“Excellent Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 March 2014

Services are really good. Food, Ambiance, Hospitality and staff courtesy is remarkable.
One can observe visible difference in Front office' staff efficiency. Check in time is reduced. Reservations profile were properly maintained.
"The Pakistani" restaurant is best. Breakfast at Al-Bustan is always Luxury.
Rooms are spacious and well equipped according to the needs of Guests. My Business tour is always pleasant and comfortable.

Room Tip: 3rd Floor Pool side rooms are quite.

I believe the disappointment of guests which is reflected on almost all the reviews is due to the following two factors;

1)Sheraton who sold this hotel to Movenpick had stopped maintaining the facility during 2013.

2) Movenpick took over and continued operating the poorly maintained facility with old furniture. They should have closed the facility for few months to fully refurbish to bring it to a Movenpick brand standard and then launch under Movenpick banner. There was need to hire professional receptionists who would have at least made speedy check-in and check-outs.

I am sure Movenpick will bring it to their worldwide standard with some time but it would have been much better to launch it after fully repairing and refurbishing the poorly maintained Sheraton in its last months. The late check-in and check-outs can be easily fixed by hiring new efficient staff. Some loyalty packages can be introduced but first raise the standard to attract the customers. An old building with old furniture, delayed check-in/outs and ordinary breakfast will force customers like me to chose better hotels in market than go for a big name but not the same Movenpick we are used to in other parts of the world.

Stayed for two nights on a short business trip. The hotel had just changed over from a previous management but other than the long time for check in and check out, my stay was comfortable. Breakfast can improve, not much choice at the table. Wifi is free only at the lobby, rooms were chargeable.

I stayed in Sheraton twice in 2013 and it changed to movenpick in my 1st visit in 2014. I feel the services as well as the room cleanness are the same as used to be. The performance of the reception staffs are still very bad. It took 20 mins to complete check in even no ppl are waiting.

Breakfast are the another area that need to improve. They should really think of adding more kind of food to serve.

The hotel is near the center of downtown and is well guarded and secure - the reception at booking in is a little slow but friendly, the rooms just need a lick of paint and a maintenance schedule but they are clean and comfortable.

WiFi is complementary as is tea/coffee in the rooms with bottled water. It is not recommended to drink tap water.

The trip to and from the airport is around 40 mins but can be quicker if little traffic.

This hotel is geared for locals, not for international travelers. It is self rated 5 star hotel but 2 star at most in fact, 90% of the motels in the US are better than this hotel. The lobby had a local band, the minute you walked into the hotel lobby (evening), you will be blasted with their music; the receptionists were poorly trained and the locals just kept on cutting in. it took over 40 minutes for the receptionist to check me in because she constantly stood up, walked away and responded to those people who asked for services when I was sitting there. The room was spacious but everything was old that there was a strong damp smell in your room, carpet was breaking up, the chairs were hard and the toilet could not be flushed unless you jerked it 4-5 times. I went to this hotel because I thought this was a Swiss chain and it was rated as a 5 star chain but I need to compare this hotel to anything, it would be properly like a 20 years old motel in the US. If you are from any part of this world other than Pakistan, do not go to this hotel.

I Go to Karachi every year and used to love the service at the Sheraton. However I did notice that the standards were dropping over the years. I have just returned from there and felt I had to wrtite this article. Nothing to do with the change to Movenpick I feel it is the staff themselves to blame. We arrived on 02/01/14 booked for 3 club rooms and even agreed to pay for the night before although we received our room at 9 am on 2nd. First of all the receception tried to give us statndard rooms on thired floor when I had booked and paid for club rooms Rs 6000 more for each room. When got to the rooms the beds had already been slept in.
This was followed by a list of complaints which management apologised for but in essence did nothing.
Corridors are never hovered.
No swimming pool and no mention on website that it was closed.
No hairdresser
Charged for laundry and telephone calls although these should be free.

They will try it on so if you do stay here check all your bills and what you are entitled to.
I Complained to their Sales Manager Kumail Haider. Whilst sympathising with me and agreeing to a partial refund he the ran away !!!

Please be very careful They are crooks

Room Tip: Do not pay for a club rooms its a con
