This place was a lovely place to stay, very friendly staff, nice rooms, and a convenient location.

Just a few minutes by taxi from the airasia free shuttle bus to the airport, it made it very easy to get to the airport. The staff here were fantastic, very helpful.
Also sometimes it's the little things you love, the shower here was the best shower of any hotel i stayed at whilst in Myanmar.

Only thing that wasn't great was the breakfast. It wasn't terrible, but there wasn't much choice of food.

Room Tip: No elevators mean you have to take the stairs. A room on the 2nd floor would be preferable, unless you want to walk up the stairs all the time.

This small hotel was lovely. Nice entry, small garden, wood panelled walls, parquet floors. Good location near the Mandalay Palace and with several small restaurants in the quiet neighbourhood.
We stayed in a deluxe room for $58 night. It was a relief to have good air-conditioning. Enjoyed a deep bath. Wifi was strong - when it was working - best in the morning. This is a Myanmar problem, though and not anything the hotel can address.
The staff here were stars: warm hospitality, welcoming smiles every time we walked in and extremely pro-active and helpful. The young receptionist, Ms. Zara Chi Lin, answered all our questions, organised our onward bus tickets, suggested a city itinerary, and negotiated fair prices with taxi drivers.
Same day laundry service was very inexpensive.
Breakfast food was okay, delivered with great service.
To top off our experience, we requested late checkout and were allowed to stay until 7pm - without charge! Granted, we were here in May and the hotel only had 1/4 occupancy but I still thought it a generous gesture.

Room Tip: We were offered a "room with a view" of the palace grounds. It was not worth climbing 3 flights of stairs.

Location is very good, right next to the royal palace. Also the staff is very friendly, helps to book bus and train tickets and gives good hints for sights and tours through Mandalay.

Rooms were ok and clean, however slightly overpriced. Breakfast is only aligned with chinese preferences.

For those not in the know, pigeons are good alarm clocks. They start cooing, romancing and fighting normally around 5 am. So if you have early morning flight, this is a highly recommended hotel for you.

This was our third hotel in Mandalay. We actually liked this hotel. The staff are genuinely friendly and discreet when they communicate with each other. The front office manager is very helpful. He explained that the pigeons decided to make Hotel Emperor as their new home because their old home next door was demolished. If you stay on the top floor of the hotel like we did, then be prepared or bring some ear plugs with you.

The building construction next door start working from 8 am to 5 pm. If you're just staying in Mandalay for a few days and visiting tourist sites during the day, the noise shouldn't be a problem.

Breakfast? There's no such thing. Free with the room, yes. If you like Asian breakfast, that's fine because they have those. We just want simple breakfast like fresh fruit, muesli cereals and brown bread. But oh no, white bread again. And why do some hotels insist on using tiny cups for tea? Please, provide us with good size mugs. If this breakfast is not sufficient, go to Bistro which has a better range and quality of food.

Location is great for Mandalay popular restaurants. Most of them are only a short walk from this hotel. Rooms on the north side have the view of the moat. The basic room is small. If you can afford an upgrade to superior, it's worth doing.

Room Tip: Don't choose top floor rooms because of the noise from the pigeons.

Fairly basic hotel but we had a large twin room at the front (Room 201) and a third bed (which was the most comfortable for me). Bathroom was a sort of wet room but the show was powerful and plenty of hot water. Wifi a bit flaky (usual outside Yangon) but it worked and was free. We didn't use the restaurant which looked basic but the staff very very helpful and friendly. In fact, it was a bit overwhelming every morning to be greeted by a reception line of staff but it was pretty genuine. Good location for the a Royal Palace. Overall for the price - no complaints.
