Stayed here 4 nights, we leave today.
When you take a tuktuk, you can ask the driver to bring you to the old bamboobridge (dry season only). You buy a 5000 kip dayticket to cross the bridge, walk upstairs, turn to the left and after +/- 200 m you arrive at Phone Praseuth.
So no noise at night but close to everything.
Very friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms, hot shower and a nice garden.
Good breakfast service, mostly eggs, bread and fruit.

This place is AMAZING! I'm so glad I booked here, it really did make my very special time in Luang Prabang even more wonderful.

Kamphone and his family are just delightful. Kamphone makes a real effort with every single guest and came and chatted to me every morning whilst I was having my breakfast. He's so friendly, as is everyone else I came across. Always a huge smile to greet their guests which makes you feel very valued.

Breakfast was great. Your choice of eggs, though there are Laos noodles if you fancy soup for a change (I had this one morning and it was delicious!). There's also tea/coffee/juice and watermelon and papaya.

The guesthouse is over the bamboo bridge which, as people have correctly pointed out, is definitely not for those that have mobility issues. There's a 5,000kip fee and sometimes the bridge is dark, but I would just walk the extra kilometre or so from town to the Old Bridge and get back that way.

Kamphone really has nailed excellence in hospitality, and I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone who wants a peaceful place to chill out in an already chilled out little town!

Enjoy.

I was only planning to stay at Phone Praseuth for a couple of nights, but ended up staying for over a week. The guest house and owner are lovely, personifying Laotian charm. Access from the city via the Bamboo bridge (dry season only) adds extra adventure to staying here, making it all the more special. All in all an excellent place to stay. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful stay at Phone Praseuth and would highly recommend it. The room although small was clean, sufficient, and most importantly, had air conditioning AND a fan. The location was perfect, just across the river (giving you an excuse to walk the bamboo bridge) and only 2 mins from the main area. We were even able to watch the alms ceremony in the morning, without the craziness, right outside the hotel. We borrowed free (and well kept) bikes from him during our stay and were able to book motorbikes at a very reasonable rate. The owner was especially great- helpful, kind and great to talk to. We got into a little accident with the bike and he was so concerned, we really felt welcomed to his hotel. Overall Luang Prabang was our favorite place in SE Asia and we would definitely return to this hotel.

A clean, spacious and attractive guesthouse the other side of the river from the main town. Good a/c. The owner and family were very helpful and friendly. We had free transfers both from and to the airport. The area feels quieter and less touristy than the main town and was only a minute away from a wonderful restaurant by the river. To get to the other side of the river took about three minutes and involved walking down quite steep steps and across a bamboo bridge ( 5000 kip each for a day ticket - a tiny sum which is used to maintain the bridge and rebuild it after the rainy season). This added to the enjoyment for us, but would not be suitable for anyone with mobility problems.

Room Tip: We had a nice corner room which gave more privacy.

We stayed two nights at this guesthouse. Rooms are nice and clean and the place is well kept. The main drawback was having to cross the bamboo bridge to get most anywhere worth seeing, which we thought was a bit of a nuisance. Plus you actually have to pay 5.000 kip in order to cross the bridge. At night, when the bridge was not lit, we ended up having to pay for a tuk tuk to take us back home (around 35.000-40.000 kip). After two nights, we moved to a guesthouse in town.
Another problem was the internet connection, which was very bad. For some reason, you could only connect to Facebook (and other websites) with a proxy, while elsewhere we didn't have this problem.
Also there was a misunderstanding regarding our Agoda booking. We thought we had booked a double room but once we got there we found out it was a double room with single occupancy. We had to pay an extra $5 per night. I think they should make clear that you are actually booking a single room, rather than a double room.
On the positive side, like I said, the rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast is pretty good even though they serve Nescafe instead of real coffee. One day I missed the breakfast time and they still served me, which was nice.

Stay here for 5 nights in March and was mightly impressed. very good value for money which I think you would find hard to match. Location at first doesn't appear too central but there is a bamboo bridge about 2 minutes walk away which leds you to the very centre of the main tourist area. The room was very clean with good WiFi access and a very big bed. The owner is very helpful and can organise any trips etc... and also drops you at the airport when you leave
