“Worth to wake up for this”
Reviewed 20 November 2013

Very spiritual. The only downfall of it is the number of tourist getting too close to the monks. There are several areas in town where they promote expected behaviour.

“Be a part of it”
Reviewed 20 November 2013 via mobile

I woke up early expecting to just snap a photo of the ceremony like many tourists (in a respectful manner of course). Instead a local man asked me to sit next to him and have me a plate of food and bowl of sticky rice to give as the monks walked by. Was a great experience giving food and actually being a part of the procession. Afterwards I offered to pay the man but he refused and told me good things will happen.

“Up early”
Reviewed 19 November 2013

Good to be up at sunrise to share Alms giving with the monks. There are many Wats in Luang Prabang and the rich orange colour of their robes is a sight not to be missed early in the morning.

“Feeding the Monks”
Reviewed 16 November 2013

We got up early for a unique experience. We were able to feed the
Monks as they passed along the road. They go out early for their breakfast and depend on what people give them. Truly an experience that give you the opportunity to get to know the local people

“Disappointed”
Reviewed 15 November 2013

Tourism has hijacked a significant aspect of the local life, coach loads of Japanese tourists buying cheap crap from street vendors and inserting themselves into the ceremony so they can be photographed. Tourists should be restricted to one side of the street when this takes place.
