“Simple Hostel for the price of a mid-range hotel”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

We choosed the Amir Kabir because of our late arrival and the good price in our guide book. When we checked in, it turned out, that the price had increased 10 times compared with the travel book. We where shocked. Usally we seen prices increased by 50-300%. But not 10x.

And what we got for that price was low hostel standard: Tiny room, shared bathroom, no towels. We moved the next day to a really nice hotel, with clean rooms, towels and own bathroom and paid only 100K Rials more (about $3).

Room Tip: Choose another hotel!

Perfect location and in ten minutes you can walk to Imam Square and Chehel Sotun.
But the room is very dirty and smells very bad. You can find hair on the floor or bed easy.

Light from corridor go into room even you close the door, so if you do not sleep easy, consider twice before you book.

You do not get your private bathroom even if you order single room,
the flow of water is extremely limited and the water is not even warm,
and it combines for a painful experience when you need to take a shower in -10C night.

To be fair, they have great wifi speed.

Room Tip: Avoid them.

Stayed in the dorm for 2 nights in December. Paid 250,000 rials or about 6 euros per night for the dorm bed. This is expensive compared to the rest of Iran but not terrible for Esfahan. The dorm itself was ok, and other than the cold walk to the shower, all the facilities were fine. Staff barely spoke English and a few were not very nice, but some stood out and even gave me a lift to the airport for less than a taxi would have cost.

We had a problem with the dorm being overbooked one night that the staff were just unable to deal with, ultimately one guy voluntarily got a private room for a night (I think he received a discount on it) but it took many hours to resolve which was annoying.

You can find a lot much better hotels around Esfahan with a little bit extra dollars. Rooms are dirty, the bathrooms are disgusting, this people really need to be introduced to pine and bleach antibacterial products. The price is expensive for what is offered. This hostel really need a treat, a serious refurbishment to look great again, now, it is nothing more than a decadent hostel.

Room Tip: There is no good room at the moment.

I was in Esfahan during the Eid Qurban public holiday. I made several reservation to few 4 & 5 hotels but no response and ended up at this hostel after a guy at the square helped to find place to stay. I've been to few hostels especially in Europe and new Zealand, and I don't expect too much from this hostel before I arrive. They charged me USD$17 for a double room even though I'm single, bit its OK. The place is not that clean, room not that clean, the water sink not that clean. Bathroom is shared but I'm Ok with the cleanliness. Breakfast is very basic. You can find a lot much better hotels around Esfahan with a little bit extra dollars. The guy at the reception desk at day time were friendly and helpful, but not the night duty one. The hotel can book for your bus ticket to most city in Iran.

I was there in late March of 2013.

It is once listed on the Lonely planet guide and it is no longer listed.. I guess there are good reasons for being de-listed. The place is old and dirty, the floor of the rooms are dirty, the bathroom and toilet is downright terrible With flies flying around...

Single rooms are tiny, really tiny...Like capsules sized..and the walls are like paper thin...you can easily hear what others are talking.

It is located on the main street but relatively further away to major slights and attractions.

I was planning to stay in Isfahan for 3 nlights and turned out I couldn't stand that place and flee away with an overnight bus on the 3td night.

Good hotels in Iran are inexpensive , treat yourself better.

I stayed in this hostel back in 2004, and came back in 2012. Nothing has changed. the same people, the same facilities, the same lack of treatment of the hostel. This could be much much better. Although my room and bathrooms were not dirty, everything looks as old as Esfahan monuments -also things don't look clean. Well located and very famous. I got a private room with my girlfriend, I mean the room was OK. Price is also ok but this hostel needs love.
