“So friendly, helpful and fun”
Reviewed 13 November 2013 via mobile

We stayed here with friends for four nights and to be honest the people here were probably the most friendly we have encountered in our 18 months traveling. The guesthouse is on a small side street and has only 10 or 12 rooms. The staff here especially on reception were just a delight. Nothing was too much trouble, they helped us organize a motorbike, find places on the map and were just a pleasure to be around. The rooms were clean, had a fridge, good hot water supply - everything you need.
A great place to stay - they also have a couple of balconies where you can hang out and have a beer and chat to the other guests.
We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The Vietnamese girl was very friendly and helpful. She provided excellent services. The room was clean and in a good size with reasonable pice. It's location isn't far from the market. So you can walk to the Phusi temple and the Joma cafe. I'll definitely stay at the guest house.

We arrived in Luang Prabang quite early in the morning after 18 hours of land transportation. So we were extremely glad that we were granted an early check in, in a room upstairs (as we requested as we had read tips on TripAdvisor). Our two first night was quite enjoyable except for a very noisy dog that the could bark from 03:00 and on and on and on. But this was not the guesthouse's dog and we couldn't fault them for it. However for our next 2 nights we were moved downstairs and this is when we found the noise upstairs to be most disturbing. The guests that moved upstairs had great stamina as we were woken up several times a night by their "noises". The walls and floors were thin, very thin.

However the guesthouse did have great staff that did their best in making our stay comfortable. The girl receptionist was quite knowledgeable about the area and had great suggestions for restaurants and activities. The rooms were clean and had mosquitoes nets which came in quite handy.

We booked an airport pick-up and we were informed that we were going to be picked-up by the driver holding a piece of paper with our names on it. Upon arrival at airport, there was no driver with our names. After waiting, we called the hotel and they said the driver was on his way. But to our disappointment, there was none. We had to ride the airport taxi available, which again was another story of misunderstanding.

Upon arrival in the hotel, we did NOT feel a hint of welcome. The female manager(?) did not even apologize for the pick-up mishap. The only person who made us feel welcome was the man who carried our luggage.

The room was average in size but neat and the bed was arranged nicely. The bathroom was small and the hot/cold shower was hard to control.

We woke up very early for the Tak Bat but no one else was awake so we had to eat breakfast after. Note that they did not offer breakfast, but we had to ask for it. Breakfast was okay but I enjoyed eating outside the house while the sun was rising. Coffee was also good! I guess the bed and coffee was only the things I enjoyed.

For our transport back to the hotel, we rented a tuk tuk on our own.

Basically, we chose this hotel because it was cheap. If we knew that the service & location wasn’t this good, we could have sacrificed a few more dollars for another accommodation so our stay in Luang Prabang could have been better.

My wife and I just spent 10 nights in Luang Prabang and had every intention on staying at this hotel until we arrived and were shocked by what they wanted to charge us vs. what they are advertising on hostelworld.com. As I write this, Hostelworld.com has this listing for $11 per night which is what we expected to pay when our Tuk Tuk dropped us off at this place. What we were told was that it was NOT $11 but in fact $18 (or more) per night to stay here. When I showed them their ad on hostelworld they said, "that price is not correct, everyone pays $18". So instead of honouring the price listed online, they chose to stick with their inflated price and lost our business for 10 nights. I wanted to post this so that other travellers do not get caught in the same situation that my wife and I found ourselves in. Instead we HIGHLY recommend you go to the mainstreet and stay at Khammany Inn which is fantastic.

Room Tip: Online price is not honoured in person.

We stayed at Singharat Guesthouse for two nights whilst in Luang Prabang - we loved it!

The rooms were clean and had a lovely en-suite bathroom. The rooms come complete with a mosquito net, fridge and AC.

The staff are very friendly and offer good advice about local places of interest; we also booked a full day tour and bus with the guesthouse both of which we got good prices for. The laundry service they provide is good and reasonably priced.

The breakfast the guesthouse provide is great and really sets you up for the day; there is plenty of food. There is a balcony you can sit out on for breakfast too which is nice.

Although the guesthouse is a small walk from the town this really was not an issue for us. It is in a quiet, safe street.

We definitely recommend staying here!

This place suited us perfectly. my boyfriend and i are travelling for a year so obviously are on a budget. this place fit the bill... and more. we got a room upstairs, it was clean and fairly new. bathroom is a wet room but we are used to that is Asia, most importantly it was clean. we found it very quiet. the staff were friendly and helpful. prob the best thing was the breakfast... again being on a budget an included breakfast is a bonus. choice varied from cereal and fruit to pancakes and omlets. all freshly prepared and tasty. really great value for money. it is not right in the center of things but only 7-10 min walk away and you can rent bikes through them too. 10,000 kip a bike.
