This was one of the best hotels we have stayed at. The staff could not do enough for you and the staff were all very helpful whatever your need. We were meet when we stepped out of our taxi by bellmen who took our bags and delivered directly to our rooms. Checkin was quick and we were upgraded to a bigger room with an extra bed (which was great) having two very tall teenagers. Had half board which was worth the money as breakfast and dinner was excellent. Breakfast was self service with a variety of food from around the world and being cooked fresh for you to order. Dinner could be taken in either two self service restaurants or three sit down restaurants (which you needed to book) Food was at every corner and of the highest quality again from around the world.
Our room was excellent with a loverly view over the bay, rooms were spotlessly clean and cleaned two or three times a day with lots of bottled water free and clean towels. The free entry to the water park was a extra added bonus and we spent a few afternoons there just enjoying going around the lazy river and a few rapids. The main pool at the hotel was open until midnight with loads of lifeguards so was great to go for a dip in the late evening. All I can say is we will be going back to this hotel and would reccommend to anyone who likes a little luxury well worth the stay.

This place is not a 5 star resort and lacks a lot in quality, care and attention to its customers needs. On our arrival we were told by a excited check in person that "today we have 800 people checking in and its fully booked so any of our pre-requests can not be honoured", funny because all my partner said was it "my Birthday today that`s why we have decided to come here" we asked how many home rooms do you have here and we were told 6000 rooms! After receiving the keys to our room we were told run all the corridor without any advice or assistance as to which direction we should go or even a hint of Happy Birthday!
On our way to the rooms we say to Asian men looking like a beggar in the street dress in blue scrapping the skirting boards spraying some kind of toxic smelling spray on the surface of the walls.
In the evening we dined at the Kaleidoscope restaurant, the quality of the food looked to be very poorly displayed and also we were over charged for our bottle of wine, when I brought this up with the employee, I was just given smurk and told it was correct but after some minutes the employee realised the error he made and went off shouting something to a colleague.
Over all experience of the place was very poor even when visiting the lost chambers we could not see what was so special within the chambers there is nothing that you can actually interact with at all. The is more fun seeing the aquarium in Dubai mall.
We visited the Royal Beach which has nothing Royal about it only a view of the sky train that carries people in and out whilst you lay half naked in the sun.
This is not a resort I can recommend, also as a guest I was charged for car parking!
As for the birthday go to the Crowne Plaza at Festival City, since they were told that its my Birthday this week, I received a lovely cake in our room. See if you can beat that Atlantis.

We went to The Atlantis on our way home from Mauritius for our honeymoon. We had read reviews on here and decided to upgrade our stay to half board rather than just bed & breakfast and I am glad we did.
We were upgraded to an Atlantis room as it was our honeymoon and we were not disappointed. The room was huge and we were given a Palm view room which apparently according to the staff is the best view to have.
Food and drinks are really expensive at the hotel as they do take advantage of the fact people have no choice but to pay the prices. We found with the half board the only thing we were really spending our money on were drinks. You will pay around AED 18 (£3) for a soft drink and £5 for red bull. We stayed during Ramadam so didn't get to see how much the alcohol was. Budget for these sort of prices and you will be fine.
We didn't find that the restaurants had any trouble with the half board vouchers which some people have commented on, we just asked before we were seated to make sure they accepted them.
Apart from this the hotel was fantastic! The water park was easily accessed from the hotel and the lazy river / rapids were great. You don't really need to get out of the water to get to the slides as the lazy river will eventually take you round to the conveyor up to the main section where the slides are.
Dolphin bay was awesome and I would highly recommend the spend for this. We paid AED 810 each for the royal swim interaction and were not disappointed. The trainers were excellent and extremely friendly. There is a photographer taking pictures all the way through the interaction. We then paid around AED 500 for 4 prints and 50 pictures on a CD which I thought was quite good value if you go there expecting to pay this. The pictures were brilliant and a great souvenir of our experience.
We booked to go on the Desert Safari and were not disappointed it was definitely a must do while out in Dubai. The driver we had was nice and kept us entertained during the trip out to the Desert. This was about AED 200 for 2 of us.
We also booked the Big Bus tour which unless you use it to get around Dubai for we would say give it a miss. There isn't much about the history of Dubai and basically just gives lists after lists of things. Unfortunately it was one of the most boring city tours we have ever been on.
We would definitely go back to the Atlantis but when it is cooler, be warned in August/September its over 40 degrees in the daytime and doesn't get much cooler when the sun goes down.
Just don't forget - go to the Atlantis expecting to pay over the odds for food and drink and you will have a great time. Everything else is fairly reasonably priced.

Travelled here for a long weekend from London in April this year.
Arrived on an early flight so checked in very early. On arrival room was upgraded, and we were given oppurtunity to freshen up with a hot shower and bite to eat etc.
Rooms are great.
Food is lovely, plenty of choice.
Swimming is great fun, enough to do all day.
Bars are pricey, but service and standards are very high.
