When we arrived in Luang Prabang we didn't know the Unexploded Ordinance Museum/Visitor's center existed. Fortunately we did discover it. This is a must visit for anyone who cares about war.
This is a small place. There are pictures and video of people who are still being maimed by US cluster bombs from the Vietnam war

It's free and so very informative. We learnt so much here and were astonished that Laos still today has so many UXO's. We were pleased to see that the Australian govt is helping to fund the clearing of land and removing UXO's.

The exhibits are not amazing so don't expect to be wowed by them, but the insight into the plight of Laos after the secret war makes a visit to this museum very rewarding and eye opening.

This place is free to visit and within walking distance from the Hmong night market location. How can anyone visit a country like Laos and not learn about the ongoing devastating effects of unexploded ordnance which kills at least one person everyday! It's not a big centre and doesn't take long to walk through and look around. There are two very informative videos to watch (translated in English). You can donate or buy a tshirt but I think one of the best things you can offer is a small amount of your time to visit and learn.

I am not one for Museums or history but this place blew me away. The things that these people have been through it is amazing how happy and friendly they are and so little of their history is known or taught in Western world. This place brought me to tears and changed my world forever. Please visit, learn about the UXO (unexploded bombs) that are still killing people 40 years later, your visit will help make this country safe again
