“Absolute different world - Fantastic”
Reviewed 28 August 2010

What a fantastic place. Went for 8 nights with wife and 2 children, 10 and 7. The most consistent thing which stands out is the friendliness of all the staff, and I can assure you this was nothing to do with tipping as I didn't start to do this until probably the 3rd day. No matter what time of day you walk around the hotel there are staff working in all areas and to a man everybody stops to say 'hello sir' with a smile.
We went on a half board basis which I would recommend. We would go for breakfast about 0900 and the variety of food on offer was brill, although I wouldn't condone eating chinese and pizza every morning for kids. Then have a walk to the pool and the fascinating thing is that you could get a bed almost anywhere you wanted as the place is so big there are many places to sunbathe. We would stay at the pool until 1500 then go to the water park until about 1900 then shower and dinner, which can be very expensive if not on half board.
Admittedly things are expensive, can of 330ml Grolsch from the minibar cost 37 dirham(about £7.50) but after reading a couple of reviews on here we bought 2 bottles of bacardi from the airport which ended up being suffice. A packet of Doritos from the minibar was about 20 dirham so we decided to go to the Emirates Mall where we stocked up on crisps and goodies at a very reasonable price.
Feel completely safe here and I understand that the crime rate is very low.

The only slight niggle was that our holiday was at the time of Ramadan and the buffet in the Kaledoscope seemed monitonous, although cooked to perfection. We could have gone to other restaurants but not really practical because the main thing was to try and get the children to eat, and if they didn't like they could try something else at the buffet where this is not always possible at the restaurants.

All in all a fantastic holiday and you get what you pay for in life. If you want to sit round a pool all day getting sozzled on £1 per pint and moaning about this and that not working then this is not the place, having to get up at 5 in the morning this is not the place for you.

I can find nothing at all to fault with this hotel/resort. Staff were great, room beyond expectation, food good (altough not cheap but we were aware of that), water park good, and weather very hot.

Despite its size, staff were very good and always made an effort to say hello. We were in the East wing and the reception desk was excellant, could not of been more helpful...even took time to show us around.

I used the gym and again staff were great, spent some time with me showing me some new work outs.

Such a good time that we want to go back next year.

Just returned from holidaying here, its very overrated.Queues for breakfast, rude staff, food not up to five star standard even in the so called signature restaurants. Luckily we had half board included and ate at saffron, kaleidascope, the edge and la rhonda locatelli, none of them were very good.We waited an hour and a half for lunch at the edge one day and was kept being told our food was on its way when we finally spoke to the manager we were told our order had not gone through to the kitchen. We have stayed in Dubai a number of times Le royal meridian,Hilton,Al Qasr and they are all so much better than Atlantis. We were there for a week and spent most mornings at the pool and out of 7 days had 1 ice lolly and no wet flannels at all, this is just the norm in any other hotel, the water park is ok but wild wadi is better, seems that the staff cant cope with the amount of people visiting there, and even they said breakfast was a joke and they needed more restaurants,I know that if your reading this you may think what a moaner but honestly 5 of us travelled here we had 2 rooms and it cost us a fortune, just dont think it warrants the money spent. I love Dubai just not this hotel. And if your thinking of staying here take plenty of money, cheese sandwich and fries from room service £13.00 can of 7up £3,40 and a lilo for the pool £30.00!!!

This was our third holiday in Dubai, and first stay at the Atlantis. We booked two Atlantis rooms through Virgin and upgraded to a Regal Suite on arrival -the upgrade was only about £150 and made a massive difference to our holiday. The suite had wifi, a kitchen area, two bathrooms a huge dressing room and a very large sitting room. There is a kids club and teenagers club, which were great when the kids wanted a few hours out of the sun. The restaurants are expensive and it's best to buy plenty of alcohol in duty free. We stayed 15 nights and had a very relaxing peaceful break. The pools and free waterpark put Disney to shame, and there's a lot of free entertainment, such as Nasimi Beach Club on Friday nights and Summer Nights with fireworks, entertainers and a laser show, at the water park. We had breakfast included in the package which was amazing - absolutely any type of food, freshly cooked by teams of chefs. We did hire a car, but probably wouldn't again - taxi's are v cheap and plentiful. We would definitely recommend skiing at Ski Dubai (Mall of The Emirates), Dubai Aquarium (do the shark dive) and Burj at The Dubai Mall. In the Atlantis there are several upmarket shops and great places to eat - our favourites were seafire and kaleidoscope, and we tried Nobu once which was lovely. The new Atlantis Dive Centre is great. Very professional and I felt safe scuba diving with my 12 and 14 year old children. They are a PADI 5 star centre, located next to Aquaventure, the waterpark. There is a huge variety of wreck dives and courses to do, but unfortunately visibility is poor - about 4 metres & there's not a lot of fish to see unless you take the day trip to Oman - we also paid to dive in the Ambassador Lagoon - the 10m deep tank in the hotel foyer which was an unforgettable experience.
Rooms were cleaned twice a day, fruit and water provided daily. We had a couple of issues during our 15 night stay, which were resolved quickly and efficiently. we've been lucky enough to go to some really lovely places, but the Atlantis was the best holiday ever - everyone in the family had a great time.

A large, busy hotel which tries to cater for everyone. Perfect for families with children, Aquaventure & Dolphin Bay etc.
-Cost: we found HB perfect, although soft drinks are not included in evening meals. Buffets catered for all tastes, including the kids. Only gives you access to 5 restaurants. If you use the Michellin Star ones, you'll pay more than the equivalent in London. Kids club is expensive. Don't go on a budget, quite easy to spend the same as your total package cost out there (without shopping)!.
-Heat: fine in the water and aircon, hotel golf cars take you everywhere else within resort.
-Activities: waterpark kept kids very happy, Dolphin interaction ( £450 for basic shallow water interaction plus £100 for 50 photos!). If you like aquariums this hotel is for you!
-Location: on its own but £10 in taxi to Dubai Mall (shops +++ but cheaper in UK), Burg Kalifa etc.., Emirates Mall closer (ski Dubai). Shuttle bus on a schedule if you don't mind waiting for slots.
-Ramadan: normal business in hotel except no alcohol until sunset, stricter rules in Malls (e.g. no food until sunset). No real entertainment in hotel during Ramadan.
-Guests: lots UK families and pretty much all G20 nations represented. Unfortunately some visitors had not understood all the cultural differences between Europe and an Islamic state. UAE web site explains everything you need to know.
-Staff: found them very good, service depends on tips, tip on day one and they remember! We used 10% guide.

I would not go just with my wife for a quiet break, but as a family with kids aged 10,9 & 7, this was perfect for us. Felt very safe and enough to do on a 6N break. It is pretty impressive and the kids want to go back next year which is a good sign. For me, I would probably not go for the cheaper option during the summer months as we were lucky as the average day temp was 42C but the staff told me it hit 50C during July.

We read the trip advisor before we went and were quite worried that it was very expensive. If you like a drink get some duty free you can take 4 litres EACH so make the most of it because alcohol is more pricey than in the UK and you can only buy it in the hotels not at the supermarkets. We, (a family of 4) stayed for 10nights B&B and ate in the hotel (twice in Seafire which is a bit pricey with 2 bottles of wine) and our bill was £1,300.00 (£250.00 of which was spent on our last night at Seafire for our anniversary) we complained twice (I'm not going to say why because i don't think it necessary) and both times it was rectified with a really good response. Breakfast is fantastic buffet freshly cooked and anything you want. The waterpark is just fantastic (better than Florida we thought) and free of charge. The staff are great with the kids and all the pools have at least 2 life guards so your kids are safe. All in all a great holiday we loved it and so did the children (4 and 9) our son had his birthday there and we had two cakes (they do make a bbig fuss if you have a birthday) If you have booked to go in the near future you are goingto have a great time.
