“One of the best holidays”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2014

I read the reviews on this hotel and thought it cant be that good. Beleive me it is. From start to finish we had a wonderful holiday.
The staff are brilliant. Nothing is too much trouble. The service by the waiters is first class.
The food is superb. A different theme every night. Hotel kept very clean.
Must also thank Kirk the tompson rep. We mentioned it was our 30th wedding anniversay. When we got back to the room it had been decorated by the maid, and an extra bottle of wine and a card had been left for us.
No problems getting a bed on the beach. And the great bonus is there are no kids. Bliss.
We enjoyed it so much we are looking to go back in May.
Tip. A small tip to the waiters and they go the extra mile.

Just returned from our holiday at Couples Sheherazade!!!We have stayed at Couples for years and this was the BEST!!!From the moment we arrived we were treated like Royalty!Applause from staff as we got off the coach and food was available even though it was late at night!!!Room was lovely with free Champagne, fruit and robes!!View was stunning,Sea and pool view too!!Staff incredible,so hard working, from the maintenance team right through to management and entertainments.Food was amazing!!So much choice and the quality was excellent!Lots of food prepared in front of you, theme nights every night with something for every taste!I will admit that the dress code was not followed by many, but when did what people wear upset your dining experience???Beach was overseen by security and was spotless every day!!Both pools were also spotless!Sun lounger reserving was a small problem, people going to drastic lengths to secure a good position and the more comfortable loungers too!!
Now!!Im saving the best till last!HEDI is the absolute STAR of the show!!!!He IS the Entertainment at the hotel!!We had such a great time poolside watching Hedi entertain us all!!Involving everybody(including the staff!!) to join in with games and fun!!We are booking up for next year!!!!!!!

My boyfriend and I have just arrived back from the Couples Sousse Hotel yesterday. We stayed for two weeks (03/08/14-17/08/14) and can safely say it was the best holiday we have had yet. We went for our second Anniversary and the hotel made the entire experience so memorable and special for us. I will break this down into points so its easier to read.

ARRIVAL
Upon arrival we were greeted with singing and clapping staff members who ushered us into the hotel and were taken straight to the restaurant for something to eat. We were then instructed to take a seat at reception in order to fill in some minor quick paperwork and were given a cold towel, heart shaped chocolate and a cocktail. We felt that this was fantastic considering it was 12.30am and it was just what we needed after a long journey. The porter then carried our luggage to our rooms for us so we didn't have to lift a finger - perfect.

ROOM
The room was lovely. Neat, tidy and clean. The room had a complimentary bottle of red wine, a bottle of water and coke in the fridge. There was also fruit on the counter which we thought was a nice touch. The towels were folded into swans with rose petals around them on our bed which I thought was quite romantic and cute. I cannot stress enough how ridiculous I find the complaints about the bathroom I've read on here. Who really cares if they are not tiled? My boyfriend and I found it mind boggling how much people seem to complain about this. The bathroom in my opinion is perfectly substantial and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. The bed also seemed to get a bit of a grilling on here, but we honestly had the best sleeps ever on it! - Even better than our bed at home. No need for mattress toppers. There was a big TV with enough channels to keep us entertained and the balcony was overlooking a gorgeous sea view. What more could you want?

POOL
There are two pools to choose from but we always chose the main pool next to the pool bar although the court yard pool is beautiful too. There was never ever a problem getting a sunbed, even on the one occasion we had a lie in and didn't come down till nearer 11am. I cannot really comment on the so called competition for the more 'luxury' sunbeds as my boyfriend and I felt no need to compete for them. Most of them have a canopy style top to them and are therefore shaded - not ideal when we wanted a good tan! There are normal sun loungers that are perfectly comfortable but there are also ones that are more like beds. I can quite believe that people had to get up ludicrously early for them though, as one morning we witnessed couples getting up before 5am just to reserve one. Seems a bit extreme to us but as I said, the regular sun loungers are fine. All areas at the main pool seemed to get sun throughout the entire day too, which was a major bonus for me. The pool bar only serves wine and beer, which suited us fine as we weren't bothered about the cocktails. The pool bar also serves lunch at 12.30pm every day and I thought this was particularly good. We opted to eat here instead of inside at lunchtime because we loved the burgers, Lebanese chicken and club sandwiches so much!

BEACH
The beach looked lovely, although we always chose to sunbathe poolside as we heard about jellyfish stings happening in the water. The beach never once had seaweed on the sand and never once did we encounter rubbish. Other people have complained on here about it smelling too which is nonsense. We got up at 5am to watch the sunrise on our anniversary and the beach had already been raked and was absolutely picture perfect immaculate. Totally picturesque and if you enjoy holiday relaxing on the beach its perfect.

FOOD
The food was incredible. The best I've ever experienced at an all inclusive. Different themed nights made us look forward to dinner each night. The staff dress colour coordinated to each night and the table is decorated according to the theme too. Our favourite was probably Tunisian night and Gala night. Never once did we encounter food that was too spicy throughout the whole trip! Fresh food is cooked right in front of you too which makes it good fun. Breakfast was great and we loved the omelettes. Contrary to what I've read on here we did in fact get bacon TWICE during our trip in the morning by the egg man, although it must be a rarity! The only negative from our whole holiday is that my boyfriend sadly got a piece of raw swordfish one night but the minute I pointed this out to a waiter, the head chef and maitre d came over to apologise and scattered our table with rose petals and cooked my boyfriend a fresh plate of fish and vegetables just for him. I thought this was excellently handled by the staff.
For our anniversary we paid £200 dinar (about £70) for a romantic dinner on the beach and it did not disappoint neither. We were served a 6 course meal by our own personal waiter and the head chef even came out to check we were satisfied with the meal. It was absolutely gorgeous and the best anniversary present I've ever had. I would 100% recommend this to other couples because even though it was pricey, it was so worth it. We eat out at a lot at home and the food was better than some of the top restaurants we've experienced before.

ENTERTAINMENT
We only really witnessed the vegas dancers, acrobats and the gentleman that sang most nights as we often hung out together in the bar downstairs at night time and all acts were excellent. We didn't witness the sand man but we heard he's pretty good too. The downstairs pool bar did all your usual spirits, wine, cocktails and shots so if you want to have a boozy night you've got plenty of choice! There's also a shisha area too which we liked but they can take flavoured shisha to your table too if you wish.

STAFF
I have to start off by mentioning Hedi the Guest Relations Manager. What an asset he is to this hotel. He was constantly asking each couple if they were enjoying their stay and if there is anything he can do to help them/improve their experience. I have never encountered this before, not even at a 5* resort. He really does take time to ensure everyone is happy which I found so lovely. He is absolutely hilarious too and a joy to be around. He was so entertaining and my boyfriend and I were constantly in knots at his wit and humour! He really does make this hotel what it is and I hope he gets the credit he deserves! He arranged for our cleaner to scatter rose petals around our room on anniversary too - thank you again for this.
We would also like to mention the 'towel man' Oussama. What a man!! So lovely and genuine. He works such long days too - often 12/15 hours. We tipped him plenty and he often kept cushions for our sunbeds for us. Please give him employee of the month because he deserves it. Nouredine was excellent too - the happiest cleaner in Tunisia! He always stopped to talk to us and was always so happy and friendly and chatty. Our photographer Dolphike (I'm not sure how to spell it!) was excellent too. So genuine and lovely. To be honest, all the staff deserve recognition as they are all so happy and wonderful, always saying hello and asking how we are. They can't do more for you.

EXCURSIONS
We had already read a lot of negative comments about Ali Baba on here about him being pushy and rude but we came in with the attitude that we would simply book our chosen excursions on day 1, therefore minimising our chances of being harassed. We read about negative experiences on here that couples had with him made and this made us dread meeting him, but we actually found him really pleasant and pretty funny. He is a bit of a Del Boy, so I would recommend just doing what we did and booking your excursions with him ASAP to avoid any hassle. He is persistent but is only doing his job. We only did the Pirate Ship excursion because we weren't too bothered about the others and it was generally ok. Some of the foreign passengers on the ship were incredibly rude however, which let it down a bit for us. The food on the ship was really quite good and we saw dolphins - as promised by Ali Baba!
On site we decided to spend our money on a couples massage and para-sailing. The massage was wonderful and I would definitely recommend the para-sailing. Its only 50 dinar (about £20) for both of us to fly together and it was good fun!

WEATHER
Spot on. Over 30 degrees each day and one day it was 45. It only rained on the day we were going home which we found a little bit ironic. There are plenty of parasols poolside so I would suggest ensuring that you get dibs on one of these each morning as we seen some nasty burns on other guests. You'll need factor 30 atleast for the heat in August.

So all in all, we had an absolutely incredible time. I actually cried when we were about to leave and it didn't help when the staff came out to watch our coach depart waving white hankies! A lovely touch nonetheless however. I would like to thank Couples Sousse again for making my boyfriend and I's anniversary so special. I'll remember it forever and I'm so glad we chose this hotel. I would recommend it to any other couple looking for a romantic getaway. You won't regret it.

Love Ashleigh and Greig (room 109) xxx

My husband and I spent 2 weeks here returning home on the 3rd August. We had a fantastic time. The food was of a high standard and plenty of it. Being a veggie I sometimes struggle for variety when on holiday but there was so much choice and food was marked if it was vegetarian so that helped with my choices. Every member of staff had a friendly face and always spoke to you. The waiters were so helpful, it would be difficult to pick a favourite although Mundher was very sweet and efficient. The view from our room was the best we have ever had. The sunrises were magnificent, my husband got up every morning to see them and to take photos. My regret is that at the beginning of the holiday I didn't get up to see the sunrise, I wish I had seen them all. We both enjoyed several treatments in the spa, where again the staff were so kind. At no time were we pressured to buy more. The sunbed situation is quite funny with people reserving beds. We watched 1 couple hurry down and lay their towels out and arrange their beds, both with their backs to the sun as it rose and then returned inside. I feel sorry for people like that. One day we watched a woman reserve a bed (one of the round ones) at 5.20am, that bed wasn't used that day by anyone, pool attendants took the mickey and made sculptures with the towels. There is a pool attendant called Lteaf that my husband always liked to chat to in the mornings. The entertainment was varied and of a high standard with plenty of space to pull up a chair and relax with a drink. This is the first adult only holiday we have been on and we definately will do adult only again. Would I go back? Yes without a doubt, already looking for next year hopefully. Can't really find a fault but next time I will take my own towels as the pool towels are not that big.

Room Tip: Top floor, best views. Room 808

A fantastic hotel, wonderful attentive staff and views to die for, not to mention the gorgeous food and plentiful supplies of drink of every kind. Relax, feast and drink as much as you like, swim in the wonderful courtyard pool or plunge into the sea, use the gym with beach front views - you have to try it to believe it.

Room Tip: All rooms have sea views and air con - we were on the second floor and found it great.

All though this is not the best hotel we have stopped in it is of a good standard, it has by far the best staff you would ever wish to have, the rooms were nice and clean and all facing the sea, pool areas are very clean with plenty of sun beds no mater what time you went down, the food was good always hot and a good choice, we would recommend this hotel to all our friends, and are looking at going back next year, the cream on the cake is no kids.

Room Tip: No rooms are far from reception, all seem quiet.

My girlfriend and I have just returned from couples sousse on 13/8/14
We had a wonderful time, very relaxing! We couldn't of asked anymore of the staff who were a credit to themselves. Tammy and Kirk were extremely helpful in any incident/advice if needed. The food was very good, some themed nights better than others, but you certainly won't go hungry!! The guy from Ali Baba Excursions is persistent but if your not interested just tell him from the beginning and he will leave you alone. We made friends with a couple who went on his boat excursion and they came back saying it was rubbish and that he had charged couples different prices! Our room was lovely which was cleaned every day. We were away from where the evening entertainment was held so our room was quieter than others. Amazing views to wake up to every morning. Only little complaint would be the sunbed situation, luckily we weren't fused about what sunbed we had, but there were many BRITISH people that were getting the same comfy sun beds everyday!!! There were two ladies who were 'repeat' guests who even had reserved towels and got the same bed everyday, we came to the conclusion they must have been putting them out the night before. I even overheard one of the ladies telling the lifeguard it was her bed (very sad)!! But it did make us laugh.
All in all we had a fabulous holiday, anyone who has a serious moan about this place, would moan about anything!!
