Only lacking a pool, but grass and shade or sun. Rooms very spacious - double bed larger than twin. Iron, hairdrier, bowl of fruit. Staff very efficient and pleasant, remembering roomnumbers for you. Spa massage uk prices, but most relaxing. Aircon a little noisy at first.
Meals good, a bit western, but not cheapest, and cold stuff kept cool on buffet. Mecong weed worth trying with breakfast! Area slows down by 10pm, but they are up early. Sunset below hotel better than up on Mt. Phousi. Local proper market an experience - if you have time, real crush and some squalour. Night market for tourists all good humoured bargaining. Not far to walk into centre and other restaurants, but tuk-tuks easy to get.

Dear Customer,

Sabaidee! Greetings from the team at Xiengthong Palace!

We thank you for having taken the time to share your experience with the TripAdvisor community, and we appreciate your feedback. Mekong river weed is served at our breakfast, together with other Luang Prabang specialties and sweets, and we are glad to hear you enjoyed it. You may also like to know that we use mainly local produce, including our coffee, grown at the Champasak province, South of Laos.

We all look forward to welcoming you back in a future trip to Luang Prabang!

Best regards,

Guillermo

This hotel is the perfect choice for staying in the centre of Luang Prabang. After a day spent in intensive walking, returning to the hotel was like returning home. It's very well decorated, combining traditional with contemporary elements. The staff is very nice and helpful. The food served in the restaurant is also good, breakfast included. I definitely recommend this hotel as an excellent price/value choice.

We have not much to add to all these good reviews because we do agree. There is definitely room for improvement at the "Mekong kitchen" restaurant both in cuisine and in service but that said it is a great choice at a reasonable cost... for Luang Prabang.

Dear Customer,

Sabaidee! Warm greetings from Xiengthong Palace!

I thank you for your review, which I have shared with the Kitchen by the Mekong team. Your feedback definitely helps us in ensuring we move on the right direction. Our Chef is finalising a new menu that, apart from showcasing Lao, Western and Sri Lankan food, will also help our Service team to improve and reach higher standards.

I trust you had a nice stay in our hotel, and I look forward to welcoming you back at Xiengthong Palace if your future plans include returning to lovely Luang Prabang.

Best regards,

Guillermo

Luang Prabang is a very interesting place to visit. This was our first hotel in Laos and it way exceeded our expectations. The reception was great (cool towels and refreshing drink) and cheery people to show us to our room. What a room and it wasn't the top grade. (superior). We were advised that we were upgraded so perhaps that made the difference. Large comfortable room and bath with an outside deck to sit on. The deck was close to the road and river so it was fun watching the world go by. In the morning the monks walk right by the hotel with their alms bowls.
The night market was a great place to do some shopping. Best we found in Laos and Myanmar.
They have a very good restaurant with friendly and attentive staff.
We became friendly with the chef who offered to make us a lunch for the trip on to Vientiane.
We loved this place.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a veranda.

Perfect location in the centre of town, in very quiet locations fronting the Mekong River bench and only two paralell street from the main street.
And watch out: Rise early at least once during the stay to experience the munks "parading passing by" the hotel to get their food from the locals:; amazing and one of it's kind !!!
The hotel consist of several builidings, among them two Grand Suite buildings where the suites on the ground floor consist of terrace, living room and huge jacuzzi/swiming pool, and on 1st floor bedroom , huge bathroom and balcony. Cosy, local style and high quality !!
The hotel has a very good bar and restaurant, - and the grand buffet breakfast is just great !!
You will also find a very nice spa sectrion ,- but the prices for treatments are extremely high !!!!

Room Tip: Go for the mentioned Grand Suites The two suite buildings are both in the centre of the hotel prop...

A lovely place to stay, great location although all hotels in luang probang are centrally located. The only fault i found was that they ran out of bread one morning at breakfast. And the price of this hotel is high when you consider what things cost locally how can they justify £150 a room a night. I would stay here again but onlybif i could get a deal on the price.

A home away from home a truly relaxing villa including a well appreciated private jaccuzi for tired limbs.
An outstanding staff in all service areas, the best breakfast selection and quality of food in all of Indochina. An excellent management staff as well as a great Sri Lankan chef and the most friendliest head of Kitchen Staff. Great location on a tranquil river setting.
