“cheap but a bit far from everything”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 November 2011

this is a great budget hotel to stay. The shower is great, nice bed and pillows to choose. Breakfast included in room booking which is great and serve fresh fruits and sausages scrambled eggs. Good for budget travellers, but keep in mind need the cost for taxi to get around. Like we were interested in indoor ski and dubai mall which is a bit far from this hotel. Also if you need bottle water. Leave the hotel entrance, turn right, walk two blocks down you get to a local supermarket where you can buy 1.5 litre genuine bottled water for 1.5 dirhams instead of paying 8 dirhams at reception. Great savings!

We have just returned from a week in Dubai. We stayed in the Holiday Inn Express in Jumeirah. This hotel was excellent. The rooms were clean and well equipped. Staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was really good with lots to choose from. We found lots of good places to eat a ten minute stroll away. We would be happy to stay at this hotel again and would recommend it to anyone visiting Dubai. Special thanks to Alex on reception and Aziz on security.

Stayed in the hotel for seven nights with my family. Hotel is very clean, close to Jumeirah beach and the price is reasonable. They offer free buffet breakfast. Although the choice is not that much but i liked fresh crossiants.
They also have underground parking. The only problem with the parking was that if you have a bigger SUV, then its tricky to take it out.

Overall, i will rate it excellent and recommend it to my friends.

We stayed here for a week in October. Overall it was a very nice stay. Our cleaner was brilliant and kept our room spotless. The staff were very friendly however lacked basic knowledge about the surrounding area. For instance, we arrived at 9pm and after we unpacked, wanted to find a restaurant to eat. The receptionist told me the nearest shopping mall was a 10 minute walk up the road, where we would find restaurants available. 20 minutes later and gthe "shopping mall" was the Palm Springs which is essentially a group of boutique shops with a Starbucks and Haagen Dazs. Eventually we ended up getting a taxi to Mall of the Emirates (which is probably the mall furthest away) by taxi as it was the only one I could think of.

On another night we had booked a table at the Coconut Grove restaurant which is located in the Rydges Plaza- a 5 min taxi ride from the hotel. We in fact walked back after the meal it was that near. The staff and security had never heard of the hotel and I had to go back to my room to get the address of the Rydges so that they could tell the taxi driver.

We were also misinformed about the Big Bus Tour, where is stops in relation to the hotel and where we can buy tickets. A different staff member told me that the bus leaves at 9.30am every 15 mins from down the road that mosque is on. THIS IS ALL INCORRECT INFORMATION!! We walked in the boiling heat to the mosque to find no bus stop anywhere in sight. After a nightmare morning we eventually found the stop was outside Starbucks (on the other side of the street and on an entriel different street!), and the tour started at 9am.

HI Express- PLEASE PLEASE train your staff to have the knowledge of these basic things- we wasted a lot of time, money and energy following your information. Our requests were nothing out of the ordinary, and things I would expect a hotel to have plenty of knowledge and information about. Courteous staff is lovely, but they need to have knowledge.

Breakfast was ok but the same every day. Milk was warm. We had one drink in the bar and the barman didnt know how to make one of the cocktails (took 15 mins for him to bring drinks over)!!

There is no drawer space at all. There were hardly any hangers (though they did bring us more up when we asked). The rooms are small but if you're out most of the day it doesnt really matter.

The hotel was very clean and modern. The staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Getting taxis is easy. We walked to the open beach on a couple of occassions (about a 20 min walk in the heat), and there is a Carrefore's just round the corner. Other than that the hotel is a fair way out from the nearest shopping mall, restaurants and metro (Dubai mall- 10-15mins by taxi).

Next time I come to Dubai I will stay in a more central hotel.

Here's the good: it was clean, not too expensive, nice front desk staff and had the basics. Here's the bad: the beds were so hard and uncomfortable I couldn't sleep. The pillows were the most narrow I have ever seen. The breakfast was sparse, you had to push your way through to get to anything, and you had to wait in line at least 10 minutes to get a cup of coffee. After my husband had been waiting in line for 10 minutes, and finally got to the front of the line, a man from hotel staff cut in front of him and made him wait 2 more minutes while he got coffee for someone else. We definitely will not go back.

We stayed at the holiday Inn Express hotel in a group of 10 with an assortment of 6 rooms.
We arrived at the hotel at 8am, where we were told that our rooms would be ready once guests checked out by 2pm. Nandika, the receptionist was very helpful as we were in a group of 10, she gave us two temporary rooms until all further rooms were available. We finally got our rooms at 2pm after a 6hr long wait. Check -in took little over 5 minutes once our rooms were allocated. Luggage was sent direct to our rooms.

The hotel location isn’t brilliant but ok for guests who want somewhere to stay in a clean modern hotel. The hotel is situated in the Bur Dubai district of Dubai, in the dockyard region, so no at all scenic. There is nothing really close by to the hotel. There is a Carrefour supermarket in the next block, but otherwise just plain roads. Going for a stroll in the evening is safe here. Cabs can easily be found at the hotel entrance. If you’re lucky you may get a sea view facing room if on a high floor. Meena Bazaar, (an Asian shopping centre is only 5 minutes by cab). The Burj Khalifa (world’s tallest building is 12minutes away). Airport is about 20minutes away and will cost around 50Dhms (£10) by taxi.

The hotel is well decorated in neutral tones with a large ceiling reception; immaculately clean with a foyer and seating area. There is a shoe polishing machine by the washrooms.
The rooms are on the smaller side, and the twin rooms are quite small, all, with mod cons that one would expect including comfortable double/twin beds, AC, fridge, TV, desk area with lighting, room is well lit, wardrobe with safe, coffee making facilities and sofa. The bed linen was clean however, it had a damp smell to it. All rooms are very clean and well maintained. The rooms have UK adaptable plug sockets by the study area. There are no plugs by the bedside cabinets which is rather strange. You will need to get out of bed to get your phone or device if left on charge. It is strange that there is only the one power socket so you can only ever charge one device at a time, slightly annoying and an inconvenience.
There were few mosquitoes in the room which bit me, apart from that the room was free of any other insects.
The bathroom is well equipped with a large shower with 24hrs hot water is available. There is soap, shampoo and towels provided. There is no complimentary water in rooms.
Rooms are cleaned every day with laundry being replaced if required. Only negative with this hotel is that they do not offer room service and you cannot order hot food here. This is because the hotel is a no-frills hotel offering the basic minimum. Should you wish to purchase snacks and drinks you will need to go to the reception to make any purchases. There is a bar which sells drinks/snacks all day, serving alcohol in the evening.
There is a restaurant on the ground floor offering limited breakfast each morning. Each day there are slight changes to the menu with different varieties. Restaurant offers fruit juices, tea/coffees, and breads with toast machine, fruits, yoghurts, cold meats, salad, pastries and cereals. Breakfast is complimentary at the hotel. Quality of food is good, but after few days you get bored of the same stuff.
There is also a gym on the first floor for those wishing to work out.

The staff at the hotel from the concierge, reception, housekeeping, restaurant are all very friendly, attentive and helpful.
Overall, the hotel location was average, with adequate rooms. If you are passing through Dubai then this hotel is ideal for stopovers. If you are coming to Dubai for a vacation or for the first time, I recommend you stay elsewhere in a hotel offering full facilities. The hotel is good value for money. I would definitely stay here in the future.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view facing room on a high floor, otherwise you will feel you are on a building site.
