Right, where do I start!
Bad impressions just as we landed in the country. Me and my boyfriend had the same suitcases and had two key chains on them to be sure its ours. After and hour and a half wait for the suitcases we then found out that the key chains where taken off and probably kept which I was very angry about as it was a present to us both. As we got to the hotel I did like the idea of the hotel being further away from the main street as it was more quieter. We was tired and excausted after a long journey and reception staff order us to fill in unnacessary forms. We went as 3 couples and asked for rooms right next to eachother and got told that the Hotel is over booked and they can not do that. 1 couple got a room near reception me my boyfriend and the other couple got rooms allocated in the bungalow!! I have booked rooms with a balcony/seaview!! I didnt have no energy to argue but then worst came to worst when we entered the rooms. the 2 rooms that were given to us was 20 doors away our room was old and dark. We went to have a look at our friends room. This is where I got VERY angry. their room was new with a kingsize bed garden balkony, clean and just simply nicer to stay in. I immmediatelly went to the reception to complain as it is not fair we have oaid the same price and we get less. The reception staff immediatelly said that he can't do nothing about it today and we should come in the morning. The next morning I didnt want to mak my holiday a mess so we decided to stay to only find it that every single day we had lizards in the bathroom which I was scared of everytime I had to get in the bath.
Staff!! Oh my God never seen a ruder selection of staff in any country (i travelled to quite alot of countries). The rudeness at the pool, the beach the camel selling just made me sick. One evening we was quite late for dinner but we still had 15 minutes left till closing time we started filling our plates up just to find out we are not allowed to eat anymore as they want to clean up bearring in mind there was loads of people eating still and filling their plates up. So we tried to take our plates out to our rooms then we got shouted at that we should respect the time and kept telling us to hurry up while we were eating. Very Very rude!!! We had booked as all inclusive but we had to spend alot of money on alchohol as they only serve in little plastic cups the tight gits!!! Didn't drink the coctails as they tasted like sh**. The food. Where do I start. The pasta was discusting, eggs wasnt cooked enough, milk was probably outdated as it tasted like that. The only thing the six of us have eaten all week was kebabs, pizza, burgers at the pool bar. We had had to go out nights to restaurants as we were so hungry but couldn't eat the food we paid for already!! We went to El Kantoui to keep getting bothered by drug dealers and when yiu say no they give you middle finger.Went to Bora Bora as well had fun apart from the coctails being discusting and overpriced. One of the friends was so drunk he was sick in the bar near our table to then be escorted outside with a wooden stick and asked for 100 dinars thankfully we argued our way out of it and littrelly jumped in the taxi to get away from the mad people that worked there.
All in all I would not come back to Karthago El Ksar nor Tunisia as I have experienced great views as we went to sahara and quite alot of other places but the rudeness of the people will not be forgotten and we do not want to experience that again.

Room Tip: Ask for Higher floor rooms, atleast it wont be so far from fools or sea.

This was a brilliant holiday, after reading very poor reviews before we went. The hotel is a little dated in places but overall clean and tidy, friendly staff and we felt very helpfully staff. If you need to know anything about getting around or the local area just ask the staff, especially Leila who works in the upstairs bar area. If you want to visit Sousse or Port Kantouie use the little noody train that goes from the main gate. It will stop, you get on and pay when you get off, easy as. The taxi's are an experience not to be missed very cheap, 5 dinar to Sousse but hold on tight!!! The pool vendors are a little rude but just say NO if you dont want to do the excursions. The pool area and beach are very clean and who said they paid for the loungers well we were there for 2 weeks and didn't pay at all. The restaurant food can be a bit samie but we didn't starve always found something to eat, fresh bread and pizza cooked all day every day. We found 2 wonderful waiters who looked after us Medhi and Samm (who didn't need tipping to give us a good service) they got to know what we drank and where we sat at lunch time and at evening meal times and our drinks would be ready for us on the table. We tipped them on our last night but only because we felt the service they gave us deserved it (and they made us laugh with there english banter 'all rite mate'). The entertainment team well where do you start, they are on the go no stop, they make friends with all the kids, they play pool games volley ball, water polo, silly pool games, darts it goes on and on. They get you up dancing, if you don't want to join in you don't have to. All in all, we enjoyed a wonderful, very hot, very sunny holiday, in a poor foreign country that is trying very hard to give us (some people of which only survive on moaning) a holiday/travel experience. We didn't pay for perfection didn't get perfection but had a fantastic time in a wonderful country

Room Tip: Pool facing rooms are better and away from noise of the local disco Bora bora which can be quite lou...

Big warning, do not do the pirate boat trip provided by the hotel vendors, we wasted 4 hours of our lives doing this trip, sounds exciting but incredibly boring, even for our two 9 year olds! Vendors very aggressive when told how rubbish it was and said if he ever saw me outside hotel I would not be happy!! Camel trip apparently very good, stated by several holiday makers.
Hotel was Ok, would go back if it wasn't due to the above vendor.
Food could have been more Tunisian, quite bland at times, think they my cater for eastern European holiday makers tastes more.
Fantastic maid service, very clean in all areas.
Bar staff are nice, even better if you give them a tip, got real glasses at pool side bar due to the odd tip or two, instead of silly plastic cups which probably held 150ml!!
We enjoyed our holiday, first week a bit strained due to other holiday makers not being happy with their experiences and a bit of destressing from my normal working life!!
Beautiful views from our rooms of the sea, rooms basic and need updating, not really 4 star more like 2 + star.
A little warning some rooms are close to the biggest outside night club in Nothern Africa, Bora Bora, incredibly loud and goes on to 5am in the morning on 2 nights of the week!!
The entertainment team in the day time were fantastic, in particular Momo and Gogo, night time entertainment not my cup of tea.
Too many men in budgie smugglers around the pool, some bordering on the obscene, and I'm not a prude!
Usual getting up early to put towels down at main pool, but there is a quiiet pool at back of bungalows, which we found out about on last day, typical!!

Another warning, wear incontinence pants if you go anywhere in a taxi, amazingly scarey, no seat belts or brakes!
What made our holiday were the most fantastic people you could ever wish to meet, and hopefully meet again.

Donna, Tony, Heather, Maisie and Hope xx

This was our first family holiday abroad for 5 years and our second visit to Tunisia. The hotel is really well set up for older families. The 4 star rating is valid as the quality of the hotel as a whole is high but the rooms could do with some updating. We had 2 baloney pool/sea view rooms and they were clean and looked after, if a bit basic but to be honest we only really slept there - there was too much going on to spend time in your room! The waiting staff were always cheerful and chatty and gave really good service - nothing was too much effort and they really appreciated their tips. The maid was lovely and the animation team were amazing - working really hard all day to make sure everyone was having a good time. The pool area is very well kept and clean - all the walking surfaces around the pool are anti slip. The selection of food in the buffet restaurant was good but quality was a bit hit and miss at times, but provided you go with an open mind and are willing to try food you haven't had before and you are not expecting 'English food ' you will always be able to find something tasty to eat. The beach restaurant is good but I would avoid the a la carte as service was poor and food quality was below average. The hawkers on the beach are persistent but when you take the time to talk to them they are nice people just trying to earn a living. They warm to you when you barter with them and you can squeeze a bargain or two out of them. The activities on the beach - paragliding and banana boats etc are reasonably priced and great fun. We will be going back for definite! It was a really good 7 days. If you are wary of the bad reviews just bare in mind nowhere is perfect all of the time.

Room Tip: Corner suites do have the best views. Ground and 1st floor views can be obscured by palm trees.

(We arrived back in the UK wednes. 29.8.12.).

As we arrived at our hotel we were pleased to go into such a beautiful place with gorgeous surroundings totally thoughout. Tunisia itself was lovely to be in but let its country down due to how unfriendly they are inside this hotel & also outside too ! 95% of the hotel staff, particually the restaurant staff we so rude, it was unbeliveable !! We have visited 14 different countries to date & have never been anywhere as rude, this was a real eye opener. After five days i was getting rather fedup of it each day to say the least. Because of this it was spoiling our holiday. But made the decision to try to make the most of the situation on our holiday. Unfortunately the food wasn't very good either, i would of rated it 4/10. I appreciate trying different nationality foods especially abroad, but for a 4* all inclusive hotel on the beach i wouldnt even rate this hotel even a 3* on the whole. Staff would wait around for tips, to which i found intimidating especially when they treated us like they did ! The problems continued daily, from pushing you rather than going around you, expecting you to get up while seated eating a meal, dirty looks, snatching tableware off you, being ignored when being spoke too & asking questions, you didn't even get a hello, please, thank you, a smile or even any eye contact. It wasn't us being British, other nationalities also complained about the above. I wouldn't return or recommend Tunisia as country to visit as a holiday destination. End of !!! We as tourists are putting money into this country & for what ? ! being paid back in rudeness !!

We travelled as a family of age range from 5 to 62. Hotel was very clean and then most amazing beach ever! Pool areas were clean and every day there was a good range of food. Staff very helpful and great with kids. Would definitely return to this hotel again and please if you are listening to bad reviews, just have an open mind and enjoy your holiday!! We took out children camel riding, horse riding, quad biking, para sailing, boat trips etc and everything was run smoothly and efficiently and great value for money ... Well done El Ksar :)
