This is a very lovely property in LP. The rooms are large, big beds, decent bathrooms, clean. Nice small pool. Very close to all the sights and only a few minutes from the Mekong. However I was very annoyed because I had made reservations, which were confirmed, for two rooms three months in advance but was then told just before arrival date that we had been transferred to a much, much inferior hotel. This is simply not acceptable and because of this I would not stay again. And the breakfast was inferior to what is offered in this part of the world.

Room Tip: The second floor rooms would be preferable to ground ( note: ground floor is always called the !st f...

We stayed in one suites which was a great size. Shower massive but leaked consistently.
Breakfast minimal and disappointing given we paid over $100 per night. It's a couple of kms outside town but makes for a short taxi or walk.
Friendly staff. Bike hire cheap and worthwhile to get a look around and outside town.

What a find ! I was so tired of the grey buildings, dirty beaches, sex tourists and unfriendly people in Thailand I booked on good luck a flight to the for me totally unkown city of Luang Prabang, because it was not expensive and from Chiang Mai it would only take less than one hour flight time. I immediately noticed the difference already at the Chiang Mai airport, Thai staff were very arrogant and full of show, the it was boarding of the Lao Airlines plane and they were so humble and goodlooking, in a special dress. The way they spoke was also very different, very serene and quiet while Thai language to me was always very harsh and ugly. Tourists on the plane were more the individual tourists and not the sex seekers or group tours people, apart from three young Singapore girls who could not stop filming everything, like eg about twenty times they took of a photograph of the Lao Beer can... So a good start of my escape from Thailand. Then landscapes under the plane changed from cultivated fields and bigger villages to only wooded mountains, so beautiful to see. We were in Lao territory now. The flight was perfect and we were even offered a fresh towel and a small snack with drinks. Arrival at the LPQ airport was extremely convenient as there are only a few fligths per day mostly from Vientiane, Siem Reap, Bangkok and Chiang Mai. Customs were very quick in handling everything, they even made a scan of the photo in my passport as I did not have any pictures with me. I had no Dollars no Kip so they allowed me to go to the ATM 20 meters further to pay the 35 USD for the European Union people's visum. Other countries had cheaper prices. It is a very small airport and when at the exit, there is just one person managing the airport taxis and a few very friendly drivers waiting there, just name the hotel, it is always the same price, 50 000 Kip or about 5 Euro. No discussions over tips like in Thailand. So it had begun in a very good way. And once on my way I discovered a kind of paradise: Beautiful surroundings by wooded mountains, terraced fields, the great Mekong river, many guilded Buddha temples, old colonial houses and very friendly, rather shy people. It had a very authentic feel. Then finally the hotel. Amazing. Especially when one knows this has always been one of the most remote areas of Asia and in fact still is. Prices for ghotels are relatively expensive in this city bit mine was available from 45 Euro a night for the standard room, which is not standard at all !! The villa is situated about a few minutes tuk tuk ride to the very city centre or about 2 to 3 Euro. It is a new place and rooms are large and very comfortable with good beds, wooden furniture and floors, high ceilings, flatscreen, airoc, wireless, modern bahtrooms with design furniture. Reception is mostly staffed by young students who take more than one job as well to get to develop their knowledge of English... What a difference with the for me lazy Thai guys. Breakfast included and is or the Asian, Western or healthy or in fact whatever you want. Everything is very clean and they have their own mini van for tours or airport transfers. Everybody here speaks at least basic English. The best thing is they have a small garden at the more quiet back of the villa with a delightfully fresh and clean pool, Lao style decorations and a small waterfall to keep the water fresh, whereas in Thailand it felt always warm and not very clear. This one is crystal clear. Bycicles are available for rent for only 2 Euro a day and are extremely good bikes. You can visit some small villages, go to the fields, cross the Mekong river to the other side, visit the many temples etc... What a nice place and in fact they have very beautiful and young people as well. Very good of their government to keep the cheap Thai style tourists away and try to keep the place as authentic as it is. There is a curfew for everybody from midnight so at aboput 1130 PM everyhting closes but who cares ? There are some very nice and upmarket places in the centre which could compete with trendy cities in the West concerning design, music and food and drinks. Lounge bars for example.
So in fact is was so surprised about Laos because in fact it has it all as Thailand for me ticked none of the boxes. Next time back to Laos, for sure ! For people like me who don't have a clue about what to expect, I think Luang Prabang can be compared with Luxor, Egypt or Stone Town Zanzibar and add a bit of Sri Lanka.

We booked 3 rooms in this hotel, one suite and 2 superior deluxe rooms. The suite was of good size and was located on the first floor. The deluxe rooms are below ground smaller and quite dark. Eventhough the rooms were large they were not practical: A huge bathroom without the possibility to hang up something, all showers were leaking, a balcony (for the suite) without furniture etc. Cleanliness was not great. Many dead insects lying around.
We chose this hotel because of the swimming pool which was nice, but during our 4 day stay we never saw it cleaned.
Breakfast was very simple and ok.
This hotel is located on a main road outside of town centre.
I would not go back to this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms on the ground or first floor, those in the basement are dark and have view at a stone...

Spacious, quiet rooms, nice pool and helpful staff. LIttle bit removed from the main town area, but only a short bike or tuk tuk ride. We chose this property for its size and pool - we don;t like big resorts. Loved Luang Prabang and will vist Laos again. Had a great day Zip Lining and also at Khounsi waterfall.

The room was excellent comfort, large and spacious. I loved the bath room so much. The pool was great for our children to relax when they backed from the tours. The hotel located in very quiet place with huge nature so it was the best to relax after many noisy city in Asia. The tuk tuk will take you wherever you one at the lobby of hotel. We had a great stay with friendly, helpful staff from the moment we arrive till we left.
Tps: Phousi mountain, Kuang Si waterfall a must place to visit.
