“Clean, Nice People, Convenient!”
Reviewed 6 January 2014

I stayed in a Superior Room. The rooms are clean with a nice bathroom, the staff are very nice, they were very patient with my inquiries and the best part it is located on the main street of Luang Prabang!

My booking included a free airport pick up but the driver only works till 5pm. As my flight arrived at 7:10pm I was told to take a taxi and I'd be reimbursed on arrival - this happened after a phone call to the manager. My first room was in F block where the wifi doesn't work at all. Eventually I was moved to D block where wifi did work, but the room wasn't as nice. There's a buffet breakfast available with some Asian & Western style choices. The laundry service is a little more expensive than in town, but all my clothes were returned clean and in good condition. Although the location is good - very close to the night market - I don't think I'd stay here again as the price is a little high for what you actually get.

Room Tip: Avoid F block, although the rooms are nice wifi doesn't work here at all.

We had booked a double room but when we arrived they said there had been a mix up and we were in a twin but they would sort it for the next night. The room was small and dark and the bathroom smelled like a cesspit. We were not moved for a second night and had to spend another night in there. The location was good and it wasn't expensive and perhaps we were unlucky but there are other, better places to stay.

We spent three nights in a "superior room" with windows that were boarded up and poor internet connection. They have about 5 routers in the facility but none would give reliable connection. When I asked for help at the front desk, they said I could use a computer in the reception area. I said that I wanted to use mine in my room, told them what the troubleshooting said was the problem and asked for help. The clerk made a phone call. After standing in front of him for a few minutes while he was talking on the phone, another clerk asked if she could help. When I told her that the clerk on the phone was calling about the internet problem, she said, "oh no, he is talking to his family".
The breakfast was the worst we had in our 3 weeks in SE Asia and the coffee was absolutely terrible. Some went out to a coffee shop to get something drinkable. The air conditioning worked and the location is not bad.
We were expecting something better from a hotel with a "certificate of excellence in 2013"

Room Tip: Ask if any have reliable internet and windows that admit light

Clean, well kept and large standard rooms. The best part of this hotel is its location just off the main street a couple of blocks from the town center including the night market. 25 M from Joba bakery. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. It has its own spa services and buffet breakfast if you book it.

Room Tip: Mid locations might be a bit quieter in the morning than E or F building but you probably want to ge...

New Daraphet Villa was a great location for our group of 15 people. Though the rooms are small, they have everything you need. Comfy Bed and hot showers! We were in the B wing and everyone loved it. Handy Location - top of the street to view the monks collecting morning alms and just a short stroll down to the centre of town. The staff were always friendly and helpful. Breakfast soup - YUM!! Would stay here again!

Good beds and pillows, rooms were clean and comfortable. The furnishings were nice. The manager was friendly and spoke English well, but the rest of the staff had very basic English. The first day breakfast was ok, with a buffet, but the second day they only offered ala cart, and it was quite meager, Neither day had juice or butter for the bread, both days the coffee was weak. On the one side there is backpacker guest house next door and it was noisy until 11:30, after that there were some amorous cats, or at least I hope it was cats...
There are better values in Luang Prabang, but this is a nice place.

Room Tip: Request a room away from the other guest house
