Lovely rooftop dining area. Hotel staff are always so proactive, helpful and friendly. There is a nice little souvenir shop on the ground floor. Wifi is weak in the rooms and usually better at the lobby. Bring mosquito repellent as you can't escape them there, or at the rooftop restaurant.

A really nice budget hotel with free cocktails and puppet show on the roof terrace at night. Staff was helpful and great buffet breakfast. Only downside is that they overcharge for tours and that it is a bit away from the center and can be quite noisy at night. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

I found this hotel to be overpriced for what you received. The hotel is located a few blocks either way from the main access on what should be and a nice quiet respite from the hustle and bustle of a major city. Instead it is flanked on one side by a restuarant favored by most of the motorbike owners in Mandalay. The remainder of the motorbikers go to the one across the street. I have nothing against people who ride motorbikes, but their noise and associated horns do make it a little difficult to get to sleep especially if you have one of the rooms on the five floors ending in 01 and 02 as these overlook the street.

The rooms are pretty basic. thought certainly dated and a little frayed around the edges. You jhave your basic bed and desk/vanity set up in the main room along with an in room safe with a digital combanation that you choose for yourself. Both the room and the bathroom were spotless. I even looked for mold in the bathroom corners (since so many people complain about mold in a humid, third world country I don't understand) But I looked and there was none.

THe bathroon Sink, toilet and bath/shower affair. Soap and shampoo provided. The tub/shower is one of those tubs where you need to step up to get into it to shower, which means a big step down with wet feet to land on slippery tile if you are like me and forget to put down a towel or mat so you don't look like an accrobat when exiting the shower. On the plus side there is a very efficient hair dryer in the bathroon. I don't recall anything one way or the other about the hot water so it must have been alright.

The breakfast (included at an extra price) was fine. Egg/Omelte station. Breads, cereals, fruit and cheese for your Wersten palate. I don't remember how that Asian side of the menu was, as I had no interest in that for breakfast.

In the evening on the rooftop terrace a man and a woman played tradition instruments and then a puppet show was given. I recall one of the guidebooks saying there was a music/puppet show in town for $15 or $20 dollars. So for the price of a beer you can get your culture and some peanuts as well. The food was good and varried, a little high priced for Myanmar but as far as a tourist hotel certainly within range and perhaps a little less.

I will give it a three out of five. Downgrade on location and noise. Upgrade on cleanliness and entertsinment. As far as the price - I have nothing to compare it to in Mandalay.

Room Tip: I found the 01 and 02 rooms (Eg: 101 and 102) to be right on the street which is noisy.

We were recommended this hotel by a travel agent-amigo in Yangon, as we needed a central hotel basically just for a 1-night transfer between Bagan and our flight out of Mandalay the next morning. TA also gave many good reviews, and the hotel did not diappoint! :)
*Than Than the manager is super-efficient and gives you quick and useful answers to all your questions, something not so common in otherwise-always-friendly-Burma :)
*we requested a top-floor room and got one, 501 with nice view of Mandalay Hill and close to breakfast--room was immaculate and comfortable enough. No wifi in reality but this is the reality of Myanmar at the moment.
*breakfast is complete and on the roof, you can watch Mandalay wake up!
*their free taxi to AirAsia's free airport shuttle (only 10min away) was great
*they are central so you can walk to the Fort., and the surrounding neighborhood is Eating Central at night (probably the best thing about Mandalay itself!)
Best of all, it is great-value: we paid double for a room in Bagan not as nice,
Highly recommended.

Room Tip: top floors are better

We are in Mandalay on business and therefore we stay a bit longer than the other guests. This was our second hotel. They gave us a room fronting the main street on the fourth floor. Instantly we noticed the noise from the street. So they got us another room on the same floor facing the side street. We thought it was fine. Mistake! About half past one in the morning, we heard dogs barking, at 5 am the mosque called their prayers, followed by the vegetable market at 6. If you decide to stay here and want to have a good night sleep, choose a room on the other side of the hotel. Avoid the front and side rooms facing the market and the food stalls.

It would be wonderful if the hotel could spend some money and double glaze their windows.

Wifi? Temperamental! It's free in the room but we had to glue ourselves to the door and moved our laptops, iPads and iPhones up and down and sideways trying to get that elusive signal. In the end, we went downstairs to the lobby but the signal wasn't brilliant either.

But hey! This is Burma, embrace it, you say. So let's talk about the positives. Lovely staff and the manager was always available. The superior room was a good size and the bathroom looked modern with a bathtub and shower curtain and the lighting was good. The sky bar and breakfast area is great and you don't have to look down to the hustle and bustle on the streets.

Would we stay here again? No because the location is a bit of a walk to our favourite restaurants like Bistro, the Rainforest, Marimin, and JJ. And don't let me start rabbiting about their roads.

Room Tip: Avoid the front and side rooms facing the food stalls and vegetable market. Front superior rooms are...
