“A friendly place in a quiet area only 10 minutes from night market”

I moved here from another guesthouse as it was recommended to me.
Oud, the owner was very friendly, helpful and efficient.
She even organised an early breakfast for us at 05:30 before taking us to the airport in her new minibus.
The rooms are clean and large with aircon and tv though you probably won't need aircon in Luang Prabang, or tv. There is a balcony area upstairs which is a nice place to enjoy a beer Lao.
Bicycle rental here too and a little shop across the road which is useful.

Luang Prabang is a really beautiful place. We stayed in the Malida for two nights as part of a G Adventures tour and I would say that this is a perfectly good place to spend your nights.
By Western standards it is quite basic but at the same time, it was very comfortable, secure and impeccably clean.
The rooms and bathrooms are a little on the small side but in fairness, you don't go to Luang Prabang to sit in your room! if you did then there would be something wrong with you!
The a/c is good, there is free internet and wifi and a decent breakfast.
The main sights such as the National Museum and the Wat Pu Si (an absolute must to go to and sit and watch the sunset) are about ten minutes leisurely stroll, as is the main market.
The Malida is in a quiet, sleepy part of town, very quiet and restful and well worth your time and money.

We stayed here two nights as part of a G Adventures tour. The hotel is located a little outside the heart of Luang Prabang, about a 10 minute walk away. The hotel is clean, though the rooms are a little small. We were only given one roll of toilet paper for our stay and they did not clean the room while we were there. The AC in our room made the room either very cold or kept the room too hot. Our TV broke the first day we were there, and even though we let the front desk staff know, nothing was done about it during our stay. The Wi-Fi is free, and works best closest to the front desk. Breakfast was provided and was good - eggs, bread (lots), bananas and coffee or tea. The staff was very friendly.

Big rooms, free wi-fi (better in front rooms), 2 desktop computers for you to use, great showers. We had someone from our tour group become ill & they took them to & from the hospital - beyond what was asked for.

Staff were friendly and curious, sweet and interested to meet you. Bike rental was helpful and breakfast was nice. Room was comfy. But they should put more than one roll of toilet paper in each room so that you don't have to keep asking them.
Really nice location just out of the heart of the city.
