“We will be back!”
Reviewed 4 June 2010

We were on AI basis and found the hotel was kept very clean with cleaners continually doing the rounds. We enjoyed the food but I have to say if you don't enjoy Tunisian food you would probably complain at what was on offer. There was more than enough to choose from at every meal and it waiters kept continually filling our glasses up with wine throughout. They were very pleasant and in no way expected us to tip them every time as some people would indicate. The only draw back was having to return to the hotel dining area to eat lunch as the beach bar was not open at this time of the year and so it disrupted our beach life as we had to go in and get changed every lunch time whereas we would have preferred to eat something light around the beach. We did in fact make up sandwiches at breakfast for the last few days and take them to the beach with us as it was possible to buy drinks on the beach. We were allowed one evening meal in the A La Carte restaurant which was waiter service, this made a nice change. The hotel was in a fantastic location on the beach and within easy walking distance to Sousse centre, we also walked along the beach one day to Port El Kantoui which was nice. We upgraded our room before we went to have a sea view and this was well worth doing as we had a larger room even though we didn't particularly go out on to the balcony that much. We found the staff very friendly and the bar staff did not expect tips either and worked very hard. The local drinks (spirits) left a lot to be desired but we did get used to them, the beer was okay and we found Tiberine and Coke to be the best drink although surprisingly the whisky wasn't too bad. The gin didn't taste anything like gin as we know it but the brandy was palatable too. The only rude person we came across was the person in charge of the sunbeds who was only what I can describe as horrible, he expected tips every day from people just for putting a sunbed out for them. We were quite happy to do this ourselves but he objected to this. To my mind sunbeds should already be set out on the beach when you go down to the beach, in fact every hotel we saw all the way to Port El Kantoui had their beds set out on the beach. One of the reasons for going AI is so that you don't have to carry money around with you. We can't comment too much on the entertainment as we only tried it one night and after about 15 minutes we left as it was useless and geared up for the children. This was held in the disco from 9 pm which I thought was much too late for young children as it didn't finish until about 11 pm. We did try the disco one night which was supposed to start at 11 pm but after waiting for half an hour and nothing happened we got bored and left. I think this needs to start at 11 pm as there is nothing else to do and people got fed up of hanging around and just went to bed. There is a fantastic spa in the hotel and on the second day we spent all morning having various massages and treatments and went back for more on our last day, it is well worth a visit and totally relaxing. We do intend going back next year though as all in all we had a brilliant holiday and will give the entertainment another try. The beaches were kept clean and the resort itself didn't have an air of dirtiness about it. The medina was brilliant for shopping but don't be put off by people trying to drag you into their shops, it is worth putting up with we bought some brilliant pottery. Can't comment much on resort entertainment as we didn't go out in the evening except to watch football. There is a brilliant bar which shows all the games in the Taj Marhaba Centre over the road to the hotel, the Rose and Crown and the staff were really friendly. We loved the resort and look forward to going back next Easter.

Stayed here for a week and had a wonderful time. The location couldn't be better; on the beach and only a 10-20 minute walk from the medina (depending on who you are walking with. We were with mother-in-law so it took a little longer.) The service from restaurant, snack bar and bar staff was excellent. If you are polite and friendly to them they reciprocate and look after you. The reception staff were, however, a little stand offish and didn't seem keen to help when we had a problem contacting our transfer company for the transfer back to the airport for our return home. This said, the rest of the holiday was fabulous. Food was plentiful and varied and always fresh, drinks were always available. Plenty of space for the amount of people, although people were still up at 6am to claim a sunbed by the pool,in the gardens or on the beach!! Check-in took a while as rooms weren't ready but we were able to have some lunch while we waited so the wait wasn't too bad. Cold soft drinks were served on our arrival. This is a lovely hotel for a relaxing break, as there is the beach, the outdoor pool or the indoor pool to relax in.

Having just come back from the riadha palms hotel, i felt compelled to write a review on the place as, on a a whole i found the place below standards and a big dissappointment, considering it was a so called 4 star hotel. it is most certainly not a 4 star in fact its berly even a 2 star.

firstly though i will high light the positives

the entrance is grand and nice, the majority of the staff were nice, pleasant and help full, the rooms were cleaned daily. it was clean. the bars were ok, the ones you dont have to pay for that is.

this is were the positives end,

the food here was absaloutly disgustuing, served via a buffet style, it offent was cold, even when just brought out, not good for meat. if it was meat some of it was very hard to establish what it was. so called hot dishes were often cold.

one of the staff memebers shout and abused my girlfriend when on the beach until he realised that i was with her, in which case he completly changed his tune, some of the things he said was out of order and completly offensive.

there was not enough beach beds or beds by the pool, you have to get up extremly early to even get a seat! i was up at 6-30 one day watchin from the balcony as people went out to get seats.

As for the room, we were given 2 singles in stead of a double, something that will happen to you. 2 of the 3 plug sockets did not work. the shower often went hot to cold, and to get it started we often had to grabb it with pliers

terrible, do not expect much from this hotel. nice staff but apart from that very poor

My wife and I stayed at this hotel between the 9th and 16th of May 2010. From the reviews I have read there are some points I agree and disagree with.
I think I will just mention the worst experience of my stay and the reason I will not be returning to this hotel:
One afternoon we were having lunch at the outside restaurant by the pool bar, when two members of security went into the kitchen and returned with a plate of food which they fed to some cats who were being fed and stroked by ourselves and other hotel guests. Within minutes the cats had died.
At this point we left the area and returned to our room, we’re unsure as to how long the cats’ bodies were left out in the open.
The next day, one English girl had rescued a motherless four-week-old kitten, and fed it for the next three days until a home could be found.
On reading reviews left from other guests regarding food poisoning, I wonder if any cats went missing that week, as the favourite place for mixing cat-poison with food appears to be in the kitchens.

Just returned from Riadh Palms Hotel Sousse. Hotel and food excellent. Our party consisted of my husband and our adult son. we had booked two rooms with sea view, we were allocated one room which at first we were concerned but were told it was a very good room. To our surprise it was a suite, with two bathrooms three piece suite dining table and chairs, king size bed. three single beds two balconies and a huge bay window with views o the beach and pool. The food was amazing excellent choice at all meals (we were all inclusive). I do not know how anyone can fault the food. Also the entertainment was great, the animation team worked hard they were friendly and took time to talk to you. they were great with older people and fantastic with the kids. The shows they did themselves were marvelous, the Irish dancing was superb the miss competition and the comedy sketch was hilarious. They are a talented bunch of people so I would like to thank them as they made our holiday complete. We are considering going back in the summer. sue Gerard & Marc Kirk Merrington Co. Durham

Hotel was massive and location perfect. Far enough to walk into sousse and close to port el kantuee to. Shops round hotel good as able to browes without to much hassle. Food amazing and lots of varity. But if your looking for everything english then maybe Tunisia not for u and Blackpool shud be concidered. Rooms cleaned every day and pool area fab. Directly on beach and no trouble from beach sellers as security down beach and venders not allowed any further up beach than sea front. Glass constantly filled while lay on the beach pure heaven. Went on camel caravan to ostrich park. Funny and well worth money. Pirate ship not worth bothering with. Lots of entertainment in hotel for everyone. Paid extra for seaview room wich was in new part of hotel 1120. Great view and so big had 5 beds in. Hotel staff helpful and very friendly. Went with my husband but kids well catered for to. Think people shud take bad reviews with pinch of salt and go and see for there selves. Was more than worth the money. Taxi from sousse centre 2dt which is less than a £1. But agree price before getting in and make sure if there is more than 1 of u that taxi driver understands that the price u are agreeing is for whole taxi not per person. Wud reccommend and wud def go back.

Right lets get it straight this is not a 5 star luxury hotel hence the price id say in general by english standards a very good 3 star but what you do get is 5 star service all the way, nothing is to much for all the staff especially if you tip them at some point remember this is a poor country so a few quid here and there for good service is nothing to us.

The hotel is going through a renovation at the moment but didnt really affect us much, on entry first impressions are fantastic, a grand marble twin staircase at reception meets you with chandeliers. We arrived at 11am and were told the room wasnt ready but they gave us our wrist band and started our day with lunch by the pool, 2 choices here dine inside or dine at neptunes poolside bar the latter is best for lunch and by 3pm the cakes and doughnuts come out freshly cooked so indulge. The pool itself is amazing if a little cold but dive right in. The beach is lovely with turquoise waters and plenty of watersports to choose from. Now there are alot of people trying to sell trips and are a bit pushy but they just want to help you see the country and earn a little for themselves, we did the pirate cruise and quad biking which was brilliant a good laugh on both, try the 2 day safari if you have time.

The hotel is very mixed in tourists, many from germany, france, russia and poland but apart from the odd one very friendly and just want to relax. It is a huge hotel and does get busy in the evenings. The food in general is fine pretty much the same each evening but you will always find something to eat, then there is the cake stand wow is all i can say.

This holiday was very special to me and my now fiance as we got engaged on the saturday and the staff at the a la carte restaurant went out of there way to make it special for us both, so thanks to you all.

The evening entertainment was a good laugh most nights and the animation team do work very hard night and day to make it fun for all ages. We met some lovely people towards the end of our stay, ryan and charlotte, kelly and your fella oh and mark from geordie land just wish we had met them all sooner.

So to sum up if you want a great value for money hotel with great facilites and hot weather by the beach this is a must, if you want 5 star luxury head for the caribean and pay 3 times as much.

thanks to you all at Riadh Palms Glyn and Lynda
