Staff were all very helpful and approachable. The standard room I booked was fully equipped, and looked nice with lots of wood used. It was, however, way too small. With twin beds squished in there, there was no space at all for any luggage. Sadly there is nowhere in the hotel really to lounge, so you’re trapped in the tiny room. Breakfast was pretty good. There is a nice little terrace on the top floor, but it’s mainly used for hanging out the staff washing, rather than using it for somewhere guests can chill with a nice view. Just around the corner are two nice restaurants (Indian veg and Thai), and an awesome Myanmarese massage place.

Located just around the corner from the wonderful Rainforest Restaurant, this hotel was well located. Rooms were clean and not too cramped, but it was the staff that made this so welcoming a place to stay, Evertime we returned to the hotel they seemed genuinely pleased to see us, and were most helpful in organised several things for us.
The breakfast was pretty standard for Myanmar, with tea bags/coffee powder & powdered milk and a bit of a bottleneck at the toaster. But food was freshly served and replenished regularly

Nice new hotel (opening was March 2013) in a central location close to Mandalay Palace. As others have mentioned, it is the staff that really makes this place. They were eager to help in any possible way and always gave us a warm welcome when we returned in the evening (we stayed here 5 nights). They even helped my to find a good and cheap tailor to make a longyi. The hotel itself is nothing particularly sensational but it is new, which makes a big difference in Myanmar. Our room was spacy (deluxe room), very clean, with a nice hot shower and a comfortable big bed and even a balcony. The wifi is pretty slow- but at least it works. The breakfast is not worth to mention ( as always in Myanmar), but ok. I don't understand the comments about the wood smells - we barely noticed it but I actually like the new wood smell much more than other smells I 've encountered on the trip anyway! But people are different. I definitely recommend this hotel, I really enjoyed my stay here..

Excellent value for money, location closeish to the sights given that Mandalay sights are very spread out (till need a 15000MMK/$15 taxi), immaculate rooms and attentive staff. Excellent air con and wifi. Although the bathroom is still of a "wet room" design, it was cleverly designed so that the toilet roll, for example, didn't get wet and the shower water drained well. Hot water, strong toilet flush, good shower flow (all things not found in other Burmese hotels)! Breakfast was limited but decent. Staff were extremely helpful in providing information about exploring Mandalay and the surrounding ancient cities (although note we were given a quote by them of $60 for full day sightseeing Mingun, Sagaing, Inwa and Amarapura for sunset, yet the taxi guy waiting right outside the hotel quoted us $45 straight up and was extremely helpful and an excellent driver...he is always waiting outside Hotel Emperor for custom so go with him!). When my partner was ill with food poisoning for 48 hours (due to a dodgy hotel breakfast in Bagan the day before), the staff were wonderful at bringing breakfast into the room, giving extra towels, toilet paper etc. Minor point for us- there was nothing but a wall visible from the window. Also the room stank of sewage everytime the toilet was flushed. Overall however, the clean and modern rooms with good wifi and aircon, along with the genuinely kind attentive staff, make this one of the top two hotels we stayed in during our whole Myanmar trip.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 104 which is right next to reception so is a little noisy

The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful
The rooms are very small and pokey but the air con is good and there's excellent hot water. He wifi is hit and miss- we were on level 3 and had to stand by our door to get a signal- but otherwise it was fine.
Breakfast is basic but good- nice fried rice, eggs and fruit. Would be great to have real coffee over Nescafé but now I'm being fussy ;)
Would recommend as a solid place to stay

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Emperor. We had a standard room at first but the hot water was not working. The staff were really helpful and offered us an upgrade to a deluxe room. Then we had a problem with our TV but they came up and fixed it right away. The helped us book our cabs to see the Moustache Brothers and were overall very friendly and went out of their way to serve us. Breakfast was good for Myanmar hotels too.

Room Tip: The deluxe rooms have washrooms with tubs if you don't like wet floors

I'm not joking, this place is great. This is a new hotel with wifi that is very clean and modern. The staff can't help enough and are friendly and above all happy. They clarified my flight times when the airlines sent conflicting departures. Also organised 'Balloons over Bagan' when I had tried to book in Australia, Thailand and Myanmar with no success. Such a genuinely happy place with excellent people. If you're coming to Mandalay stay here.
