In traveling to Dubai I was looking for a good hotel without spending a large amount of money. After some research I picked the City Seasons Hotel. It's not opulent, but there is nothing wrong with this place. It's extremely close to the airport, so taking a taxi to and from the airport is very inexpensive. It's only a five to 10 minute commute from the terminals. The hotels closer to the main tourist areas (near the Burj Kahlifa or Palm Island), are quite a distance from the airport. Allow extra time, and extra commuting costs, if you choose a hotel there. For those hotels you will spend more.

While not a central hotel, it's still convenient. The Deira Mall is only a five to ten minute walk from the hotel, which is also where the closest metro stop is. The metro can take you to most tourist spots (Dubai Mall, Marina Area, Emirates Mall, Deira Creek area, etc.) except coastal areas (like Palm Island). The Deira Mall is mainly frequented by local people, but still good to pick up things you may need, or food from the supermarket.

The room was clean and comfortable. My room faced away from the airport. I've heard that rooms facing the opposite way may hear planes taking off, which could be annoying. When outside, I didn't hear much noise from planes taking off, so such comments might be from people who don't sleep very soundly.

My package didn't include a breakfast buffet, but I did eat at the buffet for most mornings (extra charge). The food was above average for a breakfast buffet. Maybe a bit overpriced, but it was convenient. In all, there was nothing wrong with the food. Anyone complaining doesn't have much experience with these buffets.

Room Tip: Mine faced the Burj Kahlifa (quite a bit in the distance). It was quiet. No complaints.

We stayed at this hotel for one night on the way to Australia on 7th June 2014. There were five of us in two rooms. When we arrived at Dubai airport a driver from the hotel was waiting to collect us and we were also dropped off at the airport the next day. We arrived at the hotel at 7am and we were able to access our rooms which were a good size and clean. The rooms are a bit dated, but that is a minor point. The breakfast offered an excellent choice of everything. The staff were very helpful. I would recommend this hotel for an overnight stay between flights.

While checking in we were told to wait for 5 minutes but waited for half an hour after which the front desk staff came to us and said she was looking for us for quite a long time...... while she was the one who told us to WAIT and didn't see us at the WAITING AREA all that time. However we were upgraded to a family suite so we had two spacious rooms. The hotel is 10 mins walk from Deira city Centre mall and the metro station which makes the location convenient.

Stayed at this hotel in January 2014 for almost two weeks. Many issues to deal with. Wifi
not working, was offered a smoking floor despite clearly asking for non smoking. Manager
Mr. Manu Madan kept low profile when asked to address the issues at hand. His solution
was to relocate me to another floor which had a broken fridge. The pass cards for the
room had to be replaced four times, with an explanation from the manager "you are not
the only one with this problem". Totally disfunctional management team. Mr. Madan's
assistant was always unavailable to speak with me, yet was seen many times in the
restaurant.

2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2014

I loved the hotel itself and the room was very comfortable and spacious but the service in this hotel leaves a lot to be desired. While checking in we asked the people at the front desk how long it would take to get to the tennis stadium from the hotel and we were told 25-30 minutes. I thought this answer was a bit strange as I specifically booked it because the map showed it to be near enough to where we were going. This didn't leave us much time to get ready so we rushed and grabbed a taxi, turns out we were 5 minutes away.
Having arrived in the room we immediately called for more towels. These never came and because we were in a hurry we just re-used towels and did not have time to chase these up.
When we arrived back around 1.30am we decided to order room service as we had been told it was 24 hours. Big mistake! The food took well over an hour to arrive and it was clearly frozen food which was not nice at all and definitely should not have taken over an hour to prepare.
Around 4.30am we got a wake up call from the front desk. After telling them that we hadn't ordered one they apologised and we went back to sleep. Half an hour later the phone rang again. I heard talking on the other end and they hung up. Two minutes later another phone call! Again they hung up without actually saying anything. I took the phone off the hook but a few minutes later I heard voices on the other end. It stopped pretty quickly and thank god that was the last of the wake-up calls.
The phone in our room was not connected to the correct extensions. When we tried to call room service (a room service button on the phone) we were rudely told this was not the correct extension and that we needed to call room service. They gave us a number which we dialled and it took us directly back to the same person who then connected us.
On the day of checkout we forgot to put the do not disturb
sign on (assuming housekeeping would not come to the room until after we had checked out). We were woken by a knock on the door at 9.30am by housekeeping!
For such a beautiful hotel I was sorely disappointed and would be in no hurry to stay here again.

The bedroom was large and the Hotel was in a good location. Not only is it fairly close to the airport but is walking distance (two blocks) to a really good shopping mall.

The bedroom is a good size with good furniture. There is a good desk and good seating in the bedroom. The TV had lots of English TV channels and good wi-fi.

I was on the 1st floor and I could hear the traffic on the motorway near the hotel. This didn’t interrupt my sleep.

The only thing that was disappointing was the broken plugs in the bedroom. There were exposed wires on the plug. The shower also needed repairing and there was a stain on the carpet in the corner.

I had breakfast and a dinner which were good value except the sparkling mineral water was expensive. The airport pickup and drop-off happened as promised and the service in the hotel was excellent.
There is also a nice pool on the roof and the gym looked fantastic.
