There are two types of travelers in Laos--those having an adventure at any price, and those wanting to save every penny so they can stay longer. This place serves both. Come at 12:15 before the lunch rush and take a riverside table so you can watch the fascinating show of the people, produce and cars being loaded on the every 15 minute ferries across the fast flowing river. Then consider ordering 3 main dishes for two people and try something new. We had chicken with pineapple--no extra sweetness as in sweet and sour, but sautéed pineapple with the meat and a soy based sauce was delicious. We tried the vegetables, mushrooms and tofu, and a fried noodle dish. They bring green bananas as a complimentary dessert--I was going to turn up my nose, thought they weren't ripe, but they were so sweet and delicious that I have been watching the markets ever since for more.
After a nice rest and lunch I was ready for more climbing and more temples.
