We loved our stay at Phone praseuth, located just across the bamboo bridge. The staff here were so friendly and helpful which really made us feel at home and we loved our room. There are a couple of really nice restaurants this side of the river too!

We stayed here 5 nights on our 3 month trip and it couldn't get any better. Spotless, laundry done same day plus clean towels, and no noise from neighbours. Khamphone and his staff are lovely and he goes out of his way to help. We used the phone to organise and we were not allowed to pay for calls, he collected us and took us to the airport and bus station free, he and his assistant spent time with us chatting about local things and Laos in general and he helped us organise anything and everything. It is on the other side of the small river from the town centre but there is a bamboo bridge which takes 5 minutes to walk into the centre - exciting for us as we are 64 and 72! Everyone appreciated how helpful he is and we even met a young woman who travelled to LP specially as she had been told how wonderful the place is. Go and stay!

Plus Points:
- friendly and attentive staff (owner, Mr Kamphone, and the operational staff member:
- early morning monks alms gathering procession outside the PP guesthouse is not over-run by (particularly Chinese) tourists taking photos (as it is in the centre of Luang Prabang)
- one block (a few hundred metres) from bamboo bridge to access the central old town area (7 minutes walk). The is perfectly close enough to be convenient but also far away enough to feel away from the tourists
- arrival pick up to / from airport or transit / transfer point
- close to an amazing pizza Phan Luang restaurant that is most welcome when you've been craving western food
- close to Dyen Sabai restaurant which is well worth checking out for local cuisine
- bike hire service

Areas for Improvement:
- the staff should be more forceful in "managing" the messy, noisy, unsocial Chinese guests that disrupt the experience for other guests
- wifi is intermittent

Overall Take-away:
I highly recommend this B&B and would stay here again.

We stayed in Phone Praseuths for four nights in late January, and we were very happy with our choice. From the moment the owner Khamphone collected us at the airport (he always offers this service), to the moment he took us back, we met nothing but friendly staff and an interested and helpful owner. Full marks for all of that. The rooms are clean and have all the basics you need, tv shower etc. Breakfast was nice, lots of coffee. Our only discomfort was that January mornings in LP are cold! Foolishly we didn't expect that, and as the dining room is outside, it made for amusingly chilly breakfasts, with most guests admitting they'd made the same mistake. So bring a fleece if going in January! Basically this b&b is great value, but if you're looking for ultra fancy you might want to pay more. We liked it, and there's a really nice restaurant around the corner (Dyen Sabai), and the bamboo bridge is a great way in to town (dry season only). Thanks Khamphone and staff! PS, my wife cut her foot kayaking, and the lady of the house (a nurse!) was very helpful and gave her some disinfectant cream for it. Above and beyond : )

Room Tip: Rooms at the front are sunnier in the mornings, and further from the crowing rooster!

Ok,Taxi pick up by the owner, Away from the main town on a quite backroad,The Guesthouse is set back from the main road hardly any traffic and NO! car horns The front drive is large with the kitchen to one side, the front entrance acts as the foyer come office the staff where perfect from the cleaners to the front desk nothing was out there way to help, the rooms are on two levels with a small court yard acting as a breakfast area in the mornings it is very light and spaceouse with comfortable chairs outside all rooms, The rooms them selves are compact nice size double bed table either side with a wardrobe a chair. the room came with an old TV, fridge and AC, the shower room was also compact but did its job nice hot water available. after a perfect night sleep breakfast was served (chosen the day before), endless coffee. The walk to the local town was amazing down the long steep steps past a restaurant and craft shops to the river over the bamboo bridge then back up the bank to the town, cafes and restaurants ATMs scattered along the road, with a night market full of fresh food which we took back to the guest house to eat. we hired a bike to get around $20 aday the waterfalls and caves are the main attraction. The owner Mr Khamphone always took time to talk to us explaining where to go. cloths washing was done in aday and came back perfect, oh and a small convenience stall across the road. Absolutely a fantastic trip.

Room Tip: all rooms are good
