We were all quite apprehensive/ excited about our trip, having taken a recommendation. Driving there was fine (as fine as the driving can be in Dubai!).
We got to the place where all the tours appear to take off from. And they did the standard checks with letting down the tire pressure etc.
We set off and cleared one dune which I thought was quite fun and seemed to be a smallish one. And then we drove sideways up a very steep slope and banked at the top, I could feel the wheels weren't on the ground, and the car was stuck on the too of the dune.
We then, in almost slow motion toppled down the side of the dune, I'm not sure how many times we rolled, but at least 1 full rotation, with the car ending up at the bottom of the dune still at a harsh angle.
We all managed to get out the car, though the car was in a bad way, wind screen was broken inwards, and there was severe denying across all sides of the vehicle.
Once we got out, that was when the situation began to be handled appallingly. Literally minutes after it happened, one of the other drivers said to us there were 2 spaces in another car to keep going!
They then made us get back into another car, without saying where we were going, we had all said we wanted to just go! They kept saying you can still go out to the camp for dinner, we'll drive slow...
Considering we were all very shaken, and visibly upset, they offered no water, until we kept asking, and then didn't tell us why we had been driven back to the accident site. They then said we had to wait for the police to talk to them, which took another half an hour. At one point, a more senior looking representative from the company asked 'how are you doing', and tried to making light of the whole thing, laughing about it, which didn't go down well with us.
All in all, they were very slow to get us moving, and were trying to make us change cars twice before we got driven back! I thought they were insensitive to how shaken we all were, and didn't offer water until we asked.
I'm not saying that rolling over on the dunes doesn't ever happen, it was unfortunate, but I felt the driver was being reckless (one of our party had done it before, and she thought it was stupid that he even attempted this particular dune).
And lastly, it was their poor handling of the whole ordeal that has forced me to want to write this, only to warn others about this particular comany.
