very long hours as the zoo isn't that big and you can get round it in about an hour, the only thing that's good about this trip is the African dancers at dinner, they were so fun and great to watch.
there's not much to do in Tunisia so i would recommend this hotel if you just want to relax and do nothing then the hotel is perfect for this. food is great and so are the drinks. the entertainment is standard just the same as most hotels.

Room Tip: any floor is great as they all look out onto the beach and pool

My wife and i just returned from Couples Scheherazade in Sousse on 11th Aug,if you are planning to have a quiet relaxing beach holiday think again, A new law recently has been passed stating that all hotels must give part of the d'

private beach to the locals.

The right hand side of the beach has been allocated to the locals, they are roped off like cattle.
At times with all the clothes and towels hanging up looks like a gipsy site.both sides of the beach outside the so called private area are a tip with rubbish thick in the water.

If you have a room on the right hand side of the hotel the noise starts early 5am and continues till dark 8pm ,even with the patio doors closed you can still hear it.
Tensions running very high with locals and security guards posted along the so called private beach.
Assistant Manager walked along beach asking if everyone having nice time, couple next to us said the families making to much noise, His reply was WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO,GET A GUN AND SHOOT THE CHILDREN.

Next day large family with very small children stopped to play in the sea right in front of us,they were physically moved along by the security guard, the father punched the guard in the face,a pitch battle ensued with all members of staff running down to beach stamping on and kicking the man.
Another day a man beat up his wife in front of us because her Birka had slipped. All this in front of the security guards .All day, everyday heated arguments between locals and security guards were breaking out. guards permanently blowing there whistles.
The beach is totally out of control. should not require 4 guards, this tells you there is a problem
.
The rooms have had a little refurbish, not to a good standard though, patio doors rattled in the wind, some bathrooms still had old shower.Floor not washed for over a week, Towels were made into different shapes, still dirty off days before, had to squeeze into bathroom.

With over 95% of guests being from UK you think the hotel would cater for the Brits, all the food was far to spicy,Tunisian, Italian, Mexican,Spanish,Med.and,Far east themed days,
no English food. Breakfast was very slow, food great as long as you like eggs.
The beer was worst i have ever tasted in Tunisia, and the usual spirits all watered down.
Dress code was a joke, sleeveless t shirts was the norm for evening meal.

On a more positive note the staff tried very hard most were very good. The entertainment was very good, and the Saturday gala night was amazing.

The rep said she had been inundated with complaints over the last few weeks.cannot understand why they are not posted on trip Advisor.?

We have been coming to Tunisia for nearly 30 years, there are better hotels along the coast and better value for money ,overall, disappointed with the holiday.
We would recommend RIU hotels.

Just returned from 14 days at Schehazerade and can report both absolute quality and an unbeatable holiday experience. The success of the resort is down to the staff who will do anything they can to ensure you have the best possible stay. The rooms, food, service and level of care were all unrivalled. Management and employees at all levels should be proud of how their guests feel when we are in their care.
The place is beautiful, relaxing and luxurious. Highlights include the care given by our superb chamber maid Mehdia (thank you from room 322- we love you!), the superb advice from Tammy and Kirk the reps and the personalised yet entertaining care of the fabulous Mr. Hedi. All of the staff smile.....all of the time!!! What a place!

I would recommend trips to the local heritage sites such as Carthage, Zaghouan and El Jem. Ali Baba animations represented by Nageeb also do great value fun trips. We enjoyed a hilarious camel safari and great support by Nageeb.
We've come home relaxed, unwound, enriched and a little sad that we can't walk along the gorgeous beach any more.
Would recommend to anyone who wants to tailor their own unique holiday in a fantastic location. Jo

My partner and I were sold straight away on Scheherazade Sousse by the night time picture of the pool and the hotel lit up and looking like paradise. We stayed at the hotel from the 31st of July to the 10th of August and the weather was consistently hot and clear the whole time, there tended to be a nice breeze that picked up in the afternoon as well so the weather was everything we could have hoped for. To make this review easier for perspective customers I’ll break it into points.

GUEST SERVICES – It has to be said straight away that I have never experienced anyone as attentive as HEDI - the guest services manager. He is absolutely perfect for the job he is in. We were told in the welcome meeting that he is the self-proclaimed ‘Gok Wan’ of Tunisia and it is easy to tell why… He is possibly the campest man I have ever met in my life and he is absolutely brilliant. The men don’t feel threatened and the women love him. Not only that but he is exceptionally good at his job, the amount of effort that he goes through is clear to see and it certainly appears that the staff respect him for it.

CLEANLINESS – Everywhere in the hotel was spotless, the restaurant was gleaming and the bedrooms were immaculate every day.

FOOD – We were anxious when we first went to the restaurant as it would have been a devastating blow paying all that money for an all-inclusive with terrible food but we were certainly not disappointed, A different theme every day and plenty to choose from at each one. We heard a few grumbles from a couple of fellow Brits but I honestly think they were just looking for something to whinge about. The only downside to the food was that there was no pork in sight! However, in a predominantly Muslim country you can hardly complain about the lack of a bacon sandwich for a couple of weeks at most!

There is also an al a carte Indian meal included in your stay which was extremely enjoyable, the portions were large enough and we also paid for the steak restaurant that was at the hotel as well. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend this, the food was nice enough but from what I heard from other customers while we were there, there is a steak restaurant down the road that does better food for about the same price.

DRINK – The alcoholic beverages were average but to be honest I was never expecting much, after a few glasses of wine who can tell the difference anyway? There was Coke, Fanta, Lemonade and a local beer on tap, the spirits were all local but like I said, after a couple you really don’t care what they are anyway. However, having just left university at the time my tolerance to alcohol was slightly higher than average and, again, you are visiting a Muslim country (where most people don’t drink) so you have to tell the barmen to pour in the right amount of whatever spirit you want otherwise you’ll get about a third of a shot of whatever you’re having.

THOMSON REPS – Kirk and Tammy where both very professional and keen to make your visit as good as possible I absolutely cannot fault them. An example for each: Kirk gave our welcome meeting brief and rattled it all off from memory - I’ve no doubt he’s given the same speech a hundred times now but I was still impressed with how he kept it relatively short but engaging and including all the necessary points. Tammy cleared up an issue I had about some maintenance occurring close to our room almost immediately and we even found a bottle of some weird peach flavoured lambrini type thing in our room as a little gift (It’s the thought that counts though!)

POOL – The beach-side pool was very nice, and the bar/snack area was close by however if you want a bed other than the standard plastic ones then you best get up at around 0330 to get them otherwise they are gone without fail before breakfast opens.

THOMSON EXCURSIONS – We did the 4 most popular trips available, this being the ‘3 Cities Tour’, ‘4x4 Adventure’, ‘Zulu Evening’ & ‘Market Fever’ The only one of these that I wouldn’t recommend is the Market Fever trip; it was an hour or so in a tiny modern market that kind of resembled Kempton market but with more robes and trinkets. We then we went on to a wine tasting at a local vineyard. None of the wines were particularly nice and the staff were quite rude to be honest. The other trips were very good, the guides where full of information and you rarely lingered at one place for too long. For anyone that isn’t particularly a culture vulture then I would recommend the Zulu evening the most. It consisted of a few hours going round a large zoo where you can feed a few of the animals get pictures taken with the performing sea lion (the show was well worth watching too) and then you have a traditional African meal and as much red wine as you can drink with some very good African dinner entertainment.

TUNISIAN AIRPORT – Horrible experience. Our arrival was fine but going back we barely caught our flight and we got there nearly 3 hours early. It was a nightmare. I’ll say no more on this because I’ll just get angry; however I would strongly advise that you try and get a Thomson flight both ways, Nouvel Air are horrific.

My Wife and I stayed here 30th July- 10th Aug 2014 in room 408. I believe comments in other reviews such as stained carpets and poor finishes to bathroom walls are irrelevant. I wanted to write my review in a constructive way in order that the management can take note and make some small improvements which would lift the rating of this hotel to a good four star.
I want to start by saying that Hedi was born for the role he plays within the management team. Superbly camp at the right level. He has the ability to adjust his personality to the individual guest. He only made one mistake during our time there. During a 'Lottery' game around the main pool he announced to one winner they had won two weeks in Afghanistan. This was a joke but I am certain European people with family in the military did not find this funny. Enough said.
The food served at the Scheherazade is very good. They have their own internal quality check people who can be seen regularly taking temps and making notes etc. We loved the curries and tomatoes. Absolutely no complaints on breakfast, lunch or dinner. The Indian al a carte was also very good.
Saturday night is gala night, the restaurant moves to the courtyard pool which is a lovely setting. However, the area is tight for space down the sides and dinner quickly becomes a cattle market. All the food is in a different place so except some searching. On the black and white evening the meat and chicken dishes were very popular the queue for these were ridiculous. We watched guests queue for 20-25 minutes. Hedi and the hotel manager were clearly panicking about this and tried to reassure people in the waiting line. The tip is arrive early! Hotel management - you need to review this situation and perhaps have two meat and chicken points.
Now for the staff in general. Tipping will win you friends. Its hard to find the right amount. We took dollars which didn't seem very popular so we switched to Dinar in the restaurant the service changed immediately. 10 every other night after dinner did the trick. Stick to one table in the main restaurant if you can and get to know the waiters around that area. They are pleasant people. We left dollars for the room maid for which she seemed very grateful.
Both pool bars are a disappointment. They only serve beer, lager and wine plus soft drinks. These taste ok though. The main pool bar is a serving hatch in the corner of the kitchen for the outdoor snack bar. Closing the door behind you carrying three drinks is a chore. There is room for massive improvement here. The staff will not bring your drinks to your sunbed unless you tip. They also whip your (partly empty sometimes) cheap plastic cup away before you can blink if your not observant. I believe it would contribute to that 4 star status if staff would go that extra mile here. Bring water/soft drinks/fruit around a couple of times a day, it would make a big difference.
I want to comment on a small incident that took place on Thursday 7th. The entertainment & water sports guy had what can only be described as a 'fight' in the main pool after a game of water polo. Slapping each other with a tee shirt and woggle or noodle as they are known as now. It was very embarrassing and my wife and I got our books wet in the process with the splashing. These two childish urchins need sorting out.
The rooms are adequate and not half as bad as other reviewers are saying. Water sports are the cheapest I have come across so have a go at everything.
The senior staff all wore scruffy polo shorts and this needs reviewing. It is hard to distinguish them. Saying that Hedi could never be mistaken anywhere. Keep it up Tunisian Gok!
Tea and coffee- I like this facility in the room, but you have to keep this topped up yourself. Why they cant provide powdered milk is a mystery. Having to transfer proper milk from various locations to the room is a pain. Also staff need to keep on top of cutlery, cup, saucer and plate availability in the main restaurant. These were really lacking at times.
The beach area cant be changed unfortunately. Beyond the hotel boundary its not good. Rubbish everywhere. The location of the hotel is no good for admiring the culture of Tunisia so be aware of that.
I never return to the same place but I would recommend a holiday here. No screaming kids! The entertainment cycles over 7 days, its ok. The terrible duo had left when we arrived. The female singer on Sat night is excellent.
Fellow guests- if you are going to save the luxury sunbeds the night before have the manners and courtesy to at least use them the next day before noon. I was ashamed to be British watching this daily fiasco. Management need to sort this out. Perhaps an allocation system would be better and give other guests a chance to at least experience these comfy sun beds once on their holiday. The main pool attendant/security guys are excellent and hard working they didn't expect a tip either.
So adapt to the times, improve the none tipping based service, dress code, personal touch maybe replace them carpets and paint the bathrooms to please the masses and you will not be far off.
Hedi-Your Sister says Hi
