“Ethnic food set menu”
Reviewed 3 December 2013

Located at the small hill next to Dara market which hide behind TAEC, their Ethnic food set menu is very special, the "Akha meat balls" & "Homong pork belly and leafy green stew"(<- similar to a famous Chinese dish called "梅干扣肉") are very delicious! But for the other dishes we felt a little bit not get used to them. It's depends.

“A quiet spot with unusual food and French tarts”
Reviewed 24 June 2013

The cafe is a quiet spot to escape the commercialism of Luang Prabang's main touristy street. It is situated in the building of the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre, a private museum that is a former residence of a French colonial judge. Inspired by the museum, the cafe, which is part of the L'Elephant restaurant group, offers traditional dishes of northern Lao ethnic minorities. Unusual spices are used and without salt and fermented fish, which are found in Lao cooking. A selection of French fruit tarts, quiche, and baguettes are also available for those who want Western fare. Here the selection of baguette sandwiches differs from those available at the other restaurants. Refreshments are available too along with L'elephant's signature fruit tarts.

The cafe is small but often only with a few customers so it is a quiet place to read a book or surf online. The wifi signal is strong since not too many people are using it.

“Nice cafe at the TAEC”
Reviewed 10 November 2012

Well worth a stop for some nosh here if you are visiting TAEC (which it is part of...not convinced the current photos are right) The citron tarte was described somewhat breathlessly by one of our group as 'the best she had ever tasted'. The Quiche Lorraine was okay. Enormous ham sandwiches kept small people occupied for some time
