“Great hotel, awesome location”

Loved this hotel! The location is the best. Right next to Blue Lagoon restaurant and the night market, easily walkable to everything. Great wifi. Friendly staff. Clean rooms but very small. Breakfast is great- eggs, baguette, fruit, juice and coffee and made fresh to order. Be cautious with the laundry service- they lost something of mine once and gave us someone else clothing twice. That being said, the hotel is amazing, and I would definitely stay there again.

The Good: I dont suppose theres really a bad location in Luang, but this hotel is well situated smack dab between the two strips of restaurants, near the river, and on a corner so its always an easy find and a good landmark if you get turned around. The staff is friendly and accommodating, though some have very limited English. They were of great help even days after we'd left their hotel.

The Bad: very thin doors and basic accompdations give this an almost hostel-like feel. Privacy is limited as are the breakfast options.

The Bottom Line: It wasn't one of our favourite hotels during our trip through the region, but helpful staff made a big difference. I'd search elsewhere or limit your stay to one night and move on.

I booked Villa Lao Deum based on tripadvisor reviews and deciding it was good value in Luang Prabang for the price. Location is superb - a minute from the night market, river and minutes' stroll to the national museum. I was expecting the room to be dark and small as appears to be normal for the style of Laotian architecture, so no surprises there. Nice characterful touches with Laotian feel to the room and common areas and the greenery around the breakfast terrace was pleasant. Room and bathroom clean enough. Hotel staff helpful (the cleanest and freshest smelling laundry we've had back on our SE Asia trip so far...) and prepared sticky rice for us to join in giving alms to the monks who come straight past the guesthouse in the morning.

Room Tip: To maximise natural light, rooms on 1st floor may be better as you can open your shutters. We were...

I stayed a night at Villa Laodeum after a long 2 days taking the slow boat from Chiang Khong to Luang Prabang - the last thing I needed was a bad guesthouse.

The staff were incredibly helpful, and went out of their way to make me feel at home. The room is simple - TV, double bed, refrigerator. The bathroom is a decent size (compared to thailand), and has luke warm water, which I have found to be the case, throughout Southeast Asia. Everything is spotless, with nothing out of place. The rate includes breakfast the next morning with a variety of different choices.

The main feature of this place is the location - situated just off the main street: far enough not to hear the noise, but close enough to walk. The main street is littered with different restaurants and travel agents, and at night, the street is turned into a night market (a must see - some insane deals!). Just up the road from the guesthouse, one can find a currency exchange booth, motorcycle renting place, as well as a massage parlour.

I feel it is a bit overpriced, but I was willing to pay the extra money to be guaranteed a convenient, problem free, stay over.

My partner and I stayed here for 1 night initially but returned again for another night without any bookings after a failed trekking trip. Thankfully, they still have a vacant room for us.

We paid $40 per night and some may argued that the price is steep for a simple guest inn. However, I think the location certainly justified its cost. This property sits nicely in a quiet alley off the busy sisavangvong road so you are spared from the buzz. It is also 3 minutes walk to the river where you can stroll along the riverfront and have a glimpse of local way of life. Moreover, the monks pass by the property every morning at around 6.30pm which is a huge plus point.

Room wise, it is indeed small but the room are clean and well maintained. They even provided hair dryer (do not assume all hotels / guest inn in laos have one). It also comes with a empty fridge where you can stock out some beer lao if you prefer to chill in your room.

Owner and his team of staff (supposedly family members) are very polite. Check in and Check out is fast and welcome drink is also served. The setting is very cosy and even if we return after the door is locked, someone will answer the door shortly. I must also mention that the breakfast is not fantastic but adequate to kick start a day. Actually, it really feels like staying in someone's home as I watched the owner pass some pocket money to his son before sending him to school in the morning.

I took one star off the rating as I felt that the bathroom design needs improvement. First, water pressure from the shower is not consistent. Second, the heater unit is too high for petite people like me. I needed partner's help adjust the water temperature as I could not reach it at all. Thirdly, there is no hangers inside the bathroom which means you have to walk out naked after bathing to grab a towel.

Room Tip: Try to avoid room 7 as the aircon is rather oddly placed directly above the bedside. Room 8 is great...

I chose this guest house from the interent and reviews by other people and was very satisfied during my stay. The rooms are a bit small but actually I only used it to sleep as most of the time I was outside exploring and eating at some very good restaurants so the size was not a bother.

The staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was a very nice surprise with fresh fruit and great coffee. I would recommend this place to my friends and certainly stay here again when I return to Luang Prabang,

The room looks nice but for the rate the facilities and mainly the service is lacking. The staff is lazy and after 10pm ithey are sleeping at the reception and are bothered by customers going outside or just having a smoke outside in this non-smoking guesthouse. You even need a torch since they switch of the lights. Minibar is an empty fridge.
After telling the remote of the outdated chinese tv isn't working they just replaced the batteries and went straight to bed, ignoring the fact/comment that it's broken.
Not willing to pay 40 bucks for that kind of service.
This guesthouse is overpriced concerning the service and facilities. Looks nice on the first sight, that's all.Get something worth the money!
