We spent considerable time reviewing the best restaurants in Luang Prabang. We enjoyed our dining at Blue Lagoon to the extent we came back for a second dining experience. This restaurant is made special by the waiters(and their attention to detail), quality of food and the outside layout and ambience. This was our best dining experience in Luang Prabang

Blue Lagoon recently moved to a new location (just a few shops down from the old place) and it's absolutely stunning. The restaurant is now tucked away down a small lane, the garden ambience is elegant, lovely and intimate, like dining in a private garden. The additional indoor dining area is beautifully done. Though you are inside and enjoying the air-con, the glass makes you still feel like you are in the garden.

The service and food are still stellar, especially the Swiss dishes. This restaurant is really one of the best in Luang Prabang and a treat. It's also the only restaurant in Luang Prabang with air-conditioning!

Much that's on the menu here is based on traditional Lao cooking, but it's been updated to bring it to a level of sophistication similar to what's happened to Peruvian cuisine. My wife and I had a soup of Green Papaya with Coconut Milk, Pork with Betel Nut, and Larb, the Laotian standard but here exceptionally good. We liked it so much we went back a second night. There's a dining room with air conditioning but the best is to eat in the garden, surrounded by lush tropical greenery. The service was fast and attentive but not obtrusive, and the head chef came out to make sure everything was to our liking. Good food, a relaxing setting, what more could one ask for.

So far this holiday, this has been our best meal and I'm writing this review about 10 days after our visit to Blue Lagoon.
Don't be fooled by the lane-way down to the restaurant, as this is a small oasis at the end and definitely worth the visit.
Service was excellent, as was the food, ambiance and surroundings.
We were a group of eight and were unable to eat outside, due to the setup of the tables, but inside was beautifully air conditioned.
The executive chef came out to the table at the end of the meal to make sure all had been as expected and to give us a little history on the establishment as it had only just moved to it's new location.

We went here based on reviews on TA and were not at all disappointed. The western owner/proprieter told us they just moved to this location about 2 weeks ago and it is very easy to find. We loved the Lao salad, with it's lovely fresh herbs. I had the homemade ravioli and my husband had the vienna sausage, which we each enjoyed. (The menu has a bit of a Swiss/German style in the dishes.) The western owner was there to oversee that all the patrons were happy and well served. Excellent house wines as well!
