“hotel clean, food ok, beach lovely, pool ok if u r a pensioner, some of the staff need to smile and be a bit polite”
Reviewed 20 May 2010

went to the marhaba beach hotel for 2 weeks 5th may to the 19th.
there wasnt a lot of choice food wise but the food was always nice and fresh.
the hotel itself was lovely and clean but the bathroom needs updated as the toilet was leaking and the shower was a bit outdated but on the hole was ok.
some of the staff were friendly but some of them could do with a lesson in manners they werent rude but it was as if it was too much trouble to serve u at the bars.
the beach was lovely u just had to keep saying no too the sellers on the beach cos they can get on your nerves a bit. they had plenty of things going on in the day activities volley ball, french bowls which was fun, aerobics in the sea and stretching on the beach. they had golf darts water polo french bowls at the pool, but the pool was too small and if u didnt get your towel on the sunbed before 6am u were out of luck. mind we didnt stay by the pool cos it seemed as if it were for the older folk, u know the tea and biscuit type.
overall i enjoyed my relaxing holiday but i found the evenings boring and there was nowhere to go outside in the nights so its not really my cup of tea so i wouldnt return and wouldnt recommed it unless u just enjoyed the beach in the day and wanted to watch tv of an evening.

This was our 4th visit to Tunisia but our 1st to Sousse. As usual we were queueing to get through passport control for the usual half hour or so but you just need to stay calm and realise that Tunisians don't rush! The transfer was around 30 mins and we were checked into our room fairly quickly with a cocktail while we waited. The whole hotel was clean. our room overlooked the fantastic beach and sea! the food was fantastic the whole week. I couldn't resist warm croissants & pancakes for breakfast everyday! Dinner was a good variety & the puddings were amazing! The pool was disappointing! The water was very low and you had to climb down a ladder over a high rim! A bit of advice.. use the pool at the next door Marhaba Hotel. It is so much better. You need to go to their reception, get a card, put some money on it then you go to their pool bar and pay 1 dinar (50p) per day for a sunbed there! For those of you who have been to the Riviera Hotel in Port El Kantaoui you will feel at home as the whole animation team is now at this hotel!! The animation team in the Marhaba beach were lovely but their season had not quite started whilst we were there. All in all a lovely holiday great weather, great hotel lovely people.

Food selection very poor as you dont even get cold meat with your salad.
It took us close on an hour to check in as it was total cahos. we were issued with id cards for AI drinks but when you got a drink even though it was a small glass you had to wait for 5 minutes even if you was hot and thirsty.
The entertainment was good most nights and the animation team tried their best to keep everybody happy. I had a good laugh.
Most of the staff were friendly and polite but some were more rude and arrogant than some of the east european guests.
Staff try hard to sell you tickets for the drag show and we were promissed good seats to be kept for us it was a false promise.
The photographer in the foyer was very pushy to keep selling you photos as we bought some but had to keep telling him no thank you for the rest.
You can rent a safety deposit box for 2 dnr a day in reception which was a good thing .
The cleanliness was exellent, and the cats were a pain.
Overall I wont go back to this hotel and thomson need to revalue this hotel.

Just got back from a week all inclusive with friends(2-9th May), it was ok! Location was the best thing, smack bang right on the beach, the waiters/waiteress were friendly coming round the beach/pool area to take your drink orders. Food ok in the restaurant, beach bar is best at lunch times the baguettes are lovely and salad and strawberries very refreshing. Rooms are clean and bathroom is of a good size. Had a view of the sea to the right of us from our balcony which was nice in the mornings. Everybody goes on about how good the animation team are! their ok if your 8 anything over than that and its a bit embarassing watching them!!! their caberet night was awlful!!!! the hotel do get in on tuesday an indian night show, which is good and on a friday was belly dancers who were FANTASTIC. Arrived to spend over an hour trying to book in!!!! the reception staff couldn't seem to deal with about 25 of us arriving at once!!!! they give you a card with your pic on for all inclusive, so taking the pic seemed a trama for them!!!! the pool is nice, it is the smallest though in the group, as there are two sister hotels to it and their pools are huge to this one!!! Im glad we went when we did as the hotel started to get busy a couple of days before we left and people were just starting to get into arguments over sun loungers. By 6am all were gone as people had put towels etc on them. That was starting to get annoying!!!! You have to visit the medina (market) its great to haggle with them and the stall holders are really friendly. Go to the welcolme meeting as well with Fitti as it is really informative and he is really funny and good at his job. Booked a camel caravan with him, was really funny Overall ok, but i wouldn't go back or recommend it.

I stayed from the 2 May - 9 May, A few things that i feel may be of help, first when you arrive at the Airport you are required to fill out a arrival Card which also need for your departure, nearly everyone on our flight was unsure what was required as no one had pre warned us, so have a pen ready and look for someone holding cards! After that everything went well. Transfer time was about 40 mins. After arriving at the Hotel we made our way to the reception, the booking in process took us nearly a Hour, we first had to book in then wait for our ID card then finaly get our room! Again it would have been nice to be pre warned! The Hotel is very clean as are the rooms. The Pool area is always kept clean. Those wanting beds be warned guests started putting towels out from 6 am so by 9 they had all gone! While around the Hotel, Pool and Beach Area waiters are about for those on fully inclu hand in your card when you require drinks, there are menus with what drinks that are included, they also take cash for those not full inclu. Food was good, plenty of choice in the Hotel, lunch was also available at the beach, get there early as tables go fast!! There was things to do around the Hotel during the day, the Entertainment team ran Volley Ball, Water Polo, Mini Golf and so on. In the Evening the same Entertainment team organised the evenings events, on the odd evening acts where brought in. To us the team came across like a few lads messing about having a good laugh. Make sure you pay a visit to the local Medina, yes they do try to take you into thier shops if you dont want too be firm and say no! most will laugh and joke while you haggle over the price! Over all we had a great stay!!!

The hotel was average and I would not especially choose to go to this hotel again. The rooms look better on the photos than they really are and the bathrooms definitely require up dating and a good scrub- watch out for the showers as they go hot and cold (mainly cold!) constantly. If you have a bad back then the beds would do you no good the mattresses are old and placed on concreate, with a step on the right side which would be problematic for anyone with mobility problems. It's easier to roll of f the end of the bed! A good TV and choice of channels. It would have been nice to have maybe a few drinks in the room or a fridge especially the all inclusive deal, but drinks availble throughout the day.A levely clean beach with on beach food and drink with toilet facltites - excellent. The pools on the complex were disapponting as not as good as photos ; the in door pool warm but dirty and very deep (especially for children). The snack cafe very good and nice to be able to have cups of tea late at night in a pot! Food satisfactory but nothing exotic- but inline with inclusive deals- bar drinks same limited for all inclusive so don't expect any exotic cocktails or wine you'll be disappointed. The last day in restaurent the table had flowers which was a nice gesture. Most of staff very helpful like consiege maid waiters-but some bar staff were rude and not simply a misunderstanding neither was it the Tunisian communication culture- they were rude and all too happy to get rid of us by the Sat and Sun and ready for the next batch of holiday makers and tips. The hotel was geared for entertainment and this was offered to children. We found the Arabic lessons very useful by the animation team. Many Eastern Eurpeans towards the end and getting very busy. Make sure the water is boiled for the tea and coffee as the Hotel did give luke warm water when it came from the earns and a number of guests did have diarrhoea . As for value for money OK but not a 4+ as advertised and no we woild not go back again though we did simply relax in the hotel grounds and read.
