I think I must have been at a different hotel to the one people are complaining about. There were 7 of us ranging from 10 to 70 and we had a great time. Of course there are some issues. Any holiday will have that. I personally found some of the reception staff very unhelpful. Booking in was ridiculously slow. All other staff were great though. The hotel was clean and the food was good. Yes it is expected that you tip staff but not very much and surely that isn't unreasonable. They are on terrible wages. The pool is very nice and the slides are great fun. I can't speak highly enough of the animation staff they are superb. They go out of their way to include everyone and are great fun. The daytime activities are the usual things like water polo and darts and are a great laugh and there is a funny game every day which is always good. There is a complaint on here about the kids disco being the same every night. It's for kids for crying out loud and from what I saw they loved it. Some of the evening entertainment is a bit poor but what are you expecting at an all inclusive holiday?
I agree with another contributor, the airport is ridiculous. Far too slow. 2 hours to get from landing to collecting luggage. They don't appear to be able to cope with the numbers arriving and can put off people going back. It wasn't any better when leaving.
Overall we had a great holiday. I would happily return to this country and also happily return to this hotel
Maybe not the kind of holiday for everybody but I thought it was great
One word of warning, beware of the offered free trip. It is just an excuse to try to sell you an expensive carpet and when you don't buy the get quite angry

I have difficulty in recognising the comments made by some of the critics of the Mahraba Hotel who seem to have had a less than enjoyable viisit. I spent two weeks in October during very good weather and found the location right on the beach to be a great asset for swimming and also for strolling along the water edge. My room in the refurbished section of the hotel was spacious and well maintained, including a full-sized bath and shower. The public rooms were also clean and well maintained and the restaurant was efficient with a typical package hotel self-service menu. Special English, Italian and Tunisian nights in the restaurant provided added interest to the meals. The drinks provided under the all-inclusive package were the usual local beverages so were not particularly strong. I found the staff to be pleasant and efficient. I was very satisfied with the hotel, but might not have been so pleased during the high season when I would imagine it could become rather crowded and noisy. The big problem with holidaying in Tunisia is getting through the airport and this could dissuade me from further visits. The queue through immigration on entry meant standing for around an hour in the heat and when we left it took one and a half hours to negotiate the security, immigrantion and checking in queues. The authorities seem unwilling or unable to staff the immigration and security desks and the result is one of the worst holiday airports I have experienced.

Room Tip: Ask for room in refurbished section. I was told rooms in some other parts are in need of upgrading

hi just got back from hotel marhaba the drinks are really bad most of the time i didnt notice any alcohol in my drink it was that bad, when it rains there was no entertainment at all for kids they were just left to run around the lobby or be in the room the beach gets closed around 8.00pm, In the day sitting by the pool i would get asked at least 3 - 4 times by the same man did i want to ride a camel which really cheesed my off or walking on the beach is even worse a man was trying to put things on childrens heads and saying it was free so i walked away and then the man came and grabbed it off his head once he knew i was not giving him any money so it was not free at all the staff were ok but too overly friendly for me they will just sit next to you and talk for hours i went for a break not for strangers to annoy me
I WOULD NEVER GO BACK IF IT WAS FREE!!!!!

we travelled 2nd of oct and stayed 2 weeks............well it was our 3rd trip to this hotel and again we loved it. the staff are very friendly and looked after us so well they made our holiday so much better the room was clean and comfy like al previous visits. we found the food alright always plenty of choice the only complaint we would have is the choice for children isn't great but still the kids choices were not too bad. after being to this hotel three times we find that the staff from the bar staff to the cleaners ad waiters are all very friendly and are excellent with the children aslong as you offer them some comman curtousy say hello use please and thank you this will get you along way and they will treat you well small tips for your waiter 10 dinnar is 4 pounds whats 4 pounds for being looked after excellently for 14 nights people ? I see a lot of reviews on here complaining about the staff and unfriendly people I have never experienced this. the animation team was a different set of people tis time round but they were just as good and could not be faulted when it came to entertaining the kids these guys work long days and always have a smile the kids loved their time there and enjoyed the entertainment these guys are a credit to the entertainments manager who works really hard to provide fun for all well done guys. in my view this hotel is perfect for what we want in a holiday and we are going back in march. everyone is different and not everyone likes the same things so my advice would be try it yourself and make up your own mind about the place.......another fantastic two weeks thanks guys x

Room Tip: ask for a refurbished room they are lovely the old part of the hotel is not a good standard as of yet
