We started our "Dubai" experience from Newcastle with Emirates and we had heard before we booked that they were one of the best airlines in the world and I certainly do not disagree. Although the seat pitch was a standard long haul 33" it was comfortable without being luxurious. Be aware though that seat A and K on the windows have restricted leg room due to the in seat entertainment system. To be honest my wife and I did not use the system much as we were just so enjoying the whole experience. The food by airline standard was first class and I would have been happy to have had it in a restaurant. The crew were exceptional and very professional. We arrived in Dubai about 25 mins later than scheduled at about 00:15. I dont know if our aircraft was in the usual parking bay for our flight but be warned if it usually parked there you have about a 30 min journey by foot and travelator ro reach one of the 55 passport control point all of which had 50+ people waiting. We cleared the airport at about 01:30. We decided to have a private transfer as we did not know how far the Atlantis was from the airport. We are please we did as it was a good introduction to the country. We arrived at the hotel at about 02:15 and it was buzzing! More like 14:15 than 02:15 but that said it was a nice buzz!

Our room on the 10th floor was really nice and spacious with sea view. It was immaculate and was kept that way through out our stay. We were on a half board upgrade so did not have access to all 17 restaurants but the ons we could use were all very good. We especially liked the Italian one (cant remember the name).

We were only on a 3 night visit which only gave us two full days and as we wanted to see as much of Dubai as possible we did not use any of the incredible pool facilities but they looked amazing.

Please if you go to Dubai do yourselves a favour and savour old Dubai it is amazing and the local people are so so friendly and we really felt at home.

One thing to be aware of is that the hotel is a 45 min Taxi and Metro journey to old Dubai. Both systems are amazing value. A 25 min taxi from the hotel to the nearest Metro point was only about £5 and you could get an all day Metro ticket for about £4.50 so dont be afraid of public transport.

Would we go back................whens the next flight!!!!!

services is really baaaaaad, and the price is too high for this bad services especially: room service "we found a broken glass" behind the TV. valet parking: if you forgot your card you should go and bring it again otherwise they will not bring your car, and they said if you lost your card then you will go and looking for your car in the parking. internet 99 AED per day for 1 MB and 150 AED per day for faster diving in the aquarium 2500 AED for 2 dives. too slow checking in and out. in a short term they look like want to achieve their turnover for nothing to do for guest.

We arrive at midnight and we ask to change ours Atlantis rooms to Imperial Club. As the hotel was full booked, we're lucky and get "Sweet Suite" - Terrace suite which was great and huge. Also other rooms are nice and clean.
As Imperial Club guest you have almost whole day refreshment and snack for free. All attractions offered by hotel are nice, beech is clear, during stay you get free ice cream on beach. The real amazing is the big aquarium inside, we can spent hours to watching it.
Restaurants are OK, if there was some problem always sold and they try to compensate it.
It's huge hotel and it's not comparable with stay in some boutique hotel but all was good organized, personal always helpful so we really enjoy stay here and looking to return here for another great week.

Room Tip: Choose Imperial Club

Just got back from spending 2 nights at the Atlantis, following 8 nights at Dar al Masyaf (Madinat Jumeirah). Both are 5 star but there is no comparison whatsoever between the two. Anyone who says otherwise, has clearly never had the privilege to stay in the DAM, Mina or Al Qsar. The rooms and bathroom facilities cannot be compared, the grounds also. There is no doubt the Atlantis is impressive (in terms of it's sheer size) but the approach is disappointing and there are hoards of people smoking right outside the lobby, which you do not see in the classier hotels on Jumeirah beach. People walk around the hotel in towels, wet clothes, no shirts on etc which is NOT allowed in most high end hotels anywhere in the world. They do not appear to have any dress codes here. You also do not see washing hanging over balconies like you do at the Atlantis, which makes you think of a high rise somewhere in Spain. The pool area is disappointing with unattractive seating and the pool itself is too warm, not climate controlled as it is at Madinat.
On the plus side, the room and the communal areas are spotless and the staff were friendly and efficient and our young son liked the water park. We will be back to Dubai next year and will be returning to DAM, not the Atlantis.

Room Tip: The most expensive room you can afford, facing the city/Jumeirah beach.

Had a great time at The Atlantis

First the 2 bad points - drinks are overly expensive and you can hear noise from neighboring rooms.

Apart from that, it's a grreat place to holiday!!

The food in all the restaurants is spot on, we found the food in Saffron to be not as nice or warm as Kaleidescope but it was still good with an amazing array of desserts!

Our favourite place to eat was The Edge located next to the Royal pool. With our half board dining voucher we were able to choose 3 courses each and found could never finish all 3 as the portions were huge! The pizza's were really nice, proper italian style and the chocolate cheescake was amazing!! We also received the best service in The Edge, the waiters were always checking if everything was ok and stopping to have a general chat with us between courses.

As others have already mentioned, the entire hotel is spotless, the staff work very hard to keep it that way, a real credit considering the sheer size of the premises!

We visited the lost chambers and enjoyed seeing the varies marine life.

We also went to the Aquaventure water park which i must say is excellent for kids and adults alike, I had a great time on the slides and lazy river.

Swimming pool was great, the water was always warm, loungers were available all day.

All in all and excellent hotel, if the price of beer was a bit cheaper, it would be perfect!

as it was our 1st anniversary the hotel provided free chocolates, that was a nice touch and really appreciated!

We have been to Dubai about 5 times now but we wanted to see what the fuss was all about this hotel. It is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting; right on the far edge of the Jumeirah Palm but I found it so over the top though not quite as over the top as the Burj al Arab is. We usually stay at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, I have to say I find it excellent.

Don't get me wrong I really enjoyed the Atlantis and the water park was great but once you have seen it, you've seen it and there is not a lot more going for it really. What alos lets it down is the uncompleted palm. Although the residences are completed the monorail route is still a building site, not a good look when you are approaching such a beautiful hotel.

Anyway we will be back in Dubai in Jan 2012 to try out the Ibn Battutu Gate hotel - as far as I know the first hotel in Dubai to offer an al-a-carte all inclusive option. I will let you all know how we get on.

They also know how to charge! £6 for 2 tiny cans of orange juice in the water park!!!

Room Tip: Depends on what you like but in my view the best rooms face down the pal towards the city, although...

We went for just a weekend getway and had a great time. The huge hotel experience isn't my favorite but with four young kids, having Aquaventure right there is a huge plus. The kids loved it and it was nice having the aquarium we could walk most every time we entered/ left our room so that just walking to the restaurant was a treat for all of us. We had a fantastic meal at the French restaurant there (one of the best services we've had - ever with four kids!). By day our room had a TERRIBLE view but it turned out we overlooked the top of the aquarium which was black during the day but lit up at night and we could see the sharks, rays and fish swimming by at night. That was a pleasant surprise. For such an elaborately decorated hotel, the rooms were surprisingly bland and boring. The beach faces towards Dubai instead of into the open ocean which surprised us a bit - at some of the other Dubai beach hotels, you can get more of the ocean wave experience. Overall a good experience but we're just not mega-hotel people and will stick with the Mina al Salam next time.
