Located in the old city of Jeddah over looking either the a man made lake which resembles a large sewage leak or facing the older city of Jeddah. The uniqueness of this hotel is that it's one of the oldest hotels in Jeddah, and yes they have upgraded the insides. A warming entrance awaits you at a reception that will make you wait and wait in order to process your rooms, though the rooms are hand on heart spacious and adequately furnished. Breakfast buffet was a total let down though the location made up for the loss with a large shopping complex walking distance from the hotel.

Jeddah seems to be really poor on hotel standards unless you want to pay a small fortune. The Red Sea Palace was OK with rooms that were comfortable and clean and with a moderate price tag.
Position as pretty good, convenient for most business areas of Jeddah and near the sea (just for the view only).
It is a 3.5-4 star, no more. It has everything that you would probably need for a few days stay and I would consider staying again but the room I had backed onto the flat roof with all the AC units that made a noise throughout the night so I would keep an eye on my next room.

Room Tip: Sea facing rooms would be best

Have stayed here many times over past 5-10 years, what a pleasant surprise it was this time to find that rooms on certain floors have been upgraded! I was on 2nd floor and I believe the first and second floors both have upgraded rooms. The bed, bathroom and flat screen tv are all much improvement on before, plus new modern quieter air con unit.
Restaurant still offers good evening buffet and breakfast to similar ok standard.
Location is ideal for people with business in Balad.
Just get a move on and get the swimming pool and terrace back in action!

Room Tip: First or second floor!

This was my third time staying here in the past 18 months. Perfectly adequate place to stay, but it does get old after a while. Rooms are usually clean, but bathrooms are not (stay hairs, etc.) Rooms are also very noisy...even on the top floor sounds from the street cary well. 70 percent of the items on the room service menu don't exist. And food you order will vary from day to day based on who is cooking.

There is a mall a 5min walk away with grocery store and street vendors.

An ageing hotel apparently with a name behind it that seemed to have had a much-needed do over recently.
Located in the Al-Balad District of Jeddah reknowned for bustling commercial activity, the Hotel is a high end on the budget Hotel lines (if there was ever such a classification). It has an average dining facility popular with guests and city dwellers alike, it is no where near the established chains but stands out and compensates for that by its city centre location.
English-speaking friendly staff attend to lodgers but the Hotel is always busy and one needs to book ahead of arrival. It seems to be an attractive spot for some airline crews who are given check-in priority ahead of prospective lodgers without valid booking.
And yes, high-speed wireless internet is available everywhere.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking a body of water often confused with the Red Sea offer nice view of the city.

I have stayed in this hotel since April 2013. The experience has been mixed. The hotel is very dated but the rooms are a nice size however, Some days the room is cleaned, some days they hoover but not often, some days you have hot water and some days the food is edible. On the whole not a good experience, 1 month I could have handled it but 9 is far too long, and there's no end in sight. Today again no hot water and no room clean. Thank god I have a break next week

Room Tip: Book another hotel

Dear Mr. Stuart,

It has been a great pleasure to have you with us for indeed a long stay, yet we are very sorry for the inconveniences you have gone through while with us. During the previous period, there has been truly some challenges with housekeeping team due to labour decrees that were passed recently in KSA, which have affected the level of service expected by our valued guests. However, the matter has been resolved and we are currently handling the problems which you have addressed in your candid feedback.

We do place a great value on your patronage and continue to invite you to witness the improvements we introduced at your second home in Jeddah.

I was there between the end of november and the beginning of december.
THe room was quite big and comfortable. The furniture was quite damaged, with dust inside the wardrobe and everything show signs of use.
The breakfast was very good as well as the only lunch I took.
The position is very central and near to the "ancient" part of the city.
