“Artistic Design & Great Ambience”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

The hotel was designed in the typical Myanma culture and tastefully decorated. The rooms were clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and courteous. There is even a traditional musical band playing the Myanma instruments. It was amazing and delighting. When you walked into the reception, you passed through the pond on both sides. In them were beautiful, elegant koi fish or carp fish. You can feed them. These fishes really brightened up the atmosphere, giving you a fresh welcome.
The breakfast is mediocre, not very elaborate and nothing to be excited but the food is good enough for a full morning meal. It is one of the best hotels in Mandalay city.

Room Tip: Take a room facing the Mandalay Palace to get a good view.

Dear BackpackingAlone, thank you for choosing to stay with us. As Mandalay has such a rich history, we sought to retain the traditional Burmese character in our decor and we're glad it sat well with you. Our chefs have noted your feedback and are continuously improving their offerings. Do remember us when you next visit Mandalay.

Swimming pool was excellent. All public areas clean and well presented. Some staff were helpful but others seemed reluctant to be bothered. Check in and out was tediously convoluted. Room was large and with a good view down the palace moat, but blind over large bathroom window was permanently fixed down so little light and no view. Plug socket almost hanging off wall. Lighting was awful; only two bedside lights and a table lamp so had to read by iPhone torch! Security poor: came back to find balcony door we had locked before leaving in the morning was open (other rooms adjoined the balcony) and there was open access from back of pool to open street. Restaurant menu limited.

Room Tip: All the 4th floor was being upgraded - wait till it's finished and ask for one of those. Rooms a...

This is a very lovely hotel, 4-5 stars, and, as I understand it, the best the city has to offer. Mandalay is a bit rustic, but we enjoyed an opportunity to see some beautiful things/places. The service was excellent. We love Myanmar!

Nice rooms and bathroom. Beautiful view towards the moat and the mountain. Comfortable beds.

We opened the window for 5 minutes and suddenly the room had dozens and dozens of mosquitoes, we were going mad.
At breakfast you get charged $4 (!!!) usd per glass if you want fresh orange juice...

Our room looked out on the old palace but also faced the street which had a lot of busy traffic. This is like a basic sheraton type hotel. We did have dinner in the lobby restaurant one night and had a nice dinner.
the pool was large and inviting after a busy day out exploring.
Great breakfast offered. Try the noodles with toppings.

We weren't sure where to stay in Mandalay, as it was our first trip to Myanmar, but after reading the Trip Advisor reviews, the bulk of which were fairly positive, we selected the Sedona Hotel.

When our guide who picked us up at the airport told us the Sedona Hotel is one of the best hotels in Mandalay, we knew we made the right decision.

The place is beautiful, the staff wonderful, with a great location, and a nice swimming pool,

If there is one negative- it's the WIFI- it only works in the lobby area; but this seems to be an issue throughout Mandalay.

Room Tip: We stayed on the fifth floor- with a great view of the old palace walls and moat, it's much nice...

I was in Mandalay for a literary conference and this was a great hotel, although probably due for some renovations. Overlooked the historic fort ramparts so was a wonderful sight to wake up to. Was also located near the Mandalay Hill and close to the book stupa, so it was easy getting around. I took a car to visit the night book market and that was also nearby...if you have the stomach for street food, the night market had some of the best in Myanmar.
