“A hotel with potential for a good stay”
Reviewed 31 March 2012

The Park Plaza Lahore is a modern hotel, well located in Gulberg at M.M. Alam Road, a busy street with plenty of restaurants.
The rooms are modern with comfortable beds. The first impression of a neat room fades quickly, because of lack of cleanliness. I had to ask to redo my bed, as I found some black long hair on the bed sheet. The pillows were rumpled. The chair on the desk was damaged and torn. There were spots of coffee on the floor. The light in the wardrobe was permanently on, as the doors were not properly fixed and when closed did not touch the switch. I found the same in the bathroom. A new soap was placed on the grill near the sink, but when I removed it, there were rests of the previous soap. The garbage can was filthy, the toilet seat poorly fixed, and the glass cabin of the shower full of stains.
On the positive side, the internet was free and quick. A fruit basket was delivered to the room and there is a kettle for tea and coffee in the room.
The evening buffet had a part from vegetarian food, seven dishes of chicken, but no beef, lamb or fish. So I went to the excellent Chinese Restaurant just opposite the hotel. On the breakfast buffet there are no fruit juices, but Nestea. I had to return my cup of coffee because of lipstick marks. Eggs are prepared fresh and there are plenty of local breakfast items available.

This is apparently not a proper Carlson Hotel, but a franchise and I was informed that the stay does not qualify for Club Carlson points.

The hotel has potential, is well located and could offer a good stay if properly managed. Plenty of staff is standing around and no one really cares. The lack of cleanliness is unfortunate and unacceptable. I have filled in a complaint card, but was not contacted; even so I left a local telephone number.

I like this hotel. I stayed here three times so far in past two years. Staff is friendly. Rooms are reasonably clean. Breakfast is average. I had better in PC or Avari.
The Lunch and dinner is reasonable too. The best thing about this hotel is location. It is very close to MM Alam road which is fantastic if you want to eat out or go shopping. Liberty Market is close by too. Hotel has a rent-a-car which is good. Free airport pick and drop too. Firdos Market is quite close. Security is reasonable if not brilliant. This hotel is right on the road so bit of compromise in terms of security. Lobby is average. They did have some live music going on one of the nights I was there.

negatives: Staff take for ever to act on a request. When we requested our laundary to be pressed, it took then 3 hours to bring it back despite a promise to be back in 10 min!. Extra bed was requested at 9.00pm which turned up at midnight despite 4 reminders.
So you need to be assertive to remind them if your request I guess. On one occasion they did not have my reservation which I made 4 weeks earlier and quoted me higher price than that quoted at the time of reservation but after bit of argument they gave me same price around RS8000 for double room /night.

Room Tip: All rooms are OK but insist on seeing the room before you take it to make sure you are happy with it...

The people who say this is not a good hotel are definitely fussy , I've stayed twice in this hotel, love the rooms, being so central and no noise from the road, excellent staff. Infact I find it much better then Pearl Continental,in terms of value for money. The breakfast was much better when served in the upstairs restaurant, but the one downstairs is too in the way. I find the staff especially the waiters at breakfast very courteous.keep up the cleanliness and maybe a welcome drink to guests especially foreigners will make them feel comfortable.the in house guests should be given a discount on food also.

Room Tip: Just walked in and got it.
