“At $40 US per night not great value”
Reviewed 25 February 2014

We stayed here for two nights in February. Positives - clean room; friendly and well meaning staff (sadly not well trained) and the location near the bamboo bridge, which made for a short walk to the centre. The drawbacks – greasy eggs for breakfast, very few bicycles, and no real garden for relaxation even though the website states that there is a garden behind the guest house.

We spent five nights here, adding a night (Christmas, actually) at the start of our stay just a couple days before arriving, which they kindly gave us at the same price as we'd paid via agoda.com.

I liked that we were across the bamboo bridge from the main part of town. The walk wasn't far and the bridge toll is small (5000 kip), and the location is quiet. It's also close to the airport, and they provide free pick-up and drop-off service in their van. We also ate at two fine restaurants on our side of the bridge, Dyen Sabai and Pizza Phan Luang.

The rooms were clean and comfortable though not overlarge, breakfast was great (omelets and baguettes) except the coffee was tepid, maybe because we were there in the winter.

The owner and employees couldn't have been more helpful, kind, and friendly. One of the joys of staying in a guesthouse is connecting with the people who run the place.

Another plus is that we heard monks chanting around 7am every morning. Unlike the huge dawn alms procession that happens in town and is overrun by tourists, there are monks from 3 or 4 monasteries that receive alms on the street outside the guesthouse. I saw the in-town extravaganza and the local procession on consecutive mornings, and much preferred the local one.

We stayed at the guesthouse for three nights and enjoyed our stay.
The staff were very friendly, informative and helpful and the rooms were very clean.
We liked the location, you cross a bamboo bridge to get to the main part of town - about a 7 minute walk. It costs 5000 kip for one person for a return trip across the bridge which helps to pay towards maintenance.

We booked six nighht's accommodation at Phone Praseuth Guesthouse and requested a transfer from the airport by email. We received a quick, positive response and were met at the terminal by Mr Khamphone, the gracious owner. Although the guesthouse is separated from the old town by a bamboo bridge, we found this no problem by day, or after dark with our torch, and we are both in our sixties. You can also take a taxi over the old bridge if you prefer. We appreciated the distance from the centre of Luang Prabang for the peace and quiet this gave us. After travelling for a month, we much prefer waking to the sound of the local roosters to the sound of motor scooters. Also the local craft village (weaving and paper making) makes an interesting alternative morning's walk or bicycle ride. Two excellent restaurants are also within a few minutes walk.
The guesthouse is new, clean and beautifully furnished. Our room (number12) was provided with a comfortabe double bed, fridge, wardrobe, TV wth satilite channels, air conditioning and a fan. Shower was hot if the water pressure was kept low. Both Western and local style breakfasts were provided with fresh fruit and coffe/tea.. Particularly recommend the noodle soup.
Room was serviced every day. All staff were friendly and enthusiastic. We have no reservations in recommending this accommodation.

Room Tip: Had a top floor room, these may be quieter than ground floor at breakfast time.

My partner and I had a great time staying at Praseuth Guesthouse. After a string of less than wonderful hostels/hotels, it was really a luxury to stay here. More expensive than the other hostels in the main city centre - I imagine you get a lot more. Very clean, quiet, and luxurious compared to other places. Breakfast is included everyday.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. They drove us to the airport for an early flight and made us breakfast to go. Praseuth Guesthouse is also in a unique location - across the bamboo bridge. Still close enough that you're within walking distance. You do have to pay to cross it, however it is a daily rate and is minimal. Additionally it closes after dark. So if you decide to go out, you'll have to go the long way around over the main bridge (best to just go by tuk-tuk at that point). Overall I would recommend the Praseuth Guesthouse if you're looking for a great place to stay.

My husband and I spent three nights at the Phonepraseuth Guesthouse in January of 2014. We had a wonderful stay and I would have no problem recommending this guesthouse to fellow travellers.
Mr. Khamphone and his staff are so friendly and helpful. Service is always served up with a smile. Our stay at the guesthouse included transfer to and from the bus station, other guests were provided the same service from the airport. Mr. Khamphone will help in arranging tours, rentals and transportation if you wish. We rented a motorbike during our stay and it was delivered and picked up at the hotel at no additional cost to us. We had the added security of knowing that we were dealing with a reputable company with Mr. Khamphone's recommendation. He is also very knowlegeable in pointing out local attractions. Good bicycles are also available at the guesthouse and are included with your stay.
The rooms at the hotel are very clean. Free WIFI is available and the rooms have TV. The room size is quite adequate. There are many outdoor seating areas to enjoy the fresh air. Showers are the normal Lao style and the water is quite hot. There is a lot of natural wood throughout which adds much character to the hotel. Breakfast is quite good. Eggs how you like them, baguette, fresh fruit, juice, coffee or tea.
The guesthouse is situated across the river from the main tourist area of Luang Prabang. It is in a quiet area which is great for a good rest. Restaurants, the night market, tour operators etc.. can be accessed quite easily by walking. A bamboo bridge behind the hotel will get you to the main tourist area in less than 5 minutes of walking. There are a couple of good restaurants near the hotel as well.
If we find ourselves in Luang Prabang again, this will definitely be our guesthouse of choice. We had a wonderful stay!

We stayed at Phonepraseuth Guesthouse for 5 nights and had a great time. The owner, Khamphone, picked us up from the airport in his private shuttle. The room is clean and simple. Our room had a wall fan with an opening that lets mosquitoes in. Once I told Khamphone he put a makeshift cardboard cover over it and solved the problem. Very resourceful! We were able to book waterfall tours and bus to Vientiane through him. Breakfast is simple and filling. 2 nice restaurants around the corner and very close to bamboo bridge that connects to the city centre. Definitely good bang for your bucks!
