“Perfect stay!”
Reviewed 9 February 2014 via mobile

Just had four nights in this beautiful property and can honestly say it was perfect. I didnt mind that it was a bit removed from the centre as there was nothing better than grabbing a bicycle and cruising aroung this gorgeous town. Service was impeccable and the food in the restaurant was delicious. My pioneer suite was enormous and the bed was very hard to get out of . Love that they have a pillow menu! The concierge, Santi, was most helpful in organising my day trips and nothing was a problem. Beautiful grounds, pool and architecture. Loved the whole thing.

What a nice little place. Away from the craziness/main strip and great view of the city. Rooms are very nice. We were visiting during December – it was very cold. We arranged for a heater in our room but still was very cold still. But, supposed to have been the coldest in decades (which we believe coming from Chicago) Had some problems with the water in the bathroom. Sometimes there was no water, sometimes it was cold, no pressure and other times it was perfect and high pressure. Had a mind of its own, so heads up. Food at hotel was ok. Service was great, staff was very friendly. Shuttle to and from town, so very convenient. Nice pool for warm months. Visiting on our honeymoon in Thailand for 21 days - we stayed in Luang Prabang for 4 days – but thought 3 days would have been PLENTY!!!! Either way, had a great time.

We stayed at the Luang Prabang View Hotel in November 2013 and we absolutely loved it. The hotel is very clean, quiet and the location is just perfect, giving you a lovely view over the valley. The staff... I could not praise more! Just amazing, and so extremely nice and helpful!
The hotel has a free shuttle to the city centre and you can book it also outside of the normal schedule and it still will be free. Thank you for a great stay!

Room Tip: Rooms are great. We went for the standard room and it was great!

I recently stayed 3 nights at this resort in a beautifully decorated room with a view. The rooms are two to a building. It came with its own private patio. The bathroom is huge with dual sinks, a very large free standing tub, a separate shower and separate toilet. There was a good assortment of toiletries and plenty of towels. The resort is built on a hill with views from all sides. The very large pool area at the top was outstanding with 360 degree views. Some of the rooms also have their own private infiniti pools. There is a beautiful spa on the grounds as well as a bar and restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay as well as the charming town of Luang Prabang. You do need to be able to walk well because of the way the resort is built on a hill and there are many stairs up and down. However there is a service road which does have some shuttle service to the rooms which I believe you would only need to call, but even to the restaurant there are stairs. The staff could not be nicer. The only reason I do not give this 5 stars is because you come here to spend time in the town which is not convenient. The hotel has a shuttle to town by appointment, but walking to and from is not an option. We did take the shuttle into town and returned by Tuk Tuk but the small ones drop you off on the main road at the bottom of the hill because they can tip over if they try to climb the hill to the hotel entrance. We walked up which was ok for us, but not everyone. Ideally being situated closer to downtown would be best. However, I still highly recommend it as a luxury experience.

We booked this hotel because our friend spent great time 2 years ago in this hotel as it was member of the Shinta Mani group. This times are past as it was renamed to Luang Prabang View Resort. Our choice of standard room for $120 was a mistake. The standard rooms are located in a dependance in front of the hotel. The rooms were clean, modestly equipped without safe, no shower but with a bathtub, no information about the hotel facilities. But that all would be acceptable because of the nice location on the hill overlooking the town and the nice swimming pool. Then came the sleepless night, the road is running directly under the windows of the dependance and in front of the building was a construction site. The work started at 5 am and the noice from the street was unbearable, you could mean all tuktuks and lorries are driving through your room. In the morning we contacted the reception and were offered an upgrade to the superiour rooms. Because of that Iam writing 2 reviews for this hotel. The standard are NO value for your money, it s a ripoff, the fair rate would be definitely about $ 30. If you want to spend over $ 100 you find a wide range of quite better options in Luang Prabang

Room Tip: avoid standard rooms

I agree with many of the previous comments regarding the physical characteristics of this hotel; but it is still a work in progress regarding services and dining. I speak as a seasoned international traveler of many decades, and one that recently traveled in Bangkok, Hanoi, Saigon, and Vientiane. Albeit this is the low season, so there may be hope later in the year. The breakfast offerings are indifferent and the same selection of American, European and Asian dishes everyday. No imitation shown to vary the offerings. The Wi-Fi Internet service is a disaster in the rooms; bandwidth is rationed, and access duration are limited. Public areas are well served without the validation hassle. Each device requires a separate username/password. This is not the place for persons with mobility issues as there are stairs everywhere; each with a different rise and thread size. Not a handrail to be seen.

Dear Our Valued customers,
Greetings from LuangPrabang View Hotel, where Colors, Culture and the Heritage meet!
Herewith I would like to respond to this review and hi-lighting two matters:
As the customer’s review: American, European (Continental) and Asian Breakfast are same every day.
My Respond is: .Of course it is a standard breakfasts all over the world…we cannot change the standard or the required items of the “American or the European (Continental) breakfasts” . As we have advertised serving American, European Breakfast therefore we must follow the choices of those breakfast items to keep the promise to all our guests.
I can understand for the Asian Breakfast now we are serving Lao Traditional Breakfast; serving Rice Noodles with choice of, fish, Pork, Beef or Vegetarian items for the customers to experience the local Lao style breakfast for their choice.
Regarding the Wi-Fi:
YES, I am agreed with the guest in the past we had different pass word for different location in order to have the high speed connection section by section, we are Resort Hotel and lots of outdoor spaces. Since the Local provider has upgraded their system therefore we have upgraded our system into only one pass word can use in the hotel choice of the location. Every Location Have their own Modem to boost the high speed.
On behalf of the team, please accept our sincerely apologize caused your stay uncomfortable and inconvenience while you werestaying with us.
Thank you

We stayed 3 nights at the Shinta Mani in Luang Prabang and had an absolutely wonderful time. It is a boutique hotel located a few minutes outside downtown at the top of a hill with great views of the city, the Mekong river, and the mountains.

The rooms are more like "villas". They are well decorated, very spacious, and they all have a large private outdoor space - some even have private pools. The main pool is very nice, and also has great views. The spa cannot be missed - the massage was one of the best we ever had and the best part it was at a very reasonable cost. There is a restaurant as well which was also great.

The staff was also very friendly and helpful. They also offer a free shuttle to downtown (both ways) which makes it even more convenient. One day we actually had the driver to take us to downtown at 5am to give "alms" to the monks and he stayed there waiting for us to take us back to the hotel.

We wish we could go back to Luang Prabang and stay at Shinta Mani every weekend, but 20+ hours flight makes it a little difficult but we will certainly be back.

We spent almost 3 weeks traveling to Vietnam, Laos and Malaysia and we are glad we used Explorient Travel Services Inc (http://www.explorient.com) to organize everything for us otherwise we would likely not have found this wonderful hotel. If you are planning a trip to anywhere in Asia they are really recommended - we have travelled with them 3 times already.

The charming hideaway of Luang Prabang is one of Indochina’s gems and the showpiece of Laos. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1995, the well preserved city is more of a sleepy backwater than a modern metropolis. Wedged into the confluence of the mighty Mekong and lesser Khan river, Luang Prabang's peaceful location sets the pace for the unhurried way of life in the second largest city in Laos. Its grid-like road network makes it virtually impossible to get lost, and the entire town can be covered on foot in a day. ... more   less
