“Much better than the local hotels”

If I will put this hotel outside of Pakistan, I will rate it a three star but because in the area, it is already a luxury to be in this hotel. I am just surprised that when it came to basic standard, Movenpick could be different depending on location.

Good points - good security. This hotel is gated and people and bags and luggage are checked before entry. Very good service. The waiters, security, personnel are all very courteous and helpful. Rooms are spacious. Not much of western food in the breakfast buffet.

Bad points - I don't think the corridors are properly cleaned and vacuumed. Not much amenities in the room. No hot water in the shower at night but there is on day time. Bad sound proofing in the room.

Over-all, I will still highly recommend this hotel when in this area.

I stayed at the hotel for a couple of days. Check in was quick. The management was courteous enough to allow a couple of extra hours for check-out time. The room was amazing with a very nice view. The service was above average. Pick and drop to / from the airport was hassle free and quick. The food at "The Pakistani" was very good as well and the complementary desserts were a very nice gesture. Overall, a great experience.

I traveled to Karachi with my mother on 8th March and was only supposed to stay for 10 days, however we ended up extending for another 2 weeks. Upon arrival we were given a standard room, which was relatively basic and more 3 star than 4/5 star and also was a smoking room, so wasn't ideal. I called reception straight away, and the duty manager called me back and upgraded us to the Executive floor which was extremely good of him, and a far superior room. The hotel staff were very helpful and a pleasure to deal with, I booked my mum a massage which she enjoyed tremendously, I also used the gym which was well equipped. In short prior to arriving in Karachi we were sceptical as 2 ladies staying alone in the hotel, however there were absolutely no issues, security was excellent. The Exec room made our stay extremely comfortable, and I would definitely visit again. In terms of improvement, the breakfast could be varied slightly, but it is perfectly adequate, the standard rooms are definitely in need of an update (we were very happy with the Exec room). The hotel does host functions and weddings which are very loud and do disturb the peace in the room.
All in all we had a very pleasant trip, it was my mum's birthday and the hotel staff had a cake and fruit put in the room which was very thoughtful, she was very surprised.

Room Tip: Choose an Exec Floor room!

Rooms were so comfortable and service was excellent. food quality was superb and i enjoyed my travel. in simple words it was an excellent experience and from now onward i prefer Movenpick, while traveling.

Services are really good. Food, Ambiance, Hospitality and staff courtesy is remarkable.
One can observe visible difference in Front office' staff efficiency. Check in time is reduced. Reservations profile were properly maintained.
"The Pakistani" restaurant is best. Breakfast at Al-Bustan is always Luxury.
Rooms are spacious and well equipped according to the needs of Guests. My Business tour is always pleasant and comfortable.

Room Tip: 3rd Floor Pool side rooms are quite.

I believe the disappointment of guests which is reflected on almost all the reviews is due to the following two factors;

1)Sheraton who sold this hotel to Movenpick had stopped maintaining the facility during 2013.

2) Movenpick took over and continued operating the poorly maintained facility with old furniture. They should have closed the facility for few months to fully refurbish to bring it to a Movenpick brand standard and then launch under Movenpick banner. There was need to hire professional receptionists who would have at least made speedy check-in and check-outs.

I am sure Movenpick will bring it to their worldwide standard with some time but it would have been much better to launch it after fully repairing and refurbishing the poorly maintained Sheraton in its last months. The late check-in and check-outs can be easily fixed by hiring new efficient staff. Some loyalty packages can be introduced but first raise the standard to attract the customers. An old building with old furniture, delayed check-in/outs and ordinary breakfast will force customers like me to chose better hotels in market than go for a big name but not the same Movenpick we are used to in other parts of the world.

Stayed for two nights on a short business trip. The hotel had just changed over from a previous management but other than the long time for check in and check out, my stay was comfortable. Breakfast can improve, not much choice at the table. Wifi is free only at the lobby, rooms were chargeable.
