The Atlantis is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. It's billed as 5-Star, but it goes beyond the physical building, although that is seriously impressive. No, it was the staff that made it. From the receptionist, to the bell man, the cleaners, the maid service, the pool lifeguards and the myriad of other people, they all smiled at us when they greeted us and made us feel special. The hotel is huge, but because of the people it actually felt a lot smaller and intimate. I understand from talking to them that they are really looked after with good food, accommodation, health care and a decent salary. This shows. There is a pride in them all and a desire to make things nice for their guests. The sheer number of staff is even more impressive. I counted at least 13 staff in the car port getting taxi's, opening doors etc and just one of the pools at had least 6 lifeguards.

The rooms are exceptional and full of nice touches - we particularly liked the sliding doors next to the bath! The attention to detail extends everywhere. Iced flannels and Ice pops handed out foc round the pool, complementary water and fruit in the room to the pool side staff who provided two or three sheet sized towels for each sun lounger - AND tucked the towels in.

The aquarium and water park are included in the room rate and moving about between them was no hassle. Be warned though - it's a big hotel and the grounds (including the water park and Nasimi Beach) are huge. However the hotel does provide a golf buggy shuttle service along the front path - again very thoughtful and just a little service that made all the difference.

There is no end of choice when it comes to bars and restaurants and even the "standard" places available to us on half-board were very good. Be aware that the top end restaurants (Nobo, Seafire, Locatelli etc) are NOT included in the half-board arrangement and are anything from 100-200 dirhams extra - per person!

If there is a downside, it's the location. To put that in context, the hotel is sited at the far end of The Palm which is a stunning setting. It's just that it does need a cab to get to any of the attractions the Emirate has to offer. There is no "public" transport. Cabs are fairly cheap and a trip to say the Dubai Mall was around £8 - £12 - but make sure you get the biege and red/blue top ones. There are a lot of private hire cars around the hotels and malls which call themselves taxi's but are far more expensive. Also - don't be fooled by the impressive looking monorail - it doesn't go anywhere yet!

The Atlantis is a fabulous hotel with exceptional service. I can't recommend it highly enough.

We had 3 days here to catch our breath following a very busy touring holiday in Northern India. The hotel is very grand and opulent with an impressive number of restaurants, bars and retail outlets. The aquarium is also fantastic as is the on site aqua park which as residents you have free access to. It's a very large hotel that caters primarily for families - it's not the place for peace and tranquility. The staff were excellent throughout and the breakfast options in the Kaleidoscope restaurant were endless, but be warned the breakfast areas do get very busy and you will queue at peak times. For our evening meals we visited Locatelli's and Seafire - both were very good, the steak at Seafire was outstanding, one of the best I've had. We had an ocean view deluxe room, very clean and very well appointed. Complimentary water and fruit provided. Overall a fabulous experience!

We just LOVED our stay in Atlantis. The hotel is quite out-of-a-fairytale experience, but it is always swarming with people and gives an extremely touristy feel to its guests. It is beautifully architectured with so much to do within the property itself. The hotel is located at the tip of The Palm and is extremely huge. There is a huge aquarium called 'The Lost Chambers' with a variety of sea-creatures, a water-park called 'Aquaventure' that is great fun, 20 restaurants to choose from to dine in, a play area for kids called 'Little Pirates' Playground', a private beach of the hotel called 'Nasimi Beach', the starting station of Monorail that runs across the length of Palm Jumeirah apart from the usual amenities of a swimming pool, well laid out property, courteous and helpful staff in a hotel. The visit to these areas of the hotel is included in the hotel stay for the hotel guests, but people not staying in the hotel can also enjoy these after paying an entry-fee for the attractions. We had our breakfast at two restaurants called Saffron and Kaleidoscope during our stay. And the breakfast buffet is impressively vast comprising of Asian, continental and English breakfast with a wide variety of options to choose from. The hotel is divided into East and West towers. We stayed on the third floor of the West Tower and our room had a sea-view. The room was small, but the architecture is beautiful - there is an ogee arch next to the bed with a sliding door that opens to the bath-tub. That gives the room an Arabic feel to it. It was great for us to just leave our 3-year old son enjoying in the bath-tub with the arch-door open while we relaxed in the bed for some more time. The rooms need to be booked much in advance, and even with something like 1500 rooms, the hotel staff told us that it's over 80% booked at all times. We started our holiday with our stay in Atlantis and it really made our vacation a great experience.

Room Tip: All rooms are good with a great view and a little private balcony

The only negative part of our stay was check-in on arrival. We were put in a queue aligned with the type of room we'd booked which didn't make us feel that welcome. As our room wasn't ready we were taken to a dark box like room, really hot inside with no ventilation or windows and told we could get changed there - really terrible experience.

Once our room was ready we had a wonderful week, everything was fantastic, our room with a great sea view, the bars and places to eat were great so you didn't really need to leave. Also not as expensive as we were led to believe staying on The Palm.

Lovely stay but please sort out your check-in and give guests waiting for a room a better place to get changed after a long flight.
