I recently spent 6 nights here after a couple of months of travelling and I was looking for a place to rest for a few days. Found the perfect spot. Yes, it is a few minutes walk to the centre of town, but there are tuk tuks always outside to take you there for very cheap prices.
For me it was a delightful place to stay. Old French villa, with a great garden, where some of the old royal family once lived, until things went horribly wrong for them in the 70s.
Nice pool too. But mostly enjoyed getting to know staff. Everyone was lovely. Could not have asked for more from any of them, and hearing little bits of their lives is the joy of travel.

I booked this hotel after looking over reviews here and stayed there 4 nights with my friend. We went to Luang Prabang to take photography of Pi Mai Lao(Lao New year's water festival) for my ongoing project. We'd never been to Laos before and expected good help for the exact festival schedule & location day by day, restaurants, best view points etc from the hotel. Well... the place is a real boutique hotel, Every details of the interiors and decoration were pretty impressive, never neglected, and well maintained. Breakfast was fabulous not by selections but by qualities. Every morning, I overrated. However, staff didn't follow the place's shiny maintenance. They didn't give us correct information and made mistakes over and over except one guy(unluckily I don't remember his name) . To mention some of them, A receptionist informed me wrong exchange rate one time and wrong return time for sunset cruise another time. When I asked some restaurants, They had no idea where they are although those restaurants were the best-rated ones among others in trip advisor. I doubt if they were properly trained for their job. I'm not quite sure whether going back to this hotel or not even though I miss Maly's breakfast.

Dear Sunsik P,

We first would like to thank you for having taking the time to share with us the feedback regarding your stay.

We were most disappointed to learn that the quality of service fell far short of our standards, and for that we apologize. We strive to make every guest’s stay at Le Villa Maly a satisfying and enjoyable experience.

We have focussed on training for the main operational departments, and hope the incidents you may have encountered during your stay will not happen again.

Kind Regards.

We had a splendid stay at Villa Maly. The place itself is beautiful and full of charm. It is located at walking distance from the center, places to visit, bars and restaurants. Far enough to avoid the noise but close enough to go out easily.
rooms are nicely decorated with an obvious feminine touch. Staff is helpful, friendly.
The swimming pool is just great.
this is really the place to stay at LP.

When you stay at nice boutique hotels, it turns you off to those large hotel chain hotels irrespective of how many stars they are. We stayed here 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, which had great personalized service, nicely kept and comfortable rooms, a really nice pool area, and yummy breakfast.

The hotel isn't right in town if you want to live right in the middle of everything, but it only a short 10 minute walk which was not a deal breaker for us, and the town is quite small and easy to get around in a tuk tuk or walking. The night bazaar is 10min walk away. Free airport pickup and drop off would have been nice if they offered it (they don't). Also, we found that many times, all the sun chairs would be full in the afternoons leaving people with no where to sit, so perhaps they could look at that.

We recommend staying here in this lovely town.

We also have taken notice of your observations concerning the airport transfer and please be kindly advised that most of the hotels in Luang Prabang charge.

Regarding the sunbeds quantity around the pool, we do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you, as they are located all around the pool, and more sunbeds would not fit properly. However, on very few opportunities, they are all occupied during the year.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this charming hotel. The rooms were stunning - comfortable and very well maintained, the surroundings were beautiful and quiet, the staff were very professional, friendly and accommodating. The swimming pool was definitely a highlight and it was open until late which was a nice treat after spending the day exploring Luang Prabang.
I would highly recommend Villa Maly to other travelers.

Great hotel in an excellent position.Management are helpful & the front desk has excellent English. We took our washing to the family across the road. Great fun seeing your underpants all hanging in the street! Laos New Year was noisy & kind of annoying being drenched continually, but hey, we were on holidays. Luang Prabang is rather special & worth a visit any time of the year.
