“2nd time we stayed, wont be a 3rd”
Reviewed 22 September 2011

this was our 2nd stay, the 1st being perfect, so hard to top.
the leisure facilities, water park, beach , public areas, perfect as the 1st time.
we had been on a far east tour staying in 5 hotels, Atlantis being the last, most expensive, highest star rating and the worst.
check in on a saturday morning, check in desks was absolutely swamped, like a cattle market, lobby was rammed, terrible atmosphere all round great start !
long winded check slows every thing down.
was given a large room on the 18th floor with balcony, nice, room smelt musty, just thought people had smoked in it before, so we unpacked.
after close inspection the ceiling had mould all the way round the ceiling perimeter, this doesnt happen overnight !
we were only staying for a night so couldnt be bothered to re - pack and move.
breakfast at kalidescope, again busy, cattle market atmosphere.
Q to be seated, scrap and push to get hot food from the food stations not 5*
on check out i showed reception pictures of the damp, very apologetic. complaint was handled very proffesionally , offered limo to airport, they gave my daughter a room for the rest of the day as compensation due to her very late flight. thank you.
unfortunatley when you pay £300 per room half board, and had stayed in 3/4* hotels during the previous 2 weeks, better rooms and eating conditions for a fraction of the Atlantis price , doesnt live up to the hype.
will try the jumerah beach next time !

after having eaten in Levantine Lebanese restaurant two days after we arrived, I experienced dreadful diarrhoea and excruciating tummy pains that lasted for the ensuing five days. My holiday was completely ruined and most disappointingly the management effectively chose to ignore my wish to make a formal complaint!

I have to start off by saying that I got a fabulous deal on this hotel through Voyage Prive but I think I was just lucky. Maybe because the deal was in conjunction with Emirates and the kids stayed at the hotel for free and because it is their hottest time - I dont know but I paid £2891 for 2 adults and 2 children, Half Board with upgrade to the Imperial Club for 5 nights.
I was a little concerned that it was Ramadan as like a lot of people I am not a big drinker but enjoy a few drinks on holiday. However, it was fine. We could not have our first drink until 8pm but as we were in the Imperial Club the two hour free cocktail time made up for this! You could buy some duty free.
I loved this hotel, the room was fabulous and I loved the Imperial Club. We went for breakfast a couple of mornings to Saffron but this was very busy and if you have young children you can be up and down like a yo-yo. The choice of food is amazing you can have Chinese, Indian, any type of eggs, pastries and everything for the English pallet including achocolate fountain - for breakfast! I believe the French restaurant is a little less hectic but we chose to stay ifor the rest of the trip in the Imperial Club lounge where it is all close to hand and they make your toast for you.
The water park attached to the hotel is superb, the kiddie area is fantastic for smaller children but has enough fun for kids around 12. Then there are all the larger rides and the lovely lazy river with rapids thrown in. There are enough lifesavers for the children and I have never seen as many lifeguards (in all areas)in all my life - Safety is obviously taken very seriously here. The beach is very nice and the water is very warm. There are various pools some with table tennis and pool games, some are just for relaxing. This hotel has something for everyone. Although it was very hot it was a dry heat and not unbearable and there are plenty of umbrellas. There are cabanas which give you fresh towels on request.
A couple of money saving tips. Have something to put some ice in - I bought an Atlantis refillable cup for soft drinks and the refills were fairly cheap - buy one between you otherwise you will be spending money you dont need to. The Imperial Rooms give you 4 bottles of water per day so I took these with us and just put them in my Ice Bag.
There is an Ice-Cream Parlour which is fun as they throw the ice-creams into the containers like they were mixing cocktails which again is great for the kids.
Just one last tip for a great holiday - book before you go to the Dubai Mall for the Burj Khalifa (the tallest tower in the world) or ask the hotel concierge to do this for you at the beginning of your holiday -then take your kids (up to the age of 12) to Kidzania (google it) - it is a city just for kids - my 11 year old and 5 year old did not want to come out after 4 hours. You can leave them to it and one parent can keep checking in (they will give you some gadget) if you want to go shopping but we did not but had my youngest been a little older I would have left them willingly as it is very safe and they can't escape. They will love it !!!
Taxis are very inexpensive.

Where do u start with a hotel like this? We arrived early in the morning and had booked an Imperial Club Room, we were whisked away to a very sumptuous private area to check in, once that was done we were personally escorted up to the Club Lounge so we could have breakfast. Even though it was a constantly over 100 degrees we decided to dine al fresco.

The room was spotlessly clean and was kept that way all week and we got regular visits to ensure everything was to our satisfaction.
We had previously been upgraded from B&B to Halfboard, always had breakfast in the Club Lounge, there is no point or benefit going anywhere else...you could also end up queuing as we saw most mornings outside Kalidescope.
You could opt to use the HB vouchers for lunch or dinner, we generally used them for lunch. The food by the pools is excellent and the portions are more dinner that lunch!! For dinner we ate in a different restaurant each night they are all FANTASTIC so try them all, some you will need to book in advance.
Pool areas are spotlessly clean and the staff continually keep it so.
I could go on and on about the Atlantis but suffice to say.... The hotel gets 10/10, the staff get 10/10, the facilities are 10/10. Oh and don't forget to go and swim with the dolphins.

Will definitely go back, there is no reason not to.

3 of us went to Atlantis as one of my daughters 21st Birthday treats - myself (45) and great Aunt (64) and what an amazing time we all had! we have all never said so many wows ever!!! arrived 2nd Sept private car to Atlantis and an amazing city journey past worlds tallest building, 7 star hotel - up the palm past all the amazing villas - took approx 35 mins transfer but lots to see so not a problem. The only snag we hit was on arrival at the hotel at 8.30am we were informed our room would not be ready until 2pm and of course we were not dressed to go out in the heat coming on a night flight from Bham - TIP wear your swimwear on the flight so you can just strip off at the waterpark where you must PAY for the locker so have cash! then leave your bits here until room is ready - for us yes we got the lovely room at 2pm - but it was 3.30pm after 2 phone calls before our luggage arrived so we spend 7 hours just inside!!!! but boy was it hot when we went out - a hairdryer hot wind dragged us onto the white coral sand beach - yes the sand comes from all over the world - hence the variety of interesting shells - and the sea water was a staggering 34 degrees warm! like walking into a warm bath but wonderful with the skyscapper skyline just across the water.
Water park - brill - just remember to have cash coins to pay for locker 40AED - keep hold of the blue tag and use it again the next 3 days for free. just leave your flip flops where you enter or as we did on day 2 took bedroom slippers and did not matter if they got lost!
Food - 5 star! loved the French restaurant, and Kalediscope for Bfast.
Lost Chambers - great to visit before 10pm of a night after dinner to burn off some of those calories
Gym - staff excellent - all equipment modern, even a power plate that I used every day so 5 Star again
Took a taxi into Dubai as we had booked our tickets to worlds tallest building online in UK - that save us £80 each + straight up pretty much - another wow - we checked sunset time in advance so got to see all in daylight and then in the dark. The Fountains outside (worlds biggest) show on the hour for 10 mins - not to be missed we watched twice different show/music each time
Inside the Mall - well we hit Bloomingdales - headed for the amazing cakes so had afternoon eat at 8.30pm! delicious and so reasonably priced amazing
All in all a totally wonderful holiday and my daughter had the time of her life - can't wait to go back perhaps when its 10 degrees cooler or 30 cooler for my other half !

Room Tip: ask for Palm view - its amazing at night
