“Excellent guesthouse in every way”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2013

We stayed at Villa Ban Lakkham for 4 weeks in June/July. When we arrived at Luang Prabang Airport, the driver of the little red Ban Lakkham tuk tuk was there to greet us. We stayed in room 1 which has two balconies, one at the front and one at the side of the room. The balcony at the side of the room has stairs leading down to the ground level so we had our own private access to the room. Both balconies overlook the beautiful Khan River. Our room was spacious and very clean. The bathroom has a shower/bath. Villa Ban Lakkham runs like clockwork. Mr Ono was very welcoming and efficient and he and his wonderful staff could not do enough for us. The staff set up a table and chairs on the side balcony so that we could have our breakfast there of a morning overlooking the river. The breakfast they served us was so delicious and they are big servings. Mr Ono and the staff often asked us if we wanted more food but you just couldn't possibly fit more in.

We also ate at The Indestructible Rock Restaurant which is part of Villa Ban Lakkham. It is situated directly across the road from Villa Ban Lakkham, on the river, a lovely setting. The food was exquisite. The chef came to see us after we had finished our entree and main meal to check if we were happy with the meal. The restaurant staff were also very attentive.

Villa Ban Lakkham is handy to everything, a one minute walk and you are on the Main Street and over the other side of the Main Street is the Mekong River, a short five minute walk from Villa Ban Lakkham.

Great location, comfortable, clean and lovely views of the river.

we absolutely loved staying at villa ban lakkham. The staff were glorious and helpful went out of their way especially for children! Breakfast included in the tarrif was so fresh and delicious-seasonal fruit followed by eggs or pancakes and bagettes and croissants. My children were also spoilt with hot chocolate every morning. Coffee lovely too. The rooms were comfortable and cool nice to sit outside and listen to the world go by. It is an easy and very safe town to walk but the villa includes a tuk tuk shuttle bus which the kids made good use of! There are bikes to explore the town with also. Easy walk to the night markets the best markets i have seen in asia for authentic goods from the hill tribes and supporting the laos community

I stayed at the Villa Ban Lakkham with my husband and son for two nights and it was a lovely place to stay. The staff were very helpful and the location is great for walking into Luang Prabang. We have stayed in many places in Luang Prabang and this was as good as any others in the same price range. As usual, the room was smallish, but most are in Luang Prabang. It was clean and well presented and comfortable with a lovely verandah overlooking the street and river. Breakfast was very nice with eggs etc cooked to order. My only complaint is that the mattress was a bit old and the padding on the top wasn't great and the springs were a bit uncomfortable. But I still slept well. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an attractive friendly comfortable hotel in a great location.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms with balcony were nicest.

Ideally located 5 min away by feet from the first temple of the city, this lovely hotel accommodates its client in a colonial house with all comfort. View on the river Khan, good restaurant, excellent breakfast, excellent service (thanks to Mr Ono and Kung, and I am forgetting the names of the others).

Room Tip: I would say the first floor is better for each upper room has a private balcony.

My family and I just left Villa Ban Lakkham after four days/five nights and already miss it. This charming little hotel was a great gateway into a charming city and people. Mr. Ono and staff did a wonderful job of taking care of us, starting with a prompt greeting in a bright red tuk-tuk at the airport. The rooms were cool, clean and opened up to a beautiful view of the Nam Khan River. We ate our complimentary breakfast on the patio in front our rooms almost every morning. My boys loved the bacon and hot chocolate. My husband and I loved the hot, flaky croissants! One tip about wifi: if you have an iPhone you'll need the front desk to get you on to the network initially and then you'll be set for the rest of your stay.

Room Tip: If you stay on the main floor you can eat your breakfast out on the patio directly off your room.

On a three month tour of south east Asia I can say that this was the most memorable and best hotel I have stayed in. Historic and interesting building, first class service and a room overlooking the river, free transport around the town as well as to and from airport (Mr Ono actually emailed me to arrange pick up without being asked!), free use of bikes and a beautiful riverside restaurant for excellent breakfasts and meals. Not to mention a town which can't be missed

Easy reservation thru email.
Hotel are located across the river in a quiet area but a walking distance to mount phousi, night market, wat xieng thong, morning alms ceremony etc.
Rooms with balcony facing the river, large and comfortable bed with lots of pillow, flat screen with cable channel, fan and aircond, large bathroom but the water pressure a bit slow for upper level.
Hotel provide airport transfer, welcome drink, free round tour with tuk tuk (no stop), full set of toiletries, coffee and tea in the room and free usage of bicycle. American breakfast is served at the restaurant across the hotel, next to the river. Wifi signal is good. All staffs are friendly and speak English. Look for Mr Ono he can help you with anything.
