“family trip to laos”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2014

we visited Le Sen Boutique (june 2014) - chosen based on reviews on TA. we weren't disappointed. booked 2 rooms (and they were beside each other) - 3 kids (17, 15, 8).
accommodations were clean and complete, staff were very friendly, free shuttle (ran every 1/2 hr for most of the day) to/from night market added bonus (could walk but not with 8 yr old). pool was refreshing and restaurant - pricier than street but very reasonable vs back home "hotel price". included breakfast had all the essentials (and enough choice to please most anyone). hotel restaurant is open air - so expect the usual, but staff had portable fans to help with the heat. there are enough restaurants and convenience stores to pick up other snacks you need if you chose to venture out of the hotel. there are always cheaper options - but if this hotel is in your price range then we definitely recommned. a LOVELY STAY and we would stay here again if we were fortunate enough to return to Luang Prabang

The Hotel picked us up from the Shampoo Cruise at the Luang Prabang boat dock on arrival from the Northern Laos border town of Huay Xai and took us swiftly to Le Sen Boutique Hotel just outside the Old Quarter where we received warm Loa greetings and a welcome drink. Although the Hotel is a tasteful contemporary design it retains traditional Lao features with balconied or patio rooms set around a landscaped feature swimming pool plus a superb partially open sided restaurant offering semi alfresco dining from a delicious speciality Lao menu.
The bedrooms were clean, comfortable and thoughtfully designed having ultra modern bathrooms with dressing gowns and slippers.
Breakfast at Le Sen offers an excellent choice of breads and pastries with Western and Asian hot dishes accompanied by great coffee and a superb range of fresh fruit.
The hotel offers a peaceful and tranquil location with a regular complimentary mini bus service which takes a mere ten minutes to and from the Old Quarter temples, Night Market and main attractions.
However, possibly the most outstanding quality of Le Patta is the superb Staff who are friendly, attentive and informative but more importantly courteous. I would particularly like to thank Noi for all her, humility, friendly attention and kindness as well as her personal airport drop off for our flight to Hanoi.

The hotel is beautiful. Very nice pool, amazing breakfast, cosy rooms and friendly staff. It is a 5 minutes drive to the night market, but the hotel offers free shuttle bus to the market all day or you can borrow the bikes and use it for the whole day!

We stayed five nights at Le Sen.
The staff were very obliging to our every wish.
They organised tours for us and went out of their way for our enjoyment.
The rooms were spotless.
The staff were awesome.
The food was tasty, especially the lemon tarts after the markets at night.
A most enjoyable stay. Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: We stayed in a room by the pool which was perfect in the heat as we swam 2-3 times per day. We were...

We spent 5 days in Luang Prabang at Le Sen and throughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel was very clean, tidy and the rooms were nicely laid out and designed.
The staff were very friendly and helpful - allowing us a later checkout without having to pay extra, dropping us off at the airport for our flight out, and organising tours and directions.
The hotel is a little way out of the Old Quarter, however this meant that it was very peaceful (although we did have a rooster chorus pre dawn - but not much the hotel can do about that!) and there is a regular shuttle service. We were the only ones on it one evening, and they very kindly dropped us off at our restuarant.
Breakfast was great - loved the little touches like homemade yoghurt and jam. We also had dinner and lunch, and the food was very nice. Good selection of drinks as well.
The pool and gardens are very nicely landscaped, and were a welcome respite from the heat.

Firstly my apologies to the management of Le Sen for the tardiness of my review however I actually did write one before we left I was that impressed, however that review went missing.

It's often said that bricks and mortar makes a house but its the family and people that make it a home. The same could be said about hotels. Anyone can build a hotel but it was the staff and management of Le Sen that made it a boutique and friendly place to stay.

The hotel only has 19 rooms, facing either side of the swimming pool. Two storeys, we stayed in a ground floor apartment with only 5 steps needed to get into the pool. A nice sun lounge is allocated to each of the ground floor rooms and the top floor has balconies with a table and chairs. The pool is relatively small but certainly enough room for everyone.

Restaurant service was excellent, with the usual breakfast fare. We had a free dinner included in our package and that was very nice. You have to try theDeep fried Mekong River Weed. Nicer than it sounds.

The hotel is a little way out of the centre of LP but there is a shuttle that runs into town on a regular basis and if you ask nicely with a smile they'll do a run specially for you.

Now back to my earlier point: The staff. As an example of the friendliness of the staff - I split the sole of my only pair of sandals that I had so I went to reception to ask if they knew of anywhere I could buy some glue to try and do some running repairs. After a brief discussion Mr Mee Xay took me down the road and then to the back of some older gentleman's home. He discussed with him how my sandal needed fixing and to come back in half an hour. I was happy to walk back with my one sandal but Mee Xay ran ahead to his own apartment and came back with a pair of his own sandals for me to wear. I was very humbled and impressed.

The staff also brought me a little cake and sang happy birthday to me even though we were checking out and moving on 2 days before my birthday.

All in all a very comfortable place to stay made even more pleasant by their superb staff.

Thank you.

Dave

Room Tip: Ground rooms have direct access to the pool.
