This hotel is nice and has spacious rooms and a nice swimming pool. If you like to be away from the busy streets of Mandalay this is a good choice, but if you like to go out at night for a dinner or a drink you need to be aware that you need a taxi or take a bike as it is too far too walk. We asked for a taxi to take us to a restaurant which makes going out for dinner somewhat more expensive if you are on a budget. But other than that it is a nice hotel.

When our guide took us to our hotel when we arrived in Mandalay, he raved about this place as being the best in town etc. It turned out to be our worst hotel stay during our lovely trip in Burma. Why is it so bad? 1/ the location is just out of town, so you are trapped once there. Ordering for a taxi is possible, but that takes no less than 15mn + it is expensive. 2/ The rooms are too Chinese in style 3/ The breakfast is served either as a buffet - if you arrive there when there is a group of tourists - or a la carte; in both instances, the quality is absent! 4/ although you are in your room, you are bound to hear what's happening in the corridor... especially when a group of tourists leave the place at 5am...
The only positive is the staff attentiveness and care for the clients, but that is unfortunately not sufficient.
Such a pity to experience this place when you know there are many more hotels in town that would be more Birman than this one.

Room Tip: we tried two rooms, one facing the front of the hotel, with new construction taking place during the...

This hotel is lovely, well thought out and well designed. However, it is in a really boring area, out of town, with no buses or taxis (except on the back of a motor scooter).

Management and staff tried very hard to please, with welcoming smiles and all of the service we could hope for.

Our room, 601, was large, clean, had good linens and was nicely decorated with appealing Burmese prints on wood walls. Two rooms, each w its own bathroom, open onto a shared lounge where self-catering coffee and tea is located. Right outside each bungalow (of 2 guest rooms) also had its own patio. AC worked great. Rooms had robes. Bathroom had tub and shower and plenty of amenities.

Happy hour, with "free drink and snack" was one of three mixed drinks and snacks were peanuts. Setting for drinking and dining was lovely, and there were mosquito coils beneath our chairs. They could have also used fans (I could have anyway!)

There is a large pool, very clean, a gym (infrequently used) and a small but tasteful gift shop, and beautiful landscaping everywhere.

One night we walked to a nearby restaurant (the only nearby business of any sort that we saw). I think it was Taste of Mandalay. Service, setting and food all made the mark, and it had fans and was less expensive than the hotel.

If I return to Mandalay I would look for a place in town. Otherwise, I'd certainly return.

This is a very nice resort property. It is beautiful and nicely appointed.

It is outside of Mandalay so away from all the noise and congestion, but you need a taxi to go anywhere. It has a nice view of the hills. It is very quiet which I loved. A building is under construction nearby, but it is far enough away that the construction noise isn't a problem.

The staff is excellent and very attentive and there are a lot of them. When you need help, there are usually 4 people to help you.

The breakfast is the best we had in Myanmar. Lots of selection. Good and good quality. They have an egg station where they make eggs to order.

We had dinner every night in the hotel. The first 2 nights we were alone. The third night, there was a French tour group. The food is good and large portions. They have a puppet and dancing show every night from 7:15 to 8:15. It is cute and intimate and enjoyable.

The rooms are big and well appointed. The wifi is a little on the slow side, but sufficient. We were there during the Sochi Olympics and it was the only hotel that we had that had Olympic coverage.

The only negative is the shower. This property is a little more than a year old and they made the decision to have the shower head stick out of the wall in the middle of the bathroom across from the toilet such that everything in the bathroom gets wet when you take a shower. It's a large bathroom and also has a tub with a shower nozzle, so we used the tub instead to keep the water contained. It works, but it's awkward and not nearly as enjoyable as a shower. Because the shower head sticks out of the middle of the bathroom wall, the threshold of the bathroom is raised 4 inches which is a tripping hazard especially in the dark. This hotel would have been nearly perfect if the shower had been enclosed. They have plenty of room for an enclosed shower and should make this renovation.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view if possible.

Transfered here as we could not get reservation at the Red Canal Hotel. Very happy with this hotel clean, well run, and the food good quality.
Great swimming pool.
Hotel lacked atmosphere as did not seem very full - careering more for business visitors.
It is also quite a way from the city centre, so eating in is the only option.
As we had a guide for our time in Mandalay the location was not a problem but it could be without transport..
Would certainly consider staying here again.

It seemed like we were the only ones in the hotel. The hotel is massive. It was before Christmas and the hotel had awful Christmas music that they started playing around 6:a.m. We could hear the music in our room. It woke us up.
Because we were the only ones in this massive hotel, all the staff hovered over us the entire time.
WE could not leave our room without someone asking to help us.
It is out of town and you need to take transportation into the city.
It is clean but strangely decorated.
The food was so so in the hotel. We arrived late in the evening and had a very mediocre meal.
Breakfast buffet was fine.
Yes the bathrooms are designed so that the shower splashes every where. There is no curtain or
shower stall.
The staff is very attentive(too much).

Room Tip: Ask for a view.

This hotel in Mandalay maintains a good standard of cleanness and service, staff are always smily and helpful. We received an upgrade to a suite. That said the decoration of the rooms is perplexing to say the least (for a westerner). The breakfast is decent but would benefit of better coffe, the noodles, soups, eggs and rest of the bouffet were good. The rooms have safe, a good shower, 2 TV, and plenty of space. Is not a superclass but definitely a clean, safe, comfortable place. Not for long stays unless you don't mind being a bit far from downtown and the excesses of chinese deco.
