We started our "Dubai" experience from Newcastle with Emirates and we had heard before we booked that they were one of the best airlines in the world and I certainly do not disagree. Although the seat pitch was a standard long haul 33" it was comfortable without being luxurious. Be aware though that seat A and K on the windows have restricted leg room due to the in seat entertainment system. To be honest my wife and I did not use the system much as we were just so enjoying the whole experience. The food by airline standard was first class and I would have been happy to have had it in a restaurant. The crew were exceptional and very professional. We arrived in Dubai about 25 mins later than scheduled at about 00:15. I dont know if our aircraft was in the usual parking bay for our flight but be warned if it usually parked there you have about a 30 min journey by foot and travelator ro reach one of the 55 passport control point all of which had 50+ people waiting. We cleared the airport at about 01:30. We decided to have a private transfer as we did not know how far the Atlantis was from the airport. We are please we did as it was a good introduction to the country. We arrived at the hotel at about 02:15 and it was buzzing! More like 14:15 than 02:15 but that said it was a nice buzz!
Our room on the 10th floor was really nice and spacious with sea view. It was immaculate and was kept that way through out our stay. We were on a half board upgrade so did not have access to all 17 restaurants but the ons we could use were all very good. We especially liked the Italian one (cant remember the name).
We were only on a 3 night visit which only gave us two full days and as we wanted to see as much of Dubai as possible we did not use any of the incredible pool facilities but they looked amazing.
Please if you go to Dubai do yourselves a favour and savour old Dubai it is amazing and the local people are so so friendly and we really felt at home.
One thing to be aware of is that the hotel is a 45 min Taxi and Metro journey to old Dubai. Both systems are amazing value. A 25 min taxi from the hotel to the nearest Metro point was only about £5 and you could get an all day Metro ticket for about £4.50 so dont be afraid of public transport.
Would we go back................whens the next flight!!!!!
