“A gem displaying the cultural arts of Asia”
Reviewed 9 June 2014

Asiama is owned by a French photographer Alain Menoni who sells his black and white photographs in a small gallery in the historic town. The gallery also displays cultural objects from all over Asia from India across China to Japan, and throughout Southeast Asia. A collector for several decades Menoni has traveled and collected curios along the way. He is happy to share stories about the objects for interested visitors.

“Beautiful shop”
Reviewed 13 July 2013

Beautifully captured photos of Laos. The shop is full of antiques and photos at really reasonable prices. The post cards are cute and super affordable if your on a budget.
The owner was very friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit.

“Unique antiques in the heart of Luang Prabang’s peninsula”
Reviewed 7 June 2013

Gallery Asiama is a small, impeccably arranged antiques gallery a stone's throw away from the Mekong. Its marvelous location is done justice by the authentic & carefully selected ethnic Asian artifacts for sale. Many pieces are superb and one could spend hours looking at them while listening to the stories told by the knowledgeable French owner. Each piece has been hand-picked with prices ranging from very affordable to more expensive. I liked that many items are on the small side and could easily be carried along while continuing with travels. They may even serve as a talisman for the remainder of the trip? In any event, the shop will ship any items, large or small, if desired.
I found myself visiting the peaceful & enchanting shop on several occasions during my stay in LPG; admiring each artifact and the black & white photographs on display (the owner is also a gifted photographer). I waited too long to purchase a beautiful tribal Naga necklace that had caught my eye; it was snatched up by someone else. All in all, this is a very unique gallery/shop in town; a great find for serious collectors or travelers like me, who love to bring home just a few special items. The gallery is easy to find; it is located just across and down the road from the well-known restaurant L'Elephant in Ban Vat Nong.
